Inn Amarea - Canneto, Lipari

The Hotel Amarea was excellent. We arrived by taxi from Lipari not knowing that they provide a complimentary service from the ferry. The youung receptionist gave us a very warm welcome. We had a top floor room at the back of the hotel which from its balcony gave superb views of the see and hills every morning. The hotel was light and airy, and very clean throughout. We used the hotel as our base for visiting the Aeolian Islands and for this it was great. 20 yards from the entrance was a small street that led down to the main beach road from where you could catch a bus (there is a very good and cheap local service) to either Lipari or Aquacalda. Across the road was the beach which was very clean and a joy to bathe or swim in. We found all the staff to be very helpful and friendly and on leaving they provided a complimentary taxi to the ferry. I have stayed in a lot of hotels across Italy and this I would rate as the best bed and breakfast hotel I have ever stayed in. Would I stay there again. Most definetely.

DEPRESSING Clean ,modest, building on a narrow viewless street . Poor sound insulation . Inexpensive furniture . Absentee reception .Unfinished fixtures . Spartan bathroom . We saw no seaviews except on brochures . Exorbitant rates . Claustrophobic “Amarea” charges significantly more than Palermo palaces

Hotel staff was very helpful. Special mention to Alessia and hotel owner, Claudio. Alessia addressed all of our needs, made phone calls for us, packed us a some food because we checked out before breakfast was served. Claudio went out of his way to take us to the port so we can catch our ferry ride on time. Great breakfast too! Hotel was nice and clean, wireless internet was a nice bonus. I'd recommend this hotel anytime and will be back.

Everything good but for room quietness. No noise from the street but coming from surrounding rooms. Hairdryer not present in the bathroom. Personnel very friendly. Very nice beach close to the hotel. Boat excursions easily available. Overall, strongly suggested for the price.
