Inn Gasthof Fraundorfer - Garmisch-Partenkirchen

This gasthof is well located in the centre of town. The rooms are in a separate building reached through a carpark. They are comfortable and warm, though the bathrooms are not heated. For the price I would have expected better quality furnishings and towels, linen etc. A good breakfast is offered in the main gasthof building. You can also eat main meals there as it runs as a traditional German restaurant complete with music, yodelling and Bavarian knee slapping dancers. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful.

The room was small but appealing in an alpine cottage sort of way. Breakfast was plentiful. Our only complaint was that our room was directly inside the main door of our particular guest house and thusly noisy in the morning and evening with people coming and going (not late into the night though). Also there is a motion light that shines into this particular room whenever someone approaches the building. Not a problem the second night as we discovered we could close the shutters on the outside of the building. We would stay here again (maybe in another room). Enjoyable overall. Beautiful area.

pretty gastof fraundorfer was exactly like the photos on the web. Barbara was prompt to reply to my email, very helpful, and caring of our children who were ill during our stay. the front rooms are noisy when patrons are leaving the restaurant, (or having a cigarette outside), we were there in winter so the patrons didn't linger long under our window, but in summer this would have been a problem. I'd request the back rooms next time, even though they don't have the pretty views of the mountain tops. very well located in a picturesque street of traditional bavarian architecture and a supermarket at one end. The associated restaurant, panorama, is also worth a visit.
