Inn Tourist House Battistero - Florence

Easy to get to from the train station, friendly, helpful staff who give you a map and good ideas about what to see and do, free wi-fi , a nice, clean, big room with a comfortable bed and 2 pillows each, a good shower, reading lights, a frig, a jug and some coffee and nice, big mugs. And then it’s in a great location within easy walking distance of all of the interesting sights. And it feels safe and secure and is a very reasonable price. What more could you want!!!!

Convenient location, helpful staff

Convinent,clean,spacious and quiet.We really enjoyed the staying. Would like to come back and prefer to book the one with small kitchen

All was well - room was fab! except there was never anyone around. Another funny thing was - when I asked for restaurant recommendation - the clerk kept telling me - he will recommend "cheap cheap" places...that to me felt a bit pretencions..would be nice to have a little kettle in the room.

The "Tourist House Battistero" was a delightful place to stay. The room was well presented and quiet at night despite being on a main road and coming in from the stairwell. The windows opened for fresh air and to allow us to watch the street-scape below. The location was fantastic, being literally metres from the Duomo, and with numerous cafes and restaurants nearby to choose from. The owners were very gracious and helpful, with internet access provided in a shared office area. There was a lift for luggage, available with a key from reception. The only difficulty we had was in locating the building, as we did not know initially that there were different coloured numbers for the different types of businesses and the only public sign is a small gold wall-plate beside the door. A map on the website in additon to the verbal description would have been more useful to me. Overall a terrific place to stay and to cap it off, the daughter and son-in-law of the friend I was travelling with, had also booked the tourist house, independently of my booking, so the website must be effective!

The B&B is minutes from the Duomo and all the major sights in Florence. It is also a very short distance from the railway station. The hotel staff were very personable and arranged our advance reservations for the Uffizi and the Accademia which lets you by pass the lengthy ticket lines. They do not offer breakfast and, as Florence is very pricey, it tended to increase the cost of the stay.

Great place, central and good value for money - looking forward to coming again

Just got back 27 SEP 2010. This hotel was in a perfect location! The staff were terrific. Our room faced the street however the windows blocked all noise, the was A/C in the room,and all was neat and clean. The bathroom was updated and appealing. I didn't know what I was actually getting but was so glad to have chosen this hotel. You won't be disappointed!

The hotel was fantastic! The rooms were modern, very spacious with floorboards, air-conditioned and with a nice bathroom. The Italian couple that ran the joint were very friendly and allowed me to use their phone and internet behind their desk! The location was also very handy and was only 5-10mins from the railway station. It was always easy to find our way back too as we only needed to find the Duomo and we were fine. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in Firenze. The prices were also very reasonable too. It was also a nice welcome having access to a lift and not having to cart 20kg bags up flights of stairs. Thanks for the great hospitality, I wish we didn't have to leave!

Clean and spacious rooms with good facilities.

This room is in a great location-close to the Duomo and easy walks to all desired areas. The value is also excellent, but the rooms are no frills. The only major issue for us was our smoking neighbors-being from CA, with strict anti-smoking laws, it was difficult for us at times with the smoke coming into our room at all times of the day and night. The front desk staff has limited English but is friendly, and we were able to decipher what was being said without too much difficulty. I would stay here again since it was a room that could have slept four for only 50 euro a night.

Overall a great location in the heart of florence. The hotel was clean and only minutes walk to the Duomo and other major landmarks.

We got a triple fpr 3 nights. For this price range we were most pleased w this hotel. Very very well located, for a short tourism trip. Room was simple and clean, large enough for 3, and the bathroom even better. Nice welcome but after that your almost on your own as lady watching spoke only Italian but very sweet. No telephone available. I would stay again if I have the same budget no frills clean, comfortable, central.

We stayed here for 2 nights in May and the location is great, right outside the Duomo. Check in and check out were very easy. Even though our room was right outside a busy street, we couldn't even hear the street traffic with the window closed. The rooms were very clean and the bathrooms were recently renovated.

Facilities were clean and comfortable, with excellent access to Florence's key sites. Good tourist information was provided at the reception area which was useful as we were only in Florence for a short period.

Overall we were very satisfied with our stay and the value, considering the location, was fantastic. It is very small and basic, but we did not spend the majority of our time in the hotel room. Despite very detailed directions from hotel staff, I had trouble finding the right doorbell and mistakenly rang Signore "Duomo" who was very helpful and friendly. It was very peaceful and quiet during our short stay. No complaints.

The location is very close to the Duomo and most of the tourist places in Florence. The entrance is on a busy street, but our room was quiet because it faced a well in the building; not attractive but lets in air and light.

Staff did not speak english at all and as i don't speak Italian all communication was by signs and smiles, but everyone was very friendly, room was more spacious than I expected for money and extremely clean, no breakfast facilities, but we knew that beforehand, so ok. Only improvement I could suggest is perhaps a kettle and mugs in room, other than that this was a perfect place for a short (or even longer) stay in Florence; excellent value for budget travellers, I dont think you could do better for the money, room would easily accomodate couple and two children.

Wi-Fi would be great!!

Tourist House is located in the middle of the action. It is within a 2 minute walk to the Duomo and its Museum (Pieta) and the Cathedral, and a 5 minute walk to the Galleria De'La Academia (David) and the San Marcos Plaza. It is also about 15 minutes (walking) from the train station which made it very convenient. It is also GREAT for some last minute shopping as you are literally smack in the middle of the shopping center it seems. We stopped by "Micro Firenze" a tiny store that retails women handmade bags for around 100 Euros and they are gorgeous! the Bata shoe store is also around the corner and their shoe selection is fantastic and very affordable. The "5th Avenue" section of town is behind Tourist House (about 5 minute walk)and you can find Louis Vuitton, Gucci, etc. However, if relaxation is what you want I suggest you go elsewhere. This bead & breakfast was an apartment building and some of the rooms are right outside the elevator and you can hear people going up and down all night long, as well as the people on the streets. The good news is that Italians are late starters and they don't head out until after 8 am.

La calidad de la construcción es muy buena, pero la calidad de los muebles es tan mala que la cama era muy ruidosa y no permitía descansar.

L'hotel è proprio dietro il battistero. lo abbiamo trovato comodissimo per girare Firenze a piedi, con un ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Assolutamente consigliabile per una visita turistica della città. nonostante alcune finestre diano sulla strada i doppi vetri assicurano un ottimo isolamento acustico. Le camere non sono troppo grandi e sono arredate in modo spartano ma c'è davvero tutto quello che serve. Unica pecca: Per chi cerca zone comuni non ce ne sono ed in particolare non si può fare colazione in albergo perchè manca questo servizio ma noi non lo abbiamo reputato minimamente rilevante.
