Second time in Firenze on vacation This must be the best location by far being a few steps away from the Duomo. made to feel welcome and advice given when asked for. The residence is on the fourth floor of a large building and we booked a Duomo view which we certainly got in 3D.

This is an amazing B&B and the owners are very friendly and helpful. We had a few minor issues during our stay (food poisoning from a dodgy restaurant) and they worked very hard to make things better for us. We have stayed here in the past and loved it, and this trip only reinforced that for us. We can't wait to stay here again!

The hotel was excellent and our host and hostess were superb, they really cared about their guests, the rooms were as promised and the view from the patio was better than expected. The location was very convenient to catch tours, and a very short walk from the train station, staying at this property was a pleasure and the staffs were very pleasant and eager to please. We would indeed stay here again.

This was our second trip to Residenza Giotto. We arrange our whole trip to go back. Silva was lovely and engaging. Very helpful and well engaged. The location is amazing if you want to be close to the Duomo. We loved sitting on the terrace, drinking wine, visiting with other guests and watching the sunset with the Duomo right there. Great place.

Residenza Giotto was fantastic! My husband and I had an amazing time in Florence and Sylvia and Giorgio were so helpful. The hotel was in a great location right next door to the Duomo and just a few steps from a remarkable piazza that has great restuarants and entertainment in the evening. The only downfall was the rooms were not exactly what they portrayed in the pictures on their website. Not as clean as they should be either. Breakfast was a normal breakfast...nothing fancy. Overall, we would stay here again because of the great location and hospitality.

We could not have chosen a better location for our 4 day stay. Residenza Giotto is right in the middle of everything one wants to see in Florence. It is clean, safe, convenient and Giorgio abd Sylvia are so attentive to one's needs sand requests. They provided us with recommendations for restaurants, made our museum reservations. Fabulousview of the Duomo from our bedroom window: first view in the morning; last at night!

Residenza Giotto was a great choice on our part. The location was perfect, right next to the Duomo in the center of Firenze, of which our room had a view. There are major museums located at the same piazza. It's just a walk down the street to the Porto Vecchio bridge and even closer to the major sites. This is an ideal location. The care-takers, Sylvia and Giorgio, were excellent and extremely helpful. They booked our reservations on line for us on their computer at the front desk. They also allowed us to use their computer to check our e-mail and train schedules. The room was air conditioned and spacious, though the bathroom was small. The continental breakfast was excellent, with great tasting croissants, cheeses, capuccino and espresso. They have a nice veranda outside the breakfast room for a beautiful morning view. The only drawback is the many steps to the 4th floor, though they have a slow elevator which was key for lugging our bags. This is a great choice for the price.

The best thing about this accommodation was the location. Very easy short walk from the train station and close to the centre for sightseeing. A little expensive to stay for more than a night or 2 but well but very convenient. Room was very well presented and had everything needed except an iron. The hosts were very helpful and friendly with great english. The double glazing was very good to block out as much sound as possible. Oh and Florence is stunning!

Residenza Giotto is definitely a place where we would stay again. The staff is very friendly and helpful. When we arrived, Sylvia greated us with a warm smile and helped locate good restaraunts and shopping on a map. In the mornings Giorgio greeted us everyday with a smile and actually served our breakfast to us. It is located next to the Duomo so the bells are easily heard; however, they do not go off hourly. My wife and I were extremely pleased with Residenza Giotto.

The Residenza Giotto was one of those "better than expected" pleasant surprises. Wonderful location just a minute from the Duomo and a spectacular view of the same from the outdoor patio. The room was clean, the shower typically small and the staff was friendly and very helful (they booked tickets for the Uffizzi which we had forgot to do). It was sad to leave! Only spent one night but enjoyed it very much. No difficulty finding building but went to wrong floor but was directed to correct floor. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. She recommended a local restaurant that was wonderful and not very touristy. The view of the Companille was good. Do expect the bells to ring frequently but they don't ring at night. Brilliant little modest almost budget hotel, and yes it is hard to find, unless you just ask to be dropped or get to the front of the Duomo square,(Piazza San Giovanni) then as you face the front building in front of the actual Duomo (it'll make sense when you are there, look to the shop on your left on the corner of the main road (currently Chanel)...its the doors next door on from there on Via Roma! It's right in the middle of everything, short amble to the ponte vecchio and accessible to all the sights/markets and so, not far from bar zurito just down from the square on via del servi, and worth the walk to ristorante San D'Agostino on the via of that name and the corner of Via Maffia (true!)Barbara is the wonderful receptionist and maybe the most beautiful girl in all of Italy!

Great location. As with many Italian buildings there are six number plaques on each door, so I had to call to find the last few blocks of direction. But, my call was answered, and good directions where given once we explained where we were. This IS the Florence location! Easy to get to everything, a view of the Duomo from the roof terrace, and still quiet at night. This IS NOT really a B&B, don't expect a fancy breakfast. Canned juice, packaged pastry, dry cereal in small boxes, all in the room. But, for the price I'd say this is bonus anyway. The price covers the room and location, and feel happy to have cool drinks if you get thirsty in the middle of the night. Think of it this way and you won't be disappointed.

We loved our stay at this hotel. The only drawback is that you must, upon first arrival, be very attentive to the numbers of the signs. We walked past it a couple of times before we found it. The Residenza Giotto is really in the middle of things. There is only one other doorway between it and the Duomo. You can easily walk just about anywhere in Florence from this location without stressing your feet. The people who work there are informative and helpful and speak excellent English. The room was smallish, but very well-designed and the price was divine for the posh neighborhood. We did not spend a lot of time hanging around the Residenza because we had so much that we wanted to do in Florence. The breakfast offers an abundant selection of the usual Italian breakfast things. Just around the corner was an exceptional coffee bar and I tended to go there for morning coffee. I should note that we are the kinds of travelers who really appreciate good rates and who do not need the posh stuff. All of the hotels in this district probably cost at least twice as much. But isn't it divine to be right next door to the Florence Duomo? To be able to walk easily to the Uffizio? It could get a bit noisy at night but it's the neighborhood---the whole neighborhood was noisy at night. We slept right though it all. We would certainly return to Residenza Giotto. It is NOT huge or luxurious; the elevator is quite a miniature, indeed. But if you are budget minded, this is a dream location at a great price.

This was generally a great place to stay. Only two things. First, given the price, I really think they could put just a tiny bit more effort into the breakfast. They have a wonderful breakfast room/patio and they don't use it like they should. Putting out a modestly better breakfast (i.e. not prepackaged 'croissants' and 'toast' but the genuine article) would cost more, but it would make things so much better. Second, is it really too much to ask that a hotel like this have one iron and ironing board for use by guests? That was a little surprising that they had not thought about it or thought it important. It's not an expensive acccessory!

The hotel is incredibly convenient to just about everything you would want to see in Florence. The view from my room (#3, I think) was of the Duomo - it looked like you reach out and touch it, it was so close. You'd think noise would be a problem, but I didn't notice any except the bells waking me up in the morning. The room was quiet, clean, air-conditioned (!! - this was really great) and spacious for a European hotel room. I will definitely stay at Residenza Giotto on my next trip to Florence.

Just a 1/2 block from the Duomo that overlooked the terrace and filled the view from our window, we could not have asked for a better location. The building was secure, comfortable and modern. Recommended by RIck Steve's as well the B and B offered a good value for the money. For me the room could have been a touch tidier(the mirror was smudged)but...my only real complaint would be the contraption they call a shower. I have never seen such a thing, metal bars that fold and unfold to create a "shower stall" in the middle of the bathroom. It did not work and the bathroom was flooded and all extra towels used to mop up after each shower. HOpefully they read this and fix the problem. On the other hand, we chose to stay in Florence 2 extra days to take in more the city had to offer. The front Desk staff were ridiculously friendly and helpful in making all the calls necessary to find us another room in the same general area for the same price. It was actually an upgrade to a very expensive B and B (usually nearly twice the price we paid)we could not have afforded otherwise! The customer service was stellar, the best of all our B and Bs. I would stay here again and again. Thanks so much for a comfortable place to end our day.

R Giotto is best value for money and is perhaps the most spacious in my entire stay throughout Italy. For one, it is just next to the Duomo and less than 5 mins to most attractions like the Old Palace, etc. Though breakfast is not the best, the room is comfortable even for 3 pax but the best thing is still its convenience. Definitely better than most other hotels in the vicinity where value for money is concerned.

The location is great, however the poor quality of the pre-packed breakfast is a real turn off. Ask for a price without breakfast and find a place nearby to have a real coffee and croissant. The lady at the front desk is not as friendly and welcoming as her male partner. Still, the main benefit of this place is location...location...location.

Can't beat the location - literally next to the Duomo in the center of Florence - and easy access to all the sites, restaurants, etc. The staff was very helpful with suggestions and extremely accomodating for our group (6 girls, coming and going.) However, the drawback: this B&B is located on the 4th (or 5th) floor and unless you can fit everyone and all your luggage in the tiny elevator, you've got quite a flight of stairs to climb. We didn't mind (exercise) but if you are older, you might want to think about it. Also, the breakfast is just a tray with wrapped crackers and goodies, room temp milk and juice... jam. Not fresh. But, overall, I would still highly recommend and would stay there again. Also, very private and safe.

We enjoyed our stay in Florence. The Residenza Giotta was a great place; clean, spacious, and centrally located.

Surely one of the best places to stay in Florence. More like an apartment with room service. Beautiful large room (number 6) with a view to die for. Breakfast is prepacked the day before, so limited in quality, but there are plenty of places to get a coffee and croissant right on the doorstep. The north facing roof terrace is a fabulous refuge from the heat and crowds of midday. We enjoyed bread and olive oil with wine every day, bought from the nearby Mercato Centrale. The bells from Giotto's tower are the best wake-up call you can imagine. They start at 7.00am - just right to get to the sights before the crowds!

This Residenza Giotto is a real find..right in the very heart of the Centro Storico. The staff was very helpful at all times. This is a wonderful intimate set of rooms. We would stay there again and have recommended it to friends. The terrace off the TV/kitchen salon is magnificent, with a fabulous view of the Campanile of the Duomo. (However, the bells ring every morning at 7:45, so you won't need an alarm clock!) We had a nightcap each evening on the terrace; couldn't think of a more delightful end to the day. The only negative I would mention would be that for a B&B, the breakfast was a little disappointing as it consisted of a tray in your room, with a hot water heater for instant coffee and assorted crackers & American cereal (!)..we passed on this and ate across the street at Scudieri for less than 2.00 euros each day instead. However, the staff was very understanding and offered to make us fresh coffee in the kitchen. The elevator broke down on our last day and we had to climb 4 flights of stairs and carry our luggage down with the help of the cleaning man. Admittedly, the elevator was a building wide problem and could not be helped by the staff at the Residenza. All things considered however, a great place to stay.

There was no garage near the B&B. We had to let a boy from a distant garage take our car there and paid 20 Euros for less than 24 hours, which we found quite expensive.
