Barbara House - Guest House - Florence

Very close to the train station. We had a private WC but when we were out, it was used by other people. WC not clean. We were there for 3 nights and towels were never changed.

Place was in a great location. 5-7 minute walk to duomo accademia uffizi. Room was kind of dirty. Mosquitoes and bugs smashed on walls and could have generally used a coat of paint. Room smelled of smoke and just a bit small. Bathroom was small and shower flooded slightly. Could have been cleaner. But definitely stayable for the more durable traveller. My girlffriend didn't like it much though.

Skip the airconditioning. Doesn't work. Location is perfect for making trips into city. Can be quitte noisy, even when you are on backside of house.You can park beneath the house, but you will have to enter the restricted zone. You need to warn owners to enter street.

I'm used to European Hotels by now. Shared bathroom, overall, ok. Just didn't shower. Room was by the street, and the hotel was right next to a Youth Hostel--lots of very happy kids past midnight. Walked up to the 3rd floor. But good work-out after pasta.. Very, very near to the Leather Shops and the Mercato Centrale. A BIG plus...the Duomo is a few minutes away. Enjoyed the great shops!!Hotel is just a place to sleep anyway.

It was a whole new experience for me and my mom plus my friends (a couple). It's very Italian B&B which is what I expected. The owners were very friendly. However, they don't speak English. Location is good, near SMN station. There's a nice yogurt and gelato place at the ground floor. This place is OK if you do not have that much luggage because you will have to take the stairs (up to 3 flights). There's an elevator for luggages but you still have to carry them from 2/F to 3/F. There's no aircon - but weather was fine when we visited last May 2011. Place is clean. But if you expect a 5-star hotel bed and room, then I would recommend you look for a hotel instead of staying a B&B. But if you want the feel of being in an Italian home, this might be the place for you.

The place was difficult to find, the only sign is on the doorbell. They upgraded our room for free. They didn't speak much English. The location was good for being close to the train station and the sites. But it was a bad location for noise. There is a youth hostal next to it where the kids would play guitar all night trying to win girls, and they sucked or were drunk. With the thin walls it was impossible to block them our without ear plugs. I think the owner smokes (like half of Europe) but they did it inside sometimes which left the hallways smelly.
