Inn Riad Ibn Khaldoun - Fès

Overall, our stay was pleasant, but we didn't have the fabulous experience described by some of the other reviewers. Our room was on the top floor of the riad, and we were disappointed by the lack of privacy. The room had two very large (floor to ceiling) windows, with only sheer curtains covering them, one of which was directly in front of the bed. We had also hoped to arrange to be picked up from the train station, as it can be difficult to find places in the medina for the first time. This was standard practice for the riad we stayed at in Marrakesh, so we didn't think it was that peculiar of a request. When we inquired, we were directed to take a taxi to a nearby location and telephone the riad from there. Not the end of the world, but after a 7 hour train ride it would have been nice to just arrive at the riad directly rather than standing around in an unfamiliar city with a pile of luggage trying to get a pay phone to work. Also be prepared for the owners to want to play "Dress up the Tourist" with you if you elect to have dinner in the riad. We were informed after dinner that it was time for the "fashion show", and piles of traditional 19th century Fassi garments were brought out for us to put on. Not really our thing, but your mileage may vary.
