Firstly, we can not say enough about Laurence and Bernard. They are the best hosts we have ever had. We started our stay with Laurence meeting us at the parking lot where the taxi brought us from the airport (which she arranged no charge). She then guided us to the B&B and gave us a lot of very useful information regarding her B&B and of the Medina. The breakfasts they provided were excellent and would satisfy anyones appetite. At the end of the day we arrived back with warm welcomes, fresh fruit, sweets and more water. Recommendations for restaurants, bargaining in the medina and day trips were available at any time. The B&B itself was beautiful, the rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. The roof top terrace provided relaxation with a great view. Be sure to have dinner at Dar Hatim.

We went to Fes for a few days break and cannot fault Dar Melody. The hospitality was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was delicious and varied from day to day. Bernard and Laurence were fantastic hosts and couldn't have been more kind or helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

I had an absolutely wonderful 3 nights' stay at Dar Melody. The B&B is stunningly gorgeous, with traditional decorations, colours, and architectural detail. The ‘Blue Room’ where I stayed was quite big, beautiful and had everything I needed. It’s located near the bottom of the Medina, which is a perfect location if you wish to take a taxi up to the main ‘blue gate’ and snake your way down through the many winding roads in the direction of the B&B. It is very close to the large tannery (one the major attractions to see in Fes), but far enough away that the smell does not reach it. The breakfasts provided were a mixture of traditional Moroccan and French and were both delicious and filling. The best part about Dar Melody was the owners. Bernard and Laurence were amazing hosts. They made me feel more than welcome and were able to find me a private English speaking guide for my first full day in Fes. I highly recommend Dar Melody and would love to go back.

I'm just back from a 2-night break in Fes and it was indeed a very pleasant stay. Simply wonderful. I have now 2 friends in Fes: Laurence and Bernard who run the Dar "Melodiously". Hope to seem them soon.

Wonderful place, huge rooms and bathrooms, very personal and attentive service provided by french owners. Located "off the beaten track" in Fes medina, it offers everyday-life typical surroundings, far from tourist crowds (need a taxi ride to reach restaurants). Highly, highly recommended, especially for longer stays.

Fantastic house and hospitality at an incredibly attractive price. The breakfast presentation was extraordinary and different each day making it a pleasure to wake up. The best location during our stay in Morocco.

We felt more welcomed that the son and daughter coming back to Mom and Dad after a long, long, time! Laurence and Bernard really go completely out of their way to please and assist you. Once I commented that we liked a soft drink from Morocco (we discovered it once after almost dying of thirst while walking in the heat, and become addicted to it, "Hawai" I think was its name, it was a delicious tropical fruit mix, and we DO NOT use to drink soft beverages in our country at all) and the next day they have it in the hotel. Bernard picked us up after midnight from the train station and he and his son carried most of the luggage from the parking lot all the way up to the hotel, and they did not even charge us for the pick up service). They also took us to the train station the day we left, and gave us a doggy bag to have a snack during the trip. They are so lovely and so extremely nice, truly a gem in hospitality --I am really sorry that my French is almost inexistent, so I cannot thank them enough. Look, we travel very often and, really, have never experienced such a warm and tender service; it is like being part of the family. And to top it off, our room, located in the upstairs terrace, was unbelievable, the old hand painted and restored ceiling made us feel like in our own palace. This is the ONLY place to stay in Fès, look no further!!! Thank you Laurence & Bernard, hope to see you soon either in Morocco or in Peru!

Dar Melody's greatest asset (beyond being a beautiful, spacious riad) is its gracious owners, Bernard & Laurence. You'll be well looked after in a city that can be a little intimidating at first. I'd stay at Dar Melody again in a heartbeat and would not hesitate to recommend it to someone wishing to stay in the Fes-el-Bali medina.

Faultless! What a wonderful stay and memorable experience. Laurence and Bernard are to be congratulated on their hospitality, attention to detail, kindness and quality of accommodation, breakfast and arrangements made. Starting with Bernard patiently waiting at the station for 1 and a 1/2 hours for our late train to arrive, to organising the guide, suggestions on where to eat and generally being such kind hosts. It was a home away from home! Arriving down the dark alley to their wonderful guesthouse was heaven and we noticed no smell whatsoever from the tanneries. A perfect stay and we would recommend it to anyone.

Morocco is a fascinating country, even for girls like us who had not the slightest idea what was waiting in Fes. This city gives you glimpses of the fantastic, the atmosphere unforgettable. We will always remember this wonderful holiday with enthusiasm. But it would not have been the same wonderful experience without the advice of Laurence and Bernard, two wonderful owner "Dar Melody." Their kindness and sympathy, the overwhelming availability did not really compare. The house is a dream, very large spaces, personal bathroom and shower. The location is conducive to traveling, a few steps from the tanneries (must for anyone visiting the city). We recommend to all this beautiful bed and breakfast (although to call it that is almost minimize) the warmth and friendliness of the owners and Hannan, there will certainly disappoint!

Bernard and Laurence were absolutely wonderful. Everything about Dar Melody was charming. The only regret I had was not being able to speak French. They arranged a guide for us to explore the old medina and the whole experience made Fes the highlight of my trip to Morocco.

Helpful, thoughtful, knowledgeable and generous hosts. Wonderful inside courtyard. Delicious breakfast. Home away from home hospitality. Lovely rooftop terrace overlooking the medina. Rooms are very large, comfortable and nicely decorated. Our one concern was that our room (Orange?), unfortunately, did not have a private bathroom space (ie. curtain versus wooden shutters between bathroom and inner courtyard as well as between bathroom and sleeping area). This lack of privacy, for us, was a bit awkward, - and became more awkward since we were both violently ill for a good 36 hours, stumbling from the bed to the toilet numerous times - being sick was bad . . . the lack of privacy made it even worse. The other rooms do have beautiful private bathrooms and would both be the more ideal choices for complete privacy.

My husband and I recently stayed at Dar Melody for 2 nights and enjoyed ourselves very much...our only disappointment was that they didn't have room for us to stay longer! Our room was nicely appointed with a massive en suite and a beautiful views into the courtyard below. While we would agree that the location isn't the best, we did appreciate that it was close to the tanneries and also that it allowed us to have an excuse for an interesting walk each day. While the main "action" of the souk is on the other side of the medina, it's only about 30 minutes on foot (5 minutes by taxi) and part of the fun of the medina is wandering around and getting lost. As far as we're concerned, it doesn't matter which end you start in, you're going to be circling around and exploring anyway! Additionally, the amazing service and care that we experienced more than made up for any downside to the location. When we arrived to the train station, we were greeted by Bernard who was kind enough to pick us up, show us around a bit (including taking photos of us!) and bring us to the Dar. His lovely wife, Laurence, and the gorgeous Hannah, a Moroccan girl who works there, took such good care of us and made us feel right at home. They spoiled us with everything from beautiful melon and fresh OJ on arrival to yummy breakfasts with such a kind and caring manner...it made us sad to leave such a wonderful place!
