It's the only place I like to stay at in Barcelona. It's small and you are given the keys and off you go. The neighborhood is convenient and nearby are larger 4 and 5 star hotels. At Girona, I felt like it was my own apartment. Staff is available from 7am to midnight if you need assistance. The elevator is a classic (make sure to shut the doors) and the décor of the public areas is very taste- ful. Whether you choose the shared bath facility rooms or private everything is clean and wonderful. My home in Barcelona.

I cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough. After a frustrating day and a half delay, thanks French ATC, we arrived and were dealt with by the very capable Lorenzo. I had already been in contact with him over the delay and he had held our rooms for us. As I made a mistake on the email of the new date of our arrival, we ended up sharing a lovely 3 bed room with our travelling companion for one night, but this didn't matter at all. We moved to our twin room the night after. this room wasnt as large as the 3 bed room, or as quiet, but I always travel with earplugs so that any city noise is blocked out when i want to sleep. The hotel is clean, comfortable and relatively easy to find. It's an old style Barcelona house but I prefer this to newer, modern places. We weren't in much anyway as we were spending our days at the Catalunya Circuit in Montmelo. The location is within about ten minutes walking to Placa Catalunya, the Girona Metro stop two mins walk away. Plenty of little cafes, and a couple of small supermarkets around if you need supplies. I think I have found a lovely place to stay in Barcelona, and will definitely be back here next year.

I enjoyed my four-day stay, thanks to the excellent, central location of the hotel. The bedroom (and bathroom) was a bit cramped and not really fit for spending too much of time in. But it is good value.

Hotel is in good location. Staff, or boss of the hotel is friendly, helpful and speak in English. All hotel like private big and nice apartment. But the room - was very small, dark and poor. The biggest problem was that our room No. 24 had no windows, or it had one closed window to yard-shaft, so all time was the night... The light in the room was blue, like in the prison, no lamp near the bad for reading. Maybe other rooms are bigger and with windows...

In the room was a sink and shower so small as to be nearly unusable. It was only by accident that I discovered a full-sized shower down the hall available to anyone in the hotel; no one had told me about it. The mattress was so hard it felt like a box spring. There was no sound isolation from neighboring rooms; I could follow conversations in those rooms word for word, and in fact in a normal voice, I could have joined in their conversations! The "balcony" on to which my one window opened was such that I didn't feel secure leaving my window open at night. THe several times I dealt with staff, they provided me the help or information I needed or requested but I couldn't say they were friendly or pleasant.

The hostal is very centrally located and within walking distance from Placa Catalunya. Everything was excellent, apart from the fact that the room (#26) is not well insulated: you can hear noises in the hallway in front of the room as well as your neighbours' conversations and TV. I guess this is because the building was most probably a private residence and not meant to be a hotel.

As a female and travlling alone, safety is of the most important. Girona was my right Chioce. The surrounding is safe, quiet. It locates in the central of the city. Plaza Catalunya, supermarkrts, metros and buses to the airport are all within 10 minutes walk. The hotel staff are warmly and friendly. The room is very clean. If I visit Barcelona again, I will stay in it for certain.

This was our first stay at a hostal. We decided to try it because of the option of an in room bath with shower and balcony and because of the beauty of the facility. It was just exactly what we were looking for at half the price of comparable hotel rooms. The manager was so helpful when we had problems with the striking airline, allowing us to use his cell phone and computer. We also liked the location, convenient to everything and the availability of coffee and food close by. We loved the beautiful old tile floor and nice furnishings in our room The only possible complaint would be the lack of hooks, towel bars and/or shelfs in the bathroom.

Room clean and the staff most helpful, speaking good English. The only window (to the double room) was very hard to open so the room was rather hot and stuffy. Take care to note the street number (24 Carrer Girona) as the front door is one of several to a business school and the name appears only in small letters next to the entrance intercom.

I chose Girona for its price (cheapest I could find with own bathroom) and location. On the positive side, it was well located in relation to the old city, transport and tiurist attractions. It also had airconditioning which was very welcome as there was an unseasonal heatwave while I was there. The bed was comfortable and linen clean. The room itself and bathroom were VERY small and basic with none of the usual 'extras' such as a mini fridge (and nowhere on the premises to get a cool drink), toiletries (apart from handwash), hairdryer, reading lamps, phone or even a bathmat. As a single traveller I was also hoping that a hotel would provide some human contact but this was entirely missing. Reception is behind a locked door with a bell - someone comes to the door to see what you want.Apart from showing me to my room and providing keys, there was no welcome, conversation, information, local map or directions. The wifi password was not provided until I rang the bell and asked for it and although I stayed 4 nights, I saw no other guests.

Cosy hotel, nice decoration, quiet, located between 3 metro station (Girona, Tetuan, Urquinaona) so you can choose your line following your destination. Lift. Single rooms are dark, small and noisy (next to reception, toilet or street). Nice staff, speaking english. Common bathroom very clean, sweet towels regularly changed. I am satisfied with my stay despite the noise of the works (façade renovation). Nights were quiet. I will certainly come back to Girona hotel next time. Double rooms seem really better and bigger than single. Hotel and surroundings are safe for single female traveller.

Please indicate that the nearest metro station is TETUAN and not Catalunia. The only negative thing was that we did not get the room I had booked on the first night bit they moved us the next night and they also reduced the price for the first night. One surprise: I thought that I had already paid through your system but in fact I had to pay at the end. I hope this is correct and that I did not pay twice!!!

My first time in Barcelona, I truly liked this Hostel, At first I was a bit hesitant about staying in a Hostel seeing that I’ve never done so before never the last for the price, cleanliness, and location it was priceless. Close to great tourist places and to some small supermarket. I am sure my husband and I would not mind staying here again. Just one thing, I wish the reception area would have offer more information for tourist, nevertheless we did find the brochure for a free walking tour, it turned out to be the best tour I’ve ever had and I’ve traveled around the world. Our room did not have a toilet, just a small shower area, sink, bad, dresser, desk, great plasma tv (mostly catalan channels, but with my husband’s French and my Spanish we were able to figure out what was taking place in the screen) and of course night stands, it was perfect. I thought it was going to bother me not having our own full bathroom but we were hardly in our room, and the restrooms were marvelous clean, and modern. My stay was great. Hope this is helpful, Buenos viajes!!!PS. am actually from the US but we were in Burkina Faso when we decided to travel to Barcelona before coming back to the US.

After reading various reviews of other hostals in Barcelona, I was really pleased that this place turned out to be a gem. The location is excellent - only about 3 blocks from the metro and equi-distant from several key sight-seeing places (within walking distance). Very quiet location. Plenty of cafes nearby for breakfast. Our room was also exceptionally quiet. The bed was excellent and the bedding spotless. Toilets were exceptionally clean. Free WiFi. Staff were very helpful. Overall, very good value for money. I would definitely stay here again.

Hostal Girona is a fantastic place to stay while in Barcelona. We had a double room with a shower and sink (in the room - note, not a separate bathroom), and also a small enclosed balcony, which was really lovely. The toilets are down the hall, but this was not really an issue for us. And the bathrooms are so good we took our showers there most of the time anyway. The room was definitely adequate, bed comfortable and staff generally friendly. Noise between rooms was that of every other hotsal or pension we have encountered in Spain - pretty poor. However, this hostal is so lovely, the common areas very warm and comfortable, and bathrooms are amazing!!! - that it makes up for any noise you might hear. The location is great - only 10-15 min walk to main sights, and, even as it was our first trip to Spain - much better than staying in the old town. Don't ingore L'Eixemple on your trip to Spain - so many great restaurants, beautiful streets etc to be found here!! It may not be the place for young single travellers hoping to meet others, but for a private, clean and peaceful stay in Barcelona, we would always recommend Hostal Girona.

The hostal was hard to find. They share a building with a business school and you have to look really closely at the name on the door to see that the hostal is in that building. The little lobby area was nicely decorated and the single room with private bathroom I had was pretty spacious. The shower/sink made noise whenever the water was running. It was bearable at first but by the third day it was annoying me. My room also overlooked the little courtyard in the building so it was loud during the night because you could hear the doors shutting all night. I would recomment requesting a room that does not overlook the courtyard. The hotel was just a few blocks from some of the main plazas but it was a comfortable area and I felt safe there at night traveling as a single women. Overall, the stay was great.

The room we stayed in at Hostal Girona was large and very clean. The shared bathroom was also large and all kept very clean. The Hostal was quiet, apart from the odd noisy pipe, and the decor very attractive. We found it easy to get to points of interest in Barcelona. Unfortunately the owners/reception were so unfriendly I would not recommend this hostal for any non Spanish speaking guests. While we tried to use our limited Spanish this was not appreciated and after being shown our rooms we were told reception was not available. We stayed elsewhere later in our trip.

The Hostal is a little bit difficult to find, because of the really small sign in front of the door. The rooms are all in the second floor and were clean. When have arrived to hotel, we had to wait for 10 minutes while the mistress will have a good long talk by phone. It at once has created negative opinion. However the mistress has apologized. When us have got in our double room, we were in horror. It was a small closet. Next day we have asked to replace to us number. I'm so glad I picked the Hostal Girona. Once you acclimate to the metro - the Urquinona station is close to the hotel. From the airport I took the bus to Placa Catalunya (the last stop)& enjoyed the walk. I kept asking people along the way for their help. Everyone is so friendly in this great city. I felt safe. There are grocery stores & places to eat within walking distance. The hostal was in a quiet location. When you 1st arrive look for the flags for the school - the hostal shares the building with a school. For an active walker or person in good physical condition - it is delightful to walk through the neighborhoods - Las Ramblas & the Cathedral. The information station is at Placa Cataluyna underground (look for the red "I") & can help with anything you need. This hotel was a true delight !!

The Hostal Girona would be best suited to the 'careful' guest. There is a very beautiful old antique lift, which needs careful and considerate handling. the hostal is a family home and has beautiful ornaments and furniture in its public areas, which wouldnt suit wrecklessness/drunkenness or disrespect. our first time to stay there and would definitely recommend it. there are some rooms with large balcony which are very quiet - excellent for the light sleeper. I was very impressed with this hotel, probably because I thought it would be more like a hostel, but was impressed to find better quality. My husband and I visited this past June, and stayed for a few days. We were in the room directly off the lobby area, so it was slightly noisy one night, but nothing I couldn't sleep through. While the room was small, it was perfectly comfortable for the two of us. The water was hot, the room was cleaned every day, and the staff were friendly. I think the only complaint I would have are the directions from the airport, as they are vague. We ended up wandering around for way too long in the heat trying to find this place. I would recommend looking them up on google maps before you go, as it wasn't as straight forward as they appeared.

I have stayed this hotel in April 2008. On their website, it looked and sounded just the sort of budget hotel I was looking for. A hotel with old charactor. But the furnitures in the room were all made with plywood, and just pretending to look antique. The room size was ok. Outside of the window was a tiny square space and all I could see was 3 walls and some airconditioning boxes. You have to stick your head out and look right up to see a small square of sky. Felt like being in a prizon without bars. Shower cubicle was small. As I arrived I noticed the water in the toilet was dark brown. It went clear after I flashed, so I thought they didn't clean it properly. But next morning it was dark brown again. The dirty water must come from neighbouring room or flats. As I was just falling asleep after midnight, I was suddenly woken up by thundering noise of gushing water coming from above. It was so lond that I wondered if the water would come through the ceiling! I turned the light on to see what it was. I could see a pipe coming down the ceiling along the wall and towards my bathroom area. This happed several more times before finally gone quiet. But then it started all over again in the morning. Oh, and also a person lives upstaires wearing shoes with heels started using washing machine at 6AM. It appeared to be coming from toilet upstairs. Clearly, the sewage system in the building seems to be connected to each other. I could also see some cardboard boxes thrown on top of a space above bathroom area. The room was more like a storage room and should not be used as a guest room. Early next morning I picked a hotel from my guide book and phoned to book. I told the lady (appeared to be the owner) that the noise of drainage was unbearable so I wished to leave. She blamed the guest staying in the room next to me! She then said she was going to move me to the room in the main building which would be quieter. Why didn't she do so in the first place? She must have been aware

The Hotel was beautifull and a very nice and well looking old hotel. the only problem we had is we missing covers in the night. it was too cold without covers and so it was a little bit freezing in the night. In the second night we ask for covers and get some. So everything was all right ;-)

I stayed there with my 16-year old daughter, and we both recommend the place for people who need a place just to stay and sleep during their stay in Barcelona. We recommend the place warmly!

Very good location, near Plaza Catalunya, and great room. The employees were nice but not very helpful when asking about touristic information, laundry service, etc. The only problem is that the shower is very small.

Overall it was a very nice stay in this Hostel. The room is very clean. I’m really like the building and it located in the quite area of the town. The map on the website doesn't help much and it will take about 10 min to walk from Placa Catalunya.

It was like that the staff were not happy to see me. I asked for informations and they were very unpleased to give it to me. I could not find a Barcelonas map on Hostel Girona. They didnt know a taxi phone number to call to go to the airport.

Travelled to Barcelona with a friend who used to live there. We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel but would have stayed longer if a room had been available. Great character and features.

Staff was not welcoming at all, room was tiny and had nothing to do with the picture in web. Price was high, considering the quality. Pipes were noisy and you could hear all the movements from the hallway. Bad service overall!

The room was very good, however the bathroom was quite small and difficult to manouver in, e.g. when getting out of the shower. The location is advertised as close to barrio gothic, however, it's quite a walk away, and you're better off taking the metro. Catalunya square isn't exactly very close, it's about 15 minutes walk, which if you've walked all day, may be quite tiresome. Not that many restaurants nearby and you'll be quite reliant on the metro to go out at night.

I was very pleased with my stay in this hostel. It was clean, well situated and charming. The hostel is located on the first floor in a big old house downtown Barcelona (only 7 minutes away on foot from Plaça Catalunya).

The venue is excellent. Staff were helpful when requested. My room (no 1) was right by the staff area and it was a bit noisy late at night. However, for the price this was an excellent stay. Rooms were cleaned each day. Everything was done as it should be. Recommended.

Hostal Girona hostess made us feel welcome, the room was much larger than other Hostals we have stayed in. Location puts you in walking distance to downtown and easy access to metro we would stay again in a future visit.

Wonderful stay in that hostal. You can easily reach every point of the city from there, by underground as well as on foot, since it's very close to placa de catalunya, la rambla, el palau de la musica, casa battlò and all the marvellous modernists' architectures. The building is a good example of early twentieth century architcture (art nouveau) as well as a few buildings of the eixample. Rooms are not so special, but clean. I recommend Hostal Girona.
