Hotel Hyatt Regency Crystal City at Reagan National Airport - Arlington, Washington

Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with my most recent stay. The hotel is currently remodeling the lobby. Although this will likely make it more appealing in the future, it severely detracted from my stay. Along with our convention there were two others and only two or three working elevators. One morning I waited twenty minutes for an elevator. The lobby restaurant was also closed. Most frustrating was that the hotel required one to use their internet connection at $10/day. We have an aircard but the signal was blocked by the hotel. The room had no mini bar. Our room was close to the ice machine and boy were we reminded of that anytime someone went to get ice. In general the staff were very friendly and although the metro stop was not within walking distance the shuttle drivers were efficient and courteous.

We did not know that the hotel was under renovation. The lobby was torn up and there were no amenities, e.g., gift shop, coffee shop, etc. Also, there was no mention of the cost of parking our car. Other than that, it was a great hotel.

I was one of the organizers of a conference which we held at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City Hotel. It was NOT a good experience, and I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone planning a conference. While the check-in staff and the sleeping rooms were nice, the public and conference areas were unsatisfactory. For example: 1 - The floor leading into Independence-B was un-even and dirty. 2 - The screens provided by the hotel were too small, and the sound was inadequate. Therefore, people sitting in the back half of some conference session rooms could not see or hear the presentations properly. 3 - The lobby entrance and the front of the hotel were under construction. 4 - There was a water leak into Independence-A, which made that room un-usable. The alternative space that we were forced to use resulted in portions of our conference (Independence-B) being isolated away from the rest of the conference. 5 - There was very loud equipment in the ceiling of Independence-B (ventilation equipment?), that made it impossible to hold a conversation in parts of that room.

Very nice, clean, quiet. Nice restaurants and a few shopping malls in proximity. Good connection to the metro station - shuttle bus every 15 min.
