Hotel Reviews Fornells Park (Husa Hotels)
Single traveller
Netherlands, Oct 2009
Very far by walk from Girona but ask explanation from the reception how to get hotel from the airport or from Girona and they will explain that it is just 1.35$ by public bus which goes every hour from Girona airport to Girona itself via a hotel bus-stop. Also the hotel has amazing pool!
Australia, Sep 2009
I thought this was a little pricey considering the area and one of the beds was a fold-up but was very comfortable. Wouldn't say the reception was real welcoming but the hotel certainly served it's purpose at the time. We needed to be close to the industrial area of Salt and this hotel was only minutes away.

The write up, reviews and photos on the web page flatter to deceive. This is a grand looking building but distinctly tired, certainly in the old part of the hotel. The rooms were dirty, the shower rooms cramped and in need of renovation. Value for money was poor and no mention made of breakfast being an additional cost. The restaurant was a blend of Fawlty Towers and a Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmare with two or three menus running simultaneously, small portions and one well qualified waiter complemented by another who had us in fits of laughter over his totally comical and inept performance. The hotel setting is good being within its own large grounds but the surroundings are more the industrial area on the south side of Girona rather than residential and fortunately the city has few flights as the noise indicated that the airport was close by. Overall, distinctly disappointing and unless there is little alternative choice locally, not a hotel which I could recommend until Husa do the decent thing and invest in a total refurbishment.

Lovely friendly staff. Rooms in need of updating, double bed was small and not very comfortable. Didn't have breakfast but did have an evening meal which was excellent. Pool was nice too. Easy to bus to airport or Girona centre.

We stayed in Husa Fornell's Park as an intermediate stop on our way to the Pyrennees. The hotel was a very nice looking building, with friendly staff, who despite our late arrival (1am) welcomed us and showed us our room. The twin room we were given was spatious, looked like the photographs on the website, and had a nice view. However, a minute after we had entered the room, we received a call from the receptionist saying that he was giving us another room with a big double bed. The second room was tiny, with a poor view and a bathroom in bad condition (amongst other things the shower door was broken and water spilled everywhere). The receptionist explained the following day that we were given this room because we were only staying one night, and had we stayed there longer we would have been given a batter room. For 52 euros per night in a hotel virtually in the middle of nowhere, we felt that this was poor form.

I went for an overnight stay at the hotel. The hotel is quite near the Airport of Girona and buses (cheap price) pass very close to the hotel and hence quite convenient. I would recommend the hotel to other travellers.

Very beautiful, espesially in summer. Very exlusive restaurant, little park and a swimming pool. The only problem is the way describtion: Nll 711 km. is not right, the right street is Nlla 711km.!

It was just what we needed for our early flight home, a nice relaxing hour by the pool and the best meal we had in our short stay. Hop out of bed, coffee provided, cross road, get on bus to airport. Easy and very reasonable.

The hotel is very beautiful, actually better than a 4-star one we had befor. An exclusive restaurant, beautiful little park and swimming pool. But it's very difficult to find. I wish it would be better explained.

when we arrived in Girona at the train station we had a little trouble finding the hotel as we hadn't realised it was situated outside of Girona but we got a taxi for approx 10 euros. when we arrived at the hotel the man on reception was really helpful and told us about the bus which runs every hour outside the hotel and only cost 1 euro 30 per trip and runs from 4 am to midnight this was also fantastic as we caught the 1st bus at 4am to Girona airport for again only 1 euro 30. The hotel rooms were also very good we were a party of 8 and had booked 4 twins but when we arrived we were able to change our rooms to 2 twins 1 single and a family room all for the price quoted on the internet when we booked also the shower was lovely and hot at an early hour in the morning so it was a very good experience overall i would definitely use this hotel again and would recommend it for it's easy access to the airport.

USA, Jan 2008
The hotel was great, room was spacious enough and had many amenities (cable, free internet PC, complimentary toiletries). The person at the reception effectively answered our questions about the area, transportation and pointed us in the right direction to continue our trip. The airport bus stop is a short 5 minute walk over a small hill to the hotel, this same bus continues to Girona or back to the airport across the street. The restaurant/bar closes around 11pm, there is noth a close place to eat/drink after that time. The smell from smoking rooms was very noticeable inside our non-smoking section.

This hotel was overpriced. It is more like a hostel than a hotel. The only information that the hotel has about getting to Barcelona is that you need to go to Girona's station but from there you are on your own. I did appreciate the wireless service in the TV room - I was able to look up how to get to Barcelona.

Perfect accomodation if you are travelling by car. Easy to get to Girona and not so far from the nice beaches of the Costa Brava. High level restaurant which offers fixed price dinner very convenient considering the quality of food and service. I'd certainly come back again.

I spent only one night there. Despite my arrival at 1 a.m. at night I was friendly welcome at the reception (speaking 4 languages). The hotel was very clean, the room well furtinured, nevertheless enough space. Air conditioning was running silently. The breakfast (buffet) offered in addition to international standard some local specialities, and was always filled up and nicely arranged. The hotel has a garden area around it, but a busy street is not far. To the (city) bus station it's less than 100 m. From Girona airport the taxi costed 20 euro (after midnight). I would book the hotel again.

Convenient for airport. Excellent food, although waiters were offhand, bordering on insolent. This was in sharp contrast to the warm welcome from the guy on reception. Overal it was good value for money. They really do need to sort out a better map and directions from the airport. Girona is a great city to visit

We only used the Husa Fornells as a stop over after a late arrival into Girona airport. The Hotel was easy to locate and only 15 minutes by car from Girona airport. The service we received from the reception through to the restaurant staff was all that you could ask for and the whilst small and a little retro, the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms was of a high standard. We left for Barcelona early the next morning and unfortunately didn't see any of the surrounding sights but as a base for a stop over from the airport you can't go wrong with this place. We would definitely be back to the Husa Fornells should we be in a similar situation. PS the Hotel is more attrictive and quaint than the photos on the Venere website make it look, all in all a lovely Spanish experience.

USA, Aug 2006
It is a nice hotel located on a small hill surrounded by lots of tree. The building is well decorated and also the rooms. It is close to the Girona airport, only about 15 mins driving. I took a taxi. It cost me 19 euros, so not very bad. The old gentleman who waited at the reception because of my late arrival was really nice. But the next morning, the staff member acted snobbish because I did not take breakfast with them.

Description said that pets were welcome, but there was no indication of a daily charge for pets. The booklet on Girona provided by the hotel needs a new translation into English. The current translation was obviously done by someone with a poor understanding of English.

Quietness: So bad!It was like the walls were made of paper.Sound from barking dog/dogs,lovemaking couples,showers/bathrooms,staff in the morning before 08.00. Public areas: Near the reception a kind of "livingroom" with an empty (!) fireplace,a computer with a mini-screen and bad furniture. Not fresh ! Staff (reception): I didn´t feel like a guest. The staff didn´t seemed interested in foreign people. Breakfast: My god! 9 euro - is it possible? When you in Girona city can eat a "3-dishes" for the same price...At a fine restaurant! Communications: Bus from hotel to Girona= ok ! Bus from Girona to hotel= not possible after 21.00.

The hotel was clean and well situated. However, we were disappointed that the coffee shop mentioned in the details was not open. The restaraunt was quite expensive for meals as was the breakfast. Could not fault room service or cleanliness and welcoming. Very few people ate in the restaurant; would it not be better to offer more reasonable meals.

A good deal for the price. Definitely a family hotel. We enjoyed our stay. Our only discomfort was in the restaurant, because the waiter didn't want to attend us because we only wanted dessert, it seems that you can only use the restaurant if you are going to have a three couse meal. Besides that everything was good.

;-) 1) Nice hotel, comfortable to stay in transit from France to Spain; 2) The descriptions in the web pages are sincere :-( 1) It's not very near to the pretty city of Girona (you definitely need a car to go there) 2) The hotel is very near a forest, but also near to a commercial and industrial suburb 3) The prices do not include the VAT (+7%); it's sligthly expensive for a 3-star class hotel!

Reception staff very welcoming. It was a dissappointing that we had to go into the restaurant to order drinks as there was no bar facility. The head waiter was not very pleased to hve to do just a drink order when he had a fully booked restaurant. However he did quickly produce the drinks and was polite.

A mistake was made as when we came to pay the bill we were chargen extra for breakfast. On our original quote we were told it was inclusive. The Manager was very helpful and apologetic and deducted the ammount. However, this happened previously at Hotel Lauria in Tarragona and we were told we could not have breakfast and would have to pay extra for it. Also at our Hotel in Girona we had to pay extra when we thought breakfast was inclusive. Please get back to me regarding this. The hotel Fornells Park was very clean, modern and we would stay here again!

Our stay at this hotel was generally pleasant, spoiled only by lack of heating on days when outside temperature dropped very low, and it was wet outside. When heating eventually came on, only one third of small radiator produced any heat. Staff were helpful and welcoming, waiters in dining room very professional, food of high quality. Before going we were unaware of infrequency of public transport into town of Girona (every two hours). Nowhere to walk from hotel (except limited residential area), sited by side of major dual-carriageway road system. No bar open (off season). This hotel is fine for an overnight stay en route, it is 3kms from the centre of Gerona and it can be difficult getting a taxi from the city to the hotel at the end of the evening.
