The public areas are well kept, but the rooms are a relic of past times in Hungary. To get a true pre-1989 experience, these rooms fit the bill. However, the location with an indoor path to the Castle Baths (the best spa/swimming area in Europe, possibly) and proximity to Gyula Castle makes me less dubious. But the rooms are in serious need of a fresh coat of paint, a new colour scheme and ebtter bathrooms.

The hotel as a direct acces to the marvelous bath (but we had to pay the entry)but the style of the hotel and the restaurant seems to be as it was before 1990 ....

We didn't like that the tablecloths in the dining room were dirty on every day. The towels were not changed. It is usual that towels are changed every day.

We had a room very hot and asked for another even if more expensive but they did'not accept to change our reservation with you temperature outside 24° in the room 30°

The hotel consists of two buildings. The western rooms of the hotel offer an amazing view over the Castle and the lake. Building A has double-bed comfort rooms with balcony. Building D has double-bed and triple-bed standard rooms together with spacious, air-conditioned superior rooms.Hunguest Hotel Erkel also provides 5 air-conditioned rooms for disabled guests. All rooms are equipped with TV sets, refrigerators and telephones. The superior rooms – in addition to the amenities of the standard rooms – feature safe deposit boxes and DVD players.
