A very nice hotel in a good location close to the lake and a short stroll to the old city, or a 4 stop tram ride. Nice rooms although those at the front can be noisy due to trams - very quiet at the rear. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. As for all of Switzerland quite expensive. Overall a good place to stay.

The room was wide, very clean, and new. Surrounding area is nice (5 mins walking to the lake Zurich), although it was a bit long walking to the city centre. Morning meal was also good- with boiled egg (still warm). We could sleep very well as there was no noise. I would stay at this hotel again if I had next chance to visit this city!

The room was very nice and spacious and the bathroom well appointed. There was also a large balcony around our corner room. Everything was clean except under the bed where some garbage remained.

Overall, we had good experience staying at this hotel. The location was good. The only issue was that the room was warm but no AC. We opened the window but since our room was facing the street, there was a lot of tram noise throughout the night.

My wife and I have stayed at the Hotel Seefeld several times. The last time, however,in July 2008, we were less the totally pleased. We were given a room on the top floor [5th floor] during a warm period of time in Zurich [28 degrees celsius] and the room was insufferably hot. The air conditioning could not keep up with the heat and it was actually cooler with the windows open. In complaining to the management, they said it was a generic problem with the building design. I would stay there again, because the location is convenient, but I would request a room on a lower floor as a condition of staying there.

Basically this is a decent, well-situated, clean Swiss hotel, appropriate for travelers or businessmen. My less-than-excellent ratings are associated with two issues: the directions on the Venere web site, and mosquitos in the room. The directioins I printed out were frustratingly useless, and added an hour of late afternoon thick traffic confusion to our arrival, delaying and fatiguing us such that we didn't visit the neighborhood as planned. It was a hot day and we were told by reception that there was no air conditioning, to sleep with the windows open. The mosquitos arrived and we called the night reception for mosquito netting or repellant and were delivered a fan. Upon checkout we were indifferently reprimanded for complaining about mosquitos: "We're near the water. Of course there are mosquitos." And "Why did you sleep with your windows opened? There is an air circulation system that keeps the rooms cooler than outside, even in summer." Unfortunately we had not been informed of this feature upon check-in, and spent a very unpleasant night. Recommendations: Venere, please get your web site act together. Hotel Sorell, please train your reception staff in uniform information, and send your morning people to politeness school. Were I manager, I would have offered a discount to the room rate upon check-out to encourage a return visit.

Great breakfast but very smokey. We had problems with excessive heat in the room, but other guests had complained that they were cold. When I brought this to the attention of the staff, they checked and found that our room was 26C which they promptly corrected. We couldn't open the windows to our room because of the traffic noice (street cars). Location is in an interesting area and overall, we were pleased with our choice. The rooms were small but well arranged. The hotel provided WiFi at an additional cost, but there was a computer available in the lobby free of charge. Finally, they have a small but reasonably equipped gym.

Such a great hotel. I was very impressed. The location was great, the staff were so accomodating, and the room was perfect. The only thing I would change is possibly lowering the price for a single room. It was a very nice hotel, and it IS in Zurich (not always the cheapest), but my single room was 180CHF. However, it was perfect. I would most certainly stay there again.
