This was our first trip to Switzerland, and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay than in Zurich due to its central location and accessibility to other cities. Hotel Limmathof was a great choice for us due to its location and price ($200 USD/night). Our room was on the 4th floor on the side, but we could still hear the police/ambulance sirens throughout the night since we slept with the windows open. It seemed like police cars always drove with their sirens on, we couldn't figure it out. The central train station is a 3-5 min walk, Sihlquai bus station is a 5-7 min walk, and shops & restaurants begin right next door to the hotel. There is also free Wi-fi at the Starbucks next door. The hotel room was big enough for 2, with a desk, queen size bed, wardrobe and bathroom. I was impressed by the updated bathroom with a full sized tub. We received fresh towels and toiletries everyday. We chose not to have the hotel breakfast, and instead, went to the "Coop" supermarket (2 min walk) for breakfast and sometimes lunch. Switzerland is very expensive but the Coop supermarket helped us save money and provided great foods & variety (hot & cold). I would recommend Hotel Limmathof to anyone who is trying to stick to a budget and wants to be centrally located.

Surprisingly quiet room. Located immediately at the Central, 100m from the main railwaystation, boardering to the lovely old town. Very nice.

Required for an overnight stop between trains. Close to station so ideal. The breakfast was extra and not good value as indicated by the few number of people who frequented the breakfast area - we were there on our own.

Really no problems with this hotel. It's close to the main train station in Zurich. It was clean and secure and had everything that I needed. My favorite was the soap packets labeled "Neutral Soap."

The rooms could do with a decent fan especially for the summer. There was a fan in nthe room but it was so small as to be useless.

Good location, on a street with a lot of bars, restaurants and shops, and right in front of a tram stop (if you're coming from the aeroport, you can take Tram Nº 10 and get off across the street from the hotel). Double rooms are nicer than single rooms, and have (very small) bathtubs. Staff was really nice and helpful. Breakfast was OK. Wifi spot on the common area. TV with some American chanels and BBC radio. Overall, a pleasant place at a reasonable price. I'd stay there again.

A rather small hotel just a walk away from the central train station, located at the old town quarter with clean rooms and reasonable prices (compared to Zurich). If you have time try a walk through the old town along cafe, bars and restaurants toward the lake. I tried the hotel now for the third time and always for a business trip.

A little worn and in need of an update with a rather dirty hall carpet. How ever the beds and bathroom were clean. Location is excellent as not more that five minute walk from main train station (can see hotel from the station) and is located in the old town in the pedestrian area near the tourist sights and restaurants.

This hotel has a big problem as you must climb 11 plus steps with bags just to get to the reception area. You then need to climb more steps to get to the elevator to get to the room. We were disappointed about the room not providing a hair dryer. Hotel is Way over priced at 178 swiss francs per night. For what you get so we would never stay here again. It has a great location for Zurich but the place is tired and need rennovation. we will stay in Lucerne from now on..better hotel pricing!

So glad to be that close to Banhoff and best price I found except for airport or far away. Quiet rooms on interior court, up back stairs = plain but fine. Fan helped in heatwave. Good bathroom. Breakfast room has view.

The location is very good: very close to the railway station (10 min by walking), at the river and near to the lake of Zurich. The quality/price relation compared to other alternatives in Zurich is good. For using wireless internet you have to use a room which could be quiet crowded and loud. Breakfast is very simple but ok.

You get what it says on the tin. If you are unspoilt and what a decent enough room, well located at a fair price you will be happy to stay at this hotel.

The male person in the breakfast room was extremely rude...we had been informed that breakfast was available from 6.15AM..as we had to catch a train at 7AM & drag luggage to the station, we needed to eat ASAP so we arrived in the restaurant for 6.10AM...the waiter or person getting food ready gave no response to our greeting, and when at 6.20AM we asked if we could have coffee he then started commenting at how we were early and he was busy.etc etc.(but he did go & make it)..we had a quick bite of what was available as it was not all prepared and left feeling very uncomfortable..there was no response to our thanks & cheerio's etc..

Hotel is in a very central position a few minutes walk far from main railway station. Surroundings are ok, with some of town's monuments reachable by foot. Room was not very big (but I never care of this). However it was clean. Hotel staff was very kind and gave useful information. I would surely return to Limmathof hotel.

I first would like to thank to the room keeping and reception people, who kept my clothes I left in the room even after checking out. The location is ideal to access any place in Zurich and other cities in Switzerland. Price is on average in Swiss standard.

The bathroom was new and clean except for the mold in the shower.....yuk. The floor and furnishings in the rest of the room felt old and dirty with many burn marks in many places. There was no hair dryer so we had to get one from the front desk - you could only plug it into the same connection as the TV and there was no mirror near the TV. There were no facial tissues or wash cloth or safe in the room. The room was very warm and stuffy, when you open the windows you get a great breeze but also all the very load busy street noise all night long. However the room was very quiet when the windows are closed. The common areas were nice and clean as well as both restaurants. The breakfast was very minimal - yogurt, cereal, bread, coffee, juice. Everyone working in the hotel was very friendly and courteous. The location was 5 minute walk from the main train station and fantastic for sight-seeing. For the price we paid for this hotel, I just expected a lot more. I've stayed in many hotels in Switzerland for less price and got more quality. However, never in Zurich before. I guess Zurich is just very expensive and you pay a premium to stay in old town. I would stay in this hotel again but only for a night to make connecting flights to the US.

Apparently no non-smoking rooms available, superb location close to the railway station and the old town. We used the backdoor to transport a snowboard bag and a baby carriage to the elevator. Friendly staff. Breakfast was rather modest. All in all outstanding value for money.

We chose the Limmathof based on price and proximity to the main train station. We arrived in Zurich by train and left the next day by air. Our one-night stay at this hotel was satisfactory and met our needs. The room was clean although the furniture was worn nearly beyond its useful life. The included breakfast was adequate but quite limited. There are many choices for restaurants and pubs nearby. We would stay here again in similar circumstances but would not stay here for an extended stay of several days.
