Hotel Krone Unterstrass - Zurich

Dire hôtel which could be best described as functional. The hotel was a lot further from the main train station than was apparent from the hotel maps. Its a good 15-20min walk at a good pace uphill. I was greeted by a surly receptionist, given keys and told my room was on the second floor. I requested an iron to freshen up my shirt as I had a meeting to attend. 20 mins later I gave up and steamed the shirt in the bathroom. Four hours later i returned to find the iron and board in my room. This is an overpriced, functional, unfriendly hotel. I would look elsewhere in future.

Nice hotel in near by the center of Zürich; next time I'm in Zürich I will choose this hotel again.

Hotel was lovely and staff very helpful. We arrived at midnight and departed at 6 AM and had no trouble with check-in or arranging for a taxi in the morning. Our room was large, comfortable, and spotless. Bathroom was even nicer. I can't say whether the hotel would be good for families with children since I didn't get to see all of the facilities, but the public rooms are very nice, and I think the hotel is generally well suited to all types of travellers.

I was in room 404. it was ok. the hotel restaurant looks warm and accurately serviced but it have prices a bit higher than normal, i did not try to eat there.

This is my second time staying at the Krone Unterstrasse. Once again it met all our expectations. Clean and helpful staff. We will be staying at the Krone on our next trip to Zurich.

The rroms were small but fully equipped. the staff was extreemly freindly but at 10 i started reciving calls for the checkout. we expect a four star hotel to be with health club, and swimming pool ecpecially in the heart of hospitality business but couldnt find any thign like this.

The room was immaculate. I would definitely stay there again. Being from New York City, as far as the size of the room is concerned, the room was large considering it is within the city.

The hotel was pretty much as I expected. The location is good, close to Zurich City center.

Excellent property on a quiet street right on the tram line just 3 tram stops from central station. Very easy access to city center, no need to book closer to HB. Didn't try the breakfast/restaurant but the setting is quite attractive. Very clean room. The staff was very helpful and polite, speaks English and sells tram tickets. This place is a gem for Zurich visitors.

It's difficult to rate the Krone Unterstrass for the reason that it was the most expensive hotel I've stayed throughout several trips I've made to Europe (about CHF 200). The room was clean, spacious, modern, and give me no reason for any complaints, except for the fact that I've stayed in comparable hotels before for about half the price (and half the stars). The location is ok, but not great. It's about a 30 minute walk to the center of town and you can take a trolley right in front of the hotel if you prefer (we like walking, so we decided against the trolley). This was my first time in Zurich (and anywhere in Switzerland for that matter) so maybe it's not so much the hotel that's so expensive, but the city itself. If you're going to Zurich, and are willing to pay the price of the hotel, expect a comfortable, well-kept room, with no frills. This is a 4-star hotel, but it feels more like a 3-star place.

Excellent hotel, very impressive. It was a bit of a walk down to the city center. My only complaint is that there was no breakfast included in the price. I would definately stay there again.

Comfortable modern hotel located close to the historical center (4 tram stops or 20-min. walk to the train station). In the bar there is even a real fire-place. The hotel has a parking lot which is good, but we learned that we are expected to pay for it only at check-out which a bit disappointed us although the parking rate (CHF 12/day) as such is not high for Zurich. With the exception of that, the staff is quite attentive and friendly, We had a room facing the yard, but even there we could hear some faint tram rail noise. Supposedly in street-facing rooms this must be the problem.

We had three separate stays at the Krone during the last three weeks and all very very nice. The prices this year in Switzerland are eye popping other than that all was very satisfactory.

This is a convenient place to stay, just a few tram stops out of the bahnhoff about $8CHF for a full day in zone 10 which covers the old town. They have a tram for $25 CHF to the airport. Be prepared, Zurich is a very expensive city to visit. This hotel is a good value FOR ZURICH.

This hotel is right next to to a tram stop which makes it quite convenient, but the trams are expensive and if you make frequent trips in and out of the Hauptbahnhof or Altstadt then a closer hotel, where you can walk, would be a better idea.

VERY NICE SURROUNDING AND EMPLOYEES ARE KIND. Suggest this hotel who look for calm and clean room for single journey. price is a bit expensive though..

This hotel has an excellent, quiet location, right next to a tram stop. If you prefer, walking to the city center is about 10 minutes. Hotel staff were pleasant and the facilities were excellent value for a weekend in Zurich. I will definitely stay again!

Hotel was undergoing renovation at the time of stay hence elevator was not available. We have been offered a 25 CHF voucher as a thank you for understanding gift. Nice gesture! The overall experience was extremely good, there is nothing we can complain about. At 220 CHF for a double, the hotel was an excellent place to stay. We'll defintely stay again when in the area.

Location of hotel is quite convenient Only two tram stops from Central Rail Station and two more to the centre of Zurich . Reception Desk staff not very friendly and rather aloof. Rooms were not ready at 2 pm as promised in e-mail contract. The 4 stars rating is execessively generous by European or NA standards . We recommend that the current rating be revised.

Have been to Zurich many times and stayed in many hotels. Hotel Krone worked out the best for us this time because our friends live very close by and the tram system is excellent. Would stay in this hotel again

As a family we enjoyed two conecting rooms which were very clean and spacious. Perfect accessability to the city with trmas running every few minutes. Good quality for your money.

I booked a double room not two single beds join togather. It is 4 star hotel and they are changing their bed sheet every 2nd day. Is it a value for money. housekeeping is horrible tiles are dirty in the was room and house keeping staff is not giving proper attention when they clean the room. I found a glass in which I got ice last night after cleaning. Wolrd says hotel management/hospitality starts from Switzerland but i found different. It's very good if I spend this money somewhere elase.

Excellent rooms in a hotell with a small reception. Minor sitting areas.

Best breakfast during our 3 weeks stay in Europe. In addition to usual items, eggs, salami and cheese, I enjoyed the smoked fish every morning. The room was Clean and spacious, and bright with big windows. The restaurant "differente" was fair enough. I love to come back.

Excellent accomodation in relation to price. Communication, with trams outside the entrance, gives excellent accessibility to the city centre

Location is great. Transit is outside the door and VERY convient. No internet provided and breakfasts are not included with price. We up graded our room for a city view and larger room but paid the price for it. Switzerland is VERY expensive. Very nice bar and lounge off the lovely restaurant.

This property is owned by Best Western. The room was excellent as was the rest of the facility. The tram stops right in front of the property and is a 5 min ride to the train station. It is a quiet area. The restaurant was excellent. Very good value.

Windows of a lot of rooms are over a busy street and street noise can be heard even with windows closed. The bus line is right outside the door and convenient to other parts of the city. Transportation to the airport was good. Breakfast was extra, but was good. Price was very high for the quality.

Room was very clean, though small. Employees were very helpful. Breakfast was good. The bed was terrible! As hard as granite! Otherwise all was okay, but when you travel, the most important thing is the comfort of the bed.

A good hotel, maybe not quite 4 star, but neither are its prices. Very convenient to public transport with tram stop 11 and 14 outside the door (5 minutes downtown or to station). There are several different websites for this hotel on the net, and the venere.com one does not have the best info -- hopeless maps and a crazy photo looking apparently from the roof to cars below.
