Central location, adapted to tourists more than business travellers. Rooms are clean, but small and quite basic. Friendly staff.

Well, Zurich is quite expensive, and considering that Basilea is a good option - i tend to stay there every time i visit the city. It is very close to the train station, in the center of the old town, still in a quiet area. I can reach most things very quickly even just by walking. The rooms are clean (which is very important to me), however really tiny. The breakfast is simple, but offers a good selection of choices. The staff is kind and helpful. The isolation between the rooms could be better, but i have seen worse.

Good location in old city and just five minutes walk from the central station. We took the triple room, that was quite large. Breakfast included in the price was very good. The hotel rooms has wireless internet also in the rooms, but need to pay for it. The room did not have air-conditioning. I could open the window, but could not get proper rest during the night due to the noise from bars outside. You can find a cheaper option in the same area, but the overall quality compensated.

The hotel rooms do not have air-conditioning. It was hot and stuffy when we stayed during summer. Only 1 window pane can be opened for 2 inches but it is not enough to air the roon. Because of the opened window, we could not get proper rest during the night due to the noise from the bars/pubs below. Chimes from the nearby Clock Tower are also heard on every 15min/half-hourly/hourly intervals. The hotel location is quiet but from 9pm, from my hotel room I could see streetwalkers plying their trade. They did not clean our room on the 3rd day.. only fresh towels are given upon request. The room was dirty and I could not wait to check-out from the hotel. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very clean, the personnel very eager to solve problems, very good location but very small rooms and the walls seem to be from paper. We asked for a bigger room and they offered to us a 3-bed room at once, so we could have a little more space.. I am not referring to the price because zurich is a very expensive town

I only got a non-smoking room and no parking space, because you can not choose online. Overall clean, simple and a bit small, everything in walking distance, therefore a good place to stay for sightseeing

The Hotel Basilea is the perfect hotel for a short stay. My room (a single room) was very clean and stocked with the necessary amenities (shampoo, soap, lotion, shower cap, etc). My room was quite small, but enough of what I needed. If you enjoy space, this may not be the hotel for you. The bathroom was clean, with a standing shower only. The bed was much more comfortable than it looked, the bedding was warm, good for winter when I was traveling, and I slept very well (the room was very quiet as it was towards the back of the hotel). Warning, for those of you who like to travel with loads of stuff, be sure to ask for a room with a closet. Given I was on holiday for 4 days, I didn’t have many things with me, so lack of a closet wasn’t a problem. There is some space to hang clothes and stack some sweaters. The breakfast room was decent, nothing to write home about. The hotel has wireless Internet, but the signal in my hotel room was weak; so you may end up logging on to the Internet in the lobby. The location of the hotel is absolutely fantastic. It’s close walk to the train station, close to the river Limat, the main shopping street, the Old Town, cute bars and restaurants, and a Starbucks for those of you who need their coffee fix!

Great location in a quiet street in the old town, an easy walk from the railway station. Breakfast included in room price (food OK, but coffee awful). Staff extremely helpful, and I was allowed to check in several hours early. Room looked very clean, but there was a slight smell of urine in the bathroom (as I was only staying one night I didn't complain, but I'm sure if I had I would have been moved to another room). I would definitely stay at the hotel again.

A single room is very small, even for European hotels. A double looks much more comfortable, from what I could see walking by as the maids cleaned, but the price was substantially higher for a double. I felt somewhat claustrophic in the room so opened the window to let in air, which works well except that the neighborhood nearby has a lot of bars and one cannot sleep with the window open, even on a weeknight. So my strategy was to leave the window open all day and shut it just as I went to sleep. The continental breakfast room is the most spacious room in the hotel and the service there prompt and pleasant, so that made up for a fair amount. Also, the hotel is in a very convenient location - it is a short walk to the main train terminal and an even shorter walk to a tram station that serves about five tram lines. One can also walk fairly easily to the main tourist sites in Zurich. A friend stayed at the Best Western property north of town (across from Milchbuck tram station) and that seemed much nicer - rooms not as small, much quieter neighborhood, and spacious lobby. It may not be in the thick of the tourist area, but that is probably a plus unless you plan to party all night (the trams stop running a little after midnight)

Pro: L'Hotel e pulito, luminoso e funzionale. Il rapporto prezzo/qualità è buono. Contro: L'Hotel si trova nel quartiere più animato della città. Nel weekend il rumore nelle strade è inevitabile.

Swiss hotels are expensive anyway, and the 20 CHF added as tax to the price quoted (no mention of tax to be added) on the website at the time of booking was an unwelcome surprise. The single room was very small, but the bed was very comfy, bathroom very clean, with a power shower. My main gripe is that the alarm call I set on the phone never went off, so I overslept by an hour and had to grab breakfast in a bag on the way out. Alarms on the TV have never let me down, but only the phone option was available at Basilea.
