Hotel Alexander Guesthouse - Zurich

We needed a spot in Zurich near the station to stay for a night before heading on to another destination. The Guesthouse Alexander was just right. The rooms were tiny but clean and quiet, and the location within easy walking distance of the station and the restaurants of the old city couldn't be beat. The room had great WiFi. Make sure that you register at the main hotel (half block away) on your way to the room. We didn't, but there was a buzzer at the guesthouse that was answered by the hotel clerk. She sent someone to open up our room so we could deposit our bags, and then we went to the hotel to register. If you like continental style breakfasts, the breakfast at the hotel is well worth the price. The next time we're in Zurich we'll be staying here again.

We absolutely loved the Hotel Alexander Guesthouse! The reviews that were posted prior to our trip aided us in knowing that the checkin takes place in the lobby of the Hotel Alexander itself. The staff was wonderful and assisted us in the checkin process. A staff member personally walked us to the front door of the guesthouse (located behind the actual hotel)and showed us how to use the electronic key. The location is perfect for on foot exploration of Zurich's Old City. The nearby restaurants were fabulous! The photos of the facility were spot on and were probably taken from the window of our assigned room. The shower was extremely comfortable - great hot water and great pressure! All of our questions were met with smiling staff members and assistance offered readily. We heartily recommend The Hotel Alexander Guesthouse to anyone who wants comfort, value, and proximity.

Rooms are very small. Front side is loud with street noise.

It's small and cheap but very nice. It's not a 5 star hotel and they don't have many of the preks (robes, tooth brush,shower cap etc...) but what it lacks it more than makes up for in location and amazingly helpful and prompt staff.

This place was a great location, close to everything. Staff were really helpful, and a porter helped get our bags from the main hotel to the Guesthouse (not far though). The one thing that troubled me was the noise travelling easily from one room to the other. We had some loud neighbours talking and yelling through the night which kept us awake a lot. Price wise, Switzerland is ridiculously expensive which ever option you take, and for our budget this was a good relationship between price and quality compared to some of the other options available to us. Internet was free with a code, although it was fairly slow, but did the job.

Free upgrade from the guesthouse to main hotel. Very nice room in a very nice location.

Good in the heart of city near to main train station with all facilities of everyones interst near by. rooms r good, spacious and clean. food is pretty expensive in hotel and nearby as well.

The room was simple, very clean and bright. Knowing how the area becomes noisy in the evening, we were pleased to have a room facing the opposite way. Bathroom clean and large enough. For people like us who walk everywhere, the location is simply perfect. A stone throw to the Central Station. Breakfast, however, needs improvements. Breads and croissaants could be crispier and fresher.

We (2 couples) were upgraded from the "Guesthouse" to the Alexander Hotel. Our rooms were very nice, stylish, good beds with comforter, great bath/shower, sound proof windows (kept most of the street noise out. The hotel is in the midst of the entertainment are with many bars and restaurants. Helpful staff got us checked in quickly and helped us with shuttle bus transport to the airport the next morning. Overall a wonderful stay!!
