The hotel is very nice but hard to find at night if you are unfamiliar with the area. There are several ways to exit the station and there is no Info booth in the station. Other than that, it is a great hotel and a great value for the money. I will definitely stay there again.

Close to the station but dull area. Cleaning staff woke us at 8am on Sunday morning talking loudly from their duty room, this kept up most of the morning. They must think the rooms are soundproof. There is a good restaurant at the top of the street just at the tram stop which had really tasty food.

Good hotel with friendly staff and adequate facilities. Located near the central station with the city center on the other side. A minus is the proximity of a sex shop.

I was very happy with my stay. An excellent value by Swiss standards and the room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The woman working at the front desk was very helpful and very pleasant. The free WIFI worked very well and the breakfast buffet included in the room price was an unexpected treat (hot and cold food). The location is perfect, just a minute or two from the train station and a pleasant and safe area, very easy to find your way back to. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Zurich.

This was our second stay at this hotel and this time we were in a room overlooking a very busy street. It was very hot and no air conditioning so we needed the windows open and found the room very noisy to sleep in.

We arrived very late at night and were glad the hotel was so close to the station, but there was a rather dubious sex shop very near! The hotel was very efficient, and exactly as described. We would stay again.

The hotel is very well located relative to the train station. About 10 minutes walk to the old town. COOP grocery store is next to the train station. The hotel/room are very clean and well maintained. Breakfast is good, though lacking a choice of cheese which is common to other hotels in Switzerland. Free Wi-Fi worth mentioning as it's not common in Europe. The price is the only drawback in my opinion: we paid 190 Sfr for a double bed room, but hey, it's Zurich. Will probably stay there again, as proximity to the train station makes it very convenient for traveling.

The Hotel is good for business trip. The price ( more than 210USD/night) is a bit high. Competence of staff should be improved

Good location and a clean room however I stayed in early August when it was warm - there was no air conditioning hence trying to sleep with windows open was impossible because there was street noise - people hanging out - till early hours of the morning. A very nice and hearty breakfast the next morning helped a bit.

Very nice hotel and the room very clean and spacious. Also the staff are friendly and service oriented. Best advantage is location since this is near the main train station and near the areas of interest in Zurich.

Perfect location, clean room...If you like to travel around Zurich with train, this hotel is the one you are looking for as it is only a 1 minute walk to the main station and this was so important as we have a 1.5 year old baby. Clean but small rooms are suitable for the ones who never stays at room and just come to room to sleep. Pleasant trip with a great located hotel.

Location, location, location. Next to the main train station and major tram stop. Very short walk to the tourist area. The neigbourhood is just fine - in fact preferable to the other side due to quieter roads. Airport train to hotel took about 10 minutes max for 6 CHF. The main decor is sort of naff, and the tiny TV with a single English channel (CNN which is mind-numbing) could be improved, but I was there on business.

We only stayed one night, but Hotel Montana was typically spotless (in that Swiss way!). The breakfast was fantastic - plenty to choose from and all fresh and tasty. The area on that side of the train station is slightly dodgy, but walk for literally 5 minutes and you're fine. We took our 5 month old baby and they provided a clean cot and towels for him. Would recommend it as a 'safe bet'.

The location was perfect for tired travellers, minutes from the station and handy for the tram (as well as a sex shop and some over-friendly ladies, the other side of the coin). If you're with children take the tram to the zoo, a 15 minute ride and a really nice place - much more relaxed than London Zoo. Even our cool 10 year old girls loved it.

Good hotel located near the train station and thus near the center of Zurich. Fair service at a sensational rate. Rooms remarkably quiet!

Generally very good choice. The hotel gives what promises. Good location, close to the center, you can walk around and even down to the lake. Simple but clean on reliable price. Rooms are not very big, but clean and comfortable if you do not need special care. For extra fee you can have closed parking option underneath the hotel. We have spent there 3 days and enjoyed it indeed. One thing you have to take care: if you forget to put the "do not disturb" outside the door by the evening next morning the cleaning staff comes and enters to you... Otherwise employees and the service was really okay, polite and helpful. I guess the hotel is not recommended for family with children, but absolutely fine for single travellers, couples or even for business trips. I return, no doubt.

the hotel was great - very clean, nicely decorated and the room rate even included a full breakfast buffet in the morning. The only downside is how much the telephone charges were (35 SFR for just 7 phone calls!!!) and the room was a bit small. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel. The location is also ideal because it is only about 2 blocks from the main trainstation.

The hotel is great, except to the noise from some room nearby. I think the structure of the hotel is not soundproof, but thanks that tourists nomally goes to bed before midnight. Good location(5min walking from rail station but still quiet sinece on the quiet street)

Although the room was a little small for two people, the proximity to the train station was excellent and there are plenty of restaurants around the neighborhood. The airport shuttle was on time and well worth the price. I'd stay at The Montana again in the same circumstances (just one night, coming in via train and flying out the next morning). If I was going to be there longer, I might look for someplace with larger rooms.

I booked the Hotel Montana but couldn't check-in the hotel because i was told on arrival that the hotel has overbooked. The reception was very courteous and she arranged for me to stay at a partner hotel (Wahala Hotel) just a block away. Though i haven't been staying at Hotel Montana, i had breakfast and lunch there which was good, both the ambience and the food. Comparatively speaking, i think the ambience at Montana is better than Wahala, and i would think they should have charged a lower room rate (rather than same rate) at Wahala given the differentials between the quality (the hardware) of the hotels. The reception at Wahala was nice, and they were able to offer good advice on how to get to Interlaken. The room at Wahala Hotel is clean and comfortable but i haven't tried their restaurant as i only stayed there for one night. The location of both hotels is great as it is only 5 minutes walk from the Zurich train station and it's safe to walk around, day and night. It's easy to walk to the old town of Zurich where you'll see the major architecture, the monuments and the river. August is a good time to visit Zurich and it's a lovely city.

Once we found the place, it was great. There was a big sign with hotel Montana on it on a building that obviously was not the hotel, so make sure you note that the sign is pointing down the street before you think that the hotel is not there. Was one of the best breakfasts we had of several 3 star hotels we stayed in during our trip. Great shuttle to airport that was better than taking the train.

We enjoyed the breakfast very much. I would probably stay there if I ever visit Zurich again. I forgot to ask for 2 single beds instead of 1 double bed when making our reservations, so there were none available when we checked in. It would be helpful if the hotels had that option listed when making reservations.

The Montana is probably the best value for money available in central Zurich. The accommodations are perfectly adequate, and all the major attractions are well within walking distance. However, the north side of the railway station (where the Montana is located) is not nearly as desirable as the south side. While I was not at all concerned for my safety, getting to all the attractions (except the National Museum) involves walking through the station.

The hotel was very convenient in that it was only a short walk to the tram, the train station, and the Old City. The room was clean and sufficient for what I wanted. If I visit Zurich again, I would definitely stay at Montana.

Pricing on weekends is really good, working at 99 Francs per night but it rises sharply in week so I thought it was a bit expensive weekdays at 155 Francs. Buffet breakfasts offers lots of choice, rooms nice and comf0rtable and hotel just behind the train station so it only takes a couple of minutes walk to get onto the main streets and by old quarter. Staff friendly too.
