Hotel Middlethorpe Hall & Spa - York

877-662-6988Built in 1699, Middlethorpe Hall is an original William III country house. It has been fully restored and is now carefully decorated with antiques and fine pictures. The gardens and parkland have also been restored and include a white garden, a walled garden, a small lake and some beautiful trees.
Now part of the National Trust, all profits of the hotel are donated to the charity.This property has provided all content and is solely responsible for its accuracy.

Stayed with a friend for a girly break. The spa was basic, but had a lovely feel to it and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. I had a great massage by Holly. We were upgraded to the junior suite in the court yard - without the lounge it would have been a bit tight, but the lounge with its big squishy sofas was great. Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries were great, as were bathrobes and slippers. Breakfast was never ending, and very satisfying, although a shame you have to pay extra for the Yorkshire breakfast... it was worth it. The gardens even in winter are really pretty, and the house is beautiful. The ONLY draw back we had were some VERY noisy neighbours above us - creaking floor boards and loud music at 12.30am and again at 8.20am - even though I was wearing ear plugs. I called the night porter to ask him to put in a a word, half an hour later it did seem to quieten down, but oddly I got charged 65p for having called the porter.... Overall a lovely place for a chilled out break, and not too expensive.
