My sister and I stayed at the Brittania due to its proximity to the theatre i.e. next door. We truly could not believe what was included in the very small price paid for the room. we will recommend Brittania Hotels and Venere to our friemds in future.

Accommodation was adequate. The standard of food was appalling (dinner), average (breakfast).

Room was at front of hotel had my 10year old with me couldn't sleep due to noise and yes its noisy at the weekend but stayed before at the back and side and is quiet. Room had wallpaper peeling off and mould growing underneath. The room was made as a twin but they put a makeshift double divan in, no side table on one side, and headboards were for 2 single beds so didn't match up with the double. People in front of us when checking (about 5 people behind desk but only one dealing with check in/complaints) I was at the front of the desk but two customers with complaints got seen to before me, one customer had booked a double room but were complaining as the had been given a twin, I had booked a double and was going to give it up for the other people but was told mine was a twin also, got in the room and it was the makeshift double. Meals were nice in Jennys resturant, although there were too many staff running around and being told what to do every 2 seconds. Didn't have breakfast as last time it was all dried up and greasy. Wolverhampton is ok for night life and shopping in small doses, used to live there but couldn't wait to move!!

On the whole it's a good place to stay. City centre, university and stations are within a few minutes walking distance. But beware: Bathroom of room no. 222 was spacious and clean but not heatable and therefore cold. If your booking includes the continental breakfast don't bother to order the full English breakfast for an additional 10 pounds. Food quality and preparation don't justify the price. The sausages formed an insoluble compound with the plate and the provided forceps were too hot to handle.

Traffic noise early in the morning was high due to being next to the Bus and Rail Station. We were in a group of 4 couples, one of which asked to be moved due to the room being small and the noise from the pubs and clubs emptying at 2am. Overall our stay was good with a good atmosphere in the hotel public areas. We would stay again as overall it was good value, although I would request a room to the rear of the hotel.
