Hotel Reviews The Embassy Inn

It must be said that while I had initially booked for Embassy Inn, later on I was informed via email that my booking has been shifted to the sister hotel Windsor Inn. So the feedback here is for Windsor Inn and not for Embassy Inn. On my arrival at the Embassy Inn I was very rudely informed that I had no bookings and that they have never heard of Venere.com...and after much discussion they told me that I would have to be "accomodated" in Windsor Inn...so much for welcoming!!

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was excellent. The room was adequate but needed some repairs.

The room quality was poor. The biggest problem was that I could hear everything coming from nearby rooms including a fundamentalist sermon that lasted until midnight. Employees were veru helpful.

The Hotel was tiny and the room was very small. The shower was very very cramped and the hot water ran out daily. Cold showers in winter is not my idea of a good start. The pictures of the hotel look better on line than in real life. The location was great close to eatery's and nightlife.

No Internet service, though description says it's there. Strange demeanor of desk staff, too.

The room is very small, not for a family (although there are 2 double beds). The sink is inside the room (and not inside the toillette) and no room for laugage in the room. The breakfast very poor. No elevator, so it was difficult to go to the second floor with 5 suitcases (and the staff not so happy to assist you)

Room we were given was somehow low level : small, and noisy with air cond fan noise, bathroom just enough. Maybe due to low rate. BUT : very good people, ready to help for everything. Breakfast included was as much as you want, and very much what you want. Location is 15/20min walk to White House : you only walk through nice place to WH.

Good location. The hotel would need to be renewed (no elevator...) but was clean. Breakfast place very small indeed. Food quite good.

Nice neighborhood, very close to the white house (same street) and nice restaurants. Puplic transport are not so closed and no lift available: heavy luggage not recommended. Rooms are small but clean, breakfast is correct. Price remains fairly high but this may be due to the city habits...

Our stay at the Embassy Inn was very nice except for one very important item. We were led to believe that arrangements would be made for parking the car. That was not the case at all. I was given a print out with 3 parking garages in a 3 to 4 block area but found that they were either full or didn't serve the hotel. My constant search for a place to park the car dominated our whole stay. If the hotel doesn't accommodate car residents, that should be made perfectly clear on the internet advertizing. If we hadn't had the car to be concerned about, the hotel would have been very nice.

Very good location and price. The Dupont Circle area has lots of good restaurants in all price ranges. A 30 min walk to the White House. The breakfast was excellent; good variety and good quality. Our only complaints are: The beds in the double / double room were very hard and in our room there were no hooks for the towels. Also room 308 needs more storage space since it is for four people. Secure parking four blocks away at $15 per night. Otherwise good buy. Would stay there again.

It was a bit expensive for the quality of the hotel and the room (no real bathroom, just a shower and the WC, the washbasin was in the bedroom : your intimacy is quite limited. But all in all, it was the cheaper in the area so it was ok. About the surroundings : What we need to know in Washington is that even if you have the impression looking at the map that the hotel is close to the next subway station, you have to walk in reality 15 minutes at least given the width of the blocks. But we were quite close by feet to the Adams Morgan area which is quite nice to have a drink in the evening and to walk around daily.

Great location close to City Centre and main conference locations. Excellent public transport links. Staff really friendly. Ideal for both business and pleasure. No shortage of bars and places to eat nearby. Area is safe to walk about. Breakfast sets you up for the day.

Welcoming was really excellent and that's for me the most important. This hotel has also a "cachet" because it's located in an old house, and very nice area.

We didn't actually stay in the Embassy Inn but the Windsor Hotel, its sister property. We were rudely told at the Embassy Inn that we had been moved and that we needed to walk 2 and a half blocks to the Windsor (hauling our luggage- at 8 o'clock at night...)There was no apology, no offer to help us with our bags. While we were still there at the Embassy Inn, another guest was checking out in disgust which did not fill us with confidence. I will say in defense of the owners that they greeted us warmly at the Windsor and that our room was large and pleasant if a little shabby around the edges. The continental breakfast was good. The third day I leaned hard against the shower wall and it caved in! There was a giant gaping hole and a musty odor of rotting sheetrock. But the owners seemed unfazed and when we returned that evening it had been repaired. Despite that rather bizarre occurrence, I would still rate the hotel as a decent value as it is only a short walk from Dupont Circle with lots of great restaurants nearby in a quiet neighborhood and with a large, spacious room with free wireless and a frig.

My Girlfriend and I got a really small room in the basement. It was okay, but more like a big closet.
