I was very pleased with my stay at the Donovan House... beginning with the front desk staff who were always helpful and courteous, to the room (which had a great view), to the fact that it was convenient to the Metro and there were some excellent restaurants near by. And, the sushi at the hotel restaurant was outstanding. I was there on business, but would go back when I had a chance.

Drapes don't keep out street light in rooms on front of hotel. VERY bright at night. Interesting shower design, but so little water comes through that took endless amount of time to get shampoo out of hair. Clogged sink. No hot water twice during three-day stay. Great location, nice staff, but could be (much) better.

This was my first visit to Washington. When I booked I asked, if possible, a quiet room: I got one, with a good view too. Undisturbed sleep in a clean room, close to the White House. That was a pleasure. The bathroom was larger than what I found in hotels of a similar price. Staff better than the average. A smile and a friendly welcome should be considered as a matter of course, but they are not (at least in the US). Fortunately, at this hotel the staff looked (and really was) helpful and concerned. I would return to this hotel.
