Hotel Portos - Warsaw

Big hotel, far from the city center (15 min by bus, the bus stop is 2 min by foot), nice and big rooms. The elevator are without doors, in Italy they would be illegal for people transportation thus if you have children consider this aspect.

The rooms were nice. The massive concrete box-type exterior was a little offputting, however. The breakfast was fine, except for the instant coffee they served! It was a quick walk to a nice shopping centre and an easy bus ride to the old town. Convenient.

For the budget visitor to Warsaw, the Hotel Portos is ideal. Although it is a fair walk into central Warsaw there is easy access to public transport and if all you need is a decent clean room in which to sleep then the Portos is for you. The staff are helpful and the company really cares about your opinion of their Hotel. Do not expect too much but what you get is good value.

The Portos is no resort but a good place for the independent traveler. The bus stop to take you downtown and most everywhere else is right outside the door.

Très bon hotel: l'accueil est excellent, la chambre luxueuse et lumineuse, le petit déjeuner est tout à fait copieux avec un self à volonté. Nous sommes à 10 minutes en voiture du centre-ville ou du très beau parc Lazienki. Vraiment un très agréable souvenir.

Overall, nice hotel, very friendly staff, helpful and polite. The only thing that annoyed us was that the second floor was being reconstructed and the noise from drilling and hammering was there every day, from 9 to 5, so we had to have breakfast at the accompanying drilling. Hopefully, it was a temporary thing. I would stay there again when I am in Warsaw.

Well - it IS a hotel. The Portos is a big grey slab of USSR era concrete with some colored panels bolted onto the outside. And that is its finer points. English was hard to come by at times, the staff was not overtly rude, by neither were they engaging or overtly helpful. The rooms are ok, but if noise next door bothers you, consider yourself warned. When the guy next door started taking a shower I thought MY shower had come on. There is no CNN or BBC if that matters. I had dinner in the restaurant and...well, you'd be better off going to the gas station across the way for some chips. You think it would be difficult to feel ripped off when spending only a couple bucks, but these dumplings...ugh. The bus was close and easy to use. I rode it day and night and felt utterly safe. The breakfast was, I gathered, good by Polish standards, but may not appeal to those wanting to go native first thing in the morning. Oh the coffee was pretty bad. There is an internet connection for guests (in a closet) and you are charged 5z for an hour of use (an hour here means - every time you use it) If on a budget, this is not a bad choice - but neither is it a good choice. If I were to redo my choice I would get closer to the center of town and spend a little more.
