This is a lovely old fashioned hotel, in a lovely place with lovely facilities. Our room was spacious and warmly decorated. The breakfasts were very well done. However it was the wonderful people who made it welcoming, in particular Isabella the receptionist, who was fantastic with our two small children . There is a steep walk up hill to the main Piazza which was good for keeping fit. Follow the instructions to the hotel carefully, if you are driving. The car park is before the hotel on a one way street, so stop close to the hotel but don't pass it as you will have to go through the town to get back and it can be challenging at first in this mostly pedestrianised town. I would highly recommend this hotel and we will be back

A great hotel! The reception staff was excellent and very helpful. The room was very quite and nice and so was the bathroom. The parking facilities were very good and it was very easy to find the hotel and the garage. If we return to this part of Toscana, San Lino - Volterra is a natural place to stay on.

The hotel was everything we were expecting apart from the fact that a double bed consists of two singles pushed together. This seems to be a common trait in Italy as we discovered on our travels. The pool was cold but clean. Perfect for refreshing after sight seeing. The secluded courtyard was a sun trap from around 10am although only in one corner. The location was ideal for exploring the small town and the staff were exceptionally helpful. All in all a great place to stay.

Everything about San Lino was great, from the friendly and helpful reception staff to the wonderful large breakfast buffet. Location is excellent - really handy for exploring Volterra, yet in a quiet safe location. Swimming pool was a bit chilly for me though! Volterra is simply stunning and so was the bus journey up the mountain. Hotel is only 10 minutes walk from bus stop and it is downhill on the way there. Nice powerful shower in bedroom and good a/c. Great to have a lift in the building too.

Overall quality very good - hotel is in a quiet location in Volterra - staff extremely friendly and helpful - only disappointment was the size/quality of the bathroom

an excellent hotel very well situated inside the walls. all the staff were very well informed about the area and spoke very good english. we were given very good advice about travel and the ammenities in the region. they arranged an early breakfast just for us as we had to get to pisa for the flight home.

We were met by Isabella, very welcoming, great advice and very accomodating. She would be the main reason we would return to this hotel. The rooms were clean bright and spacious, the pool area very picturesque and the breakfast was wonderful. The only drawback was that our room overlooked the street and was noisy, but with windows and shutters closed and airconditioning running it was acceptable. The town of Volterra was the best of all that we visited around Tuscany. We stayed 4 nights. Highly recommended.

A very nice hotel in a great hill-top walled Tuscan city. A nice place to stay just inside the city walls. Parking provided. Very nice breakfast served. I would highly recommend and would stay here again in the future.

A perfect location at the quiet end of town on an atmospheric street minutes from the main piazza. The pool area is a nice oasis but the other public areas, though comfortable are little used. People tend to sleep here and head out into the beautiful old town.

Wow ! What a great hotel in a great setting. To be inside the city walls of Volterra was a huge advantage. Hotel was far and away the best hotel we had been to in Italy (and we had paid much more for others !) Massive clean room, friendly staff, superb breakfast. Volterra is a magic place to visit and San Lino a superb choice. P.S - just realise that driving into Volterra can be a harrowing experience - make sure you know which "Porto" to enter into.

The hotel in general is good, the location is very charming. We were in the San Lino beginning of February and it was very cold. According to my opinion this is no hotel for winter season as they do not heat enough. The breakfast room was so cold that we and other customers had to eat wearing a winter coat. This is definately not 4 stars like.

We liked this hotel for its Tuscan decor, location, better than usual breakfast (full buffet and soft boiled eggs, which we ordinarilyy didn't find at other buffets), swimming pool and friendly service. We would love to stay there again.

San Lino was a nice hotel in the center of a beautiful site. I would recommend it to everyone going vistiting the surroundings of Volterra, San Gimignano etc. It was one of the best hotels we had through our visit in Toscane.

Would not rate the hotel as four star. It is more of a three star. However, price probably reflects this.

Breakfast very poor for this 4 stars hotel. The room was quiet but there were sporting facilities and therefore it was a bit noisy till late in the evening. The bathroom was a bit small.

When we arrived we were the only guests. The room war cold, shower very small. Breakfast room small, dark and cold. Following day a schoolclass arrived with very loud TV noises till 12.00 oclock. Reception did not or did not want to understand our complaint in English. Direct telephone call to next room without effect. My husband´s shouting and banging the door finally stopped noise. Breakfast was not supplemented after kids left (only 1 of the croissants left) Staff made loud conversation among themselves and cleaned the bar and esspresso counter. We did not disturb them evidently. Only one girl at the reception (when we arrived) was nice and polite the other staff not at all. We shall never go back to this hotel. We told this the girl (it was the nice one)at the reception, when we left. The garage cost 11,00 Euro one night. Our car´s windshield was dirtied by dripping calcium, which was very difficult to remove.
