Hotel Palace valuable, convenient to downtown altogether beautiful, but needs maintenance especially in relation to services and needs more cleaning in the rooms and in relation to the tablecloths for breakfast

When i came to check in ar 11 as it was given in the info, the reception was nice and brought me to my room. i was shocked cause the room was not yet clean! I was tired after my travel and wanted to have some rest in a quiet so i had to spend there for 3 hours in a dirty room sitting on a chair cause the beds were open dirty with hair, same things in a toilet that i was disgusted to use after the previous people who left all the possible trash and hairs after them. when the girls came to clean they made everything in 5 min, so when i reentered the room i still saw some hairs ont he floor of the bathroom and i really had boubts if they changed the bed sheets and not only the cover.. Bfast was nice in a nice hall that really gives the impression of a rich appartment of 100 years ago..

We stay very well! Also the breakfast was very good. we think that the Pension Franz is a very nice place to spend the holiday. Only one problem: there's no discount for child or family

We were extremely happy with this hotel: very well located, cheap, and lovely. Above all, you feel like you are not one among so many tourists coming in and out an anonimous place, but a guest at an old viennese ladie's appartment. True, the lights are not always OK, and the breakfast room is a bit tiny, but that feeling of being "at home" is really great!

The atmosphere was cheap. Our room was in the breakfast room and we couldn't open our door properly when people were eating at the table in the morning. There were discolorations in the carpet, holes in the walls, mismatched tiles in the bathroom and a huge cobweb hanging from the ceiling. Overall it was a dump.

This Pension has been kept in the same pristine condition it was in when built in 1890, but time does take its toll. From the appearance of the furnishings and pictures I suspect this was at one time a bordello but converted at some time to a pension. Too many stairs for a family with young children and just too antiquated for us to come back. Vienna has such an excellent metro we would prefer staying a little outside the center and just taking the metro in a few stops.

Very nice and stylish atmosphere - feels like 19th century Vienna. The breakfast was great. Slightly difficult getting to the 2nd floor - very small elevator, but I guess it must be so in an old building like this. Location is great - walking distance to main attractions.

It was an experience of the old time apartment living. Something you can not feel in globally standard hotels. The rooms location and surroundings are very convenient for the first time Vienna visitors, 15 minutes walking from St.- Stephan, 2 minutes walking to metro! And personnel really demonstrated hospitality. Can recommend it to ones looking good old times experience.

Preisleistungsverhältnis für Wien ok - super nah am 1. Bezirk.

We loved this place, though had little interaction with staff so can't say much about that. But front desk person spoke English, helpful. The location was great, three blocks from metro and convenient walk to major sites. Breakfast was very good. The place looked great, very Baroque in a lovely sleepy sort of way, Also very quiet. All in all a great place. The only minus was lack of wifi, though they said they had plug in internet if you brought a laptop.

We have been to Vienna before. This accommodation was not quite the quality of our previous trip but it was good and pleasant. We were close to an access to the U and other stores and services. We had a good time and enjoyed our stay and Pension Franz.

Exactly what we have epected! Everything we needed was there, clean and a very good service. Definitely not the luxury of a 4-5 stars hotel, but a very clean, pleasant and well located place, with the scent of old classical Wien.

We had a triple room with a view to the Votiv church. The room was clean and we had enough space. The windows did not close properly, that might be a problem during winter. The location was very good, 10 min walk to Stephansplatz or 3 min to the Schottentor/University metro/tram station. Breakfast was ok, but usually they bring very little food and you have to hunt the trays in order to eat properly. Sometimes cheese or eggs were finished and they did not bring more even though it was very early, 8-8.30 and the breakfast finished at 10. The coffee was quite bad.

Location of the pension is very nice to major area of Vienna. easily walked around to the center area. In comparison with the rates, this was very reasobable and comfortable accomodaiton. although it looks a little bit old, it may assume traditional Vienna.

We stayed at Pension Franz in a quad room for two nights. Although on first impression the place looks like taken straight out of a Transilvannyan folk book, you get used to the decor. We asked for two double beds which were arranged nicely. The room was very spacious although it was a bit damp and old. The bathroom was nothing to write home about but very clean nonetheless. The service provided was in general very good, the night clerk received us in cheerful mode (although we arrived about 11 pm) and provided useful tips. The buffet breakfast, although not much to choose from, was more than enough. The location is excellent: a 3-minute walk to Schottentor Metro Station, 5 minutes to the Ring-Strasse, 10 minutes to Hofburg Palace. There are some shops, cafes and restaurants just off the entrance. In a nutshell: good service, great location, excellent price. We had a great stay in Vienna and would probably book this hotel again. After all, you would have to be very lucky to find a better place at a similar price.

The location is good, you can walk(about 10 min) to St Stephan^s cathedral. WE walked everywhere from the hotel. The service is friendly but not very profesional, (they forgot our wake up call the day we were leaving! and there was nobody at the front desk at 7.00 to do our check out!!) The rooms are small but the public areas are nice, they are cosy and make you feel as if you were in a family home. The rooms are not kept very clean and our bathroom had a sewer problem and there was always a bad smell. But it is good price for Vienna standards and considering the location it is quite a deal all in all.

Breakfast room had no external windows & was jammed full of tables - very constricted space. Breakfast was more than adequate, but items not replenished promptly - may not be during a short breakfast sitting. No air conditioning, but we were provided with a portable fan which was a life-saver! Public areas opulently furnished, but our bedroom had sparse & basic furnishings, though the bed was very comfortable. Hotel location was on the edge of the 'scenic' central area, was very convenient for seeing the city and I would definately recommend to other travellers as good value for money.

Our double room was quite ok except the door opened right into the dining room, so we were woken up about 7 am each morning when first people were coming to breakfast, full of morning energy and quite loud))) the other room we took was quite shabby but with a beautiful sight from teh window... the service is very unostentatious. the location is great, just 5-10 mins walk from all the main central attractions. breakfast is very substantial, good variety of different meals (compare to many european hotels same level) no internet in the rooms but apparently an internet cafe is somewhere nearby (we didnt check thou)

THe value for money was very good. The only thing I have to complain about are the beds (matrazes, room 208) which have been extremly worse!!! so after 3 nights you had a back pain. Of course the quality of the bed ist the essantial in a room. Except of that (which should be changed) I liked Pension Franz!

Someone of the hotel lost my reservation, so when I arrived at the hotel with the reservation they said that there were no rooms, and it was 9 p.m. o'clock! Lucky we find an other hotel near there but it wasn't a good experience...

A charming place literally steps from the Ring at an affordable price. All of the staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and pleasant. The first day of our arrival, my wife and I staggered into the place jetlagged and need of food. The man at the desk gave us an excellent recommendation for lunch. A local place with good food and no tourists. I just wish the coffee at breakfast were just a little better--after all, it's Vienna--but I don't want to ask too much. You can't go wrong here. Also...if you are interested in checking out the wine taverns in Gruening (sp?) the trolley stops literally at the door of the hotel.

I could recommend the hotel to all those who are not looking for any luxus and who are satisfied when the bed is OK, the shower works, the price is low enough and for whom the good location is important, as well. And who like that the Irish pub is quite opposite!

The rooms/bathrooms were in disrepair and the carpeting looked dirty. There was an unclean smell. The public area looked dingy and dusty -very old. The breakfast table was not cleared and we had to sit with dirty dishes piled at the end of the table. Employees were very nice but the owner insisted we pay cash repeatedly even though he had a credit machine. The hotel was in some sort of a business building and we had to go upstairs two floors to get to the hotel. Not a very impressive hotel...quite depressing. This was not a 3-star...more like 2 star.

For this price, this downtown hotel was more than all right. Only I found the smell oozing from the drain a bit disturbing. After locking up the bathroom door, however, I could sleep really well in a new and clean bed.

The hotel is by the metro, which was nice. The room was very large, but had ancient carpets that were very dirty so I always wore my socks when there. Also, we found a lot of ants in our room! One was on my pillow and tons were on the floor. We didn't even have food in our room. So I would definitely not stay there again.
