I loved the accessibility (D-line S-Bahn would take me to the center in a few minutes). That comes at a price, as the tram can be heard and felt in the rooms. A Billa supermarket just around the corner is a great plus! And the free Wireless was impecable!

Carpets in my room were filthy and floor in the BreakfastRoom was dirty. Room (on street side) was very noisy - closing the window at night kept out some of the noise but made the room very hot and stuffy. Breakfast very ordinary, staff unhelpful. On the positive side, a good location, close to supermarket and tram.

Hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the city centre and about 10 to 15 minutes walk from the airport bus station. I stayed one night in a single room which was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was nothing much to talk about though. Staff/owners were helpful and very friendly.

There is nothing good about this hotel. The rooms were dirty. Breakfast was dull and coffee cold. One positive was that the shower was very good. They had crammed as many rooms into a small space as possible. The saving grace of this hotel was its location. It was in easy walking of all the fabulous sites in Vienna.

The location of this hotel is excellent, very near and walking distance to the Danube Canal, The Bermuda Triangle and the Rathaus which hosts a fantastic Christmas market in November & December. The hotel was ideally placed for the purpose of our trip which was to attend Euro 2008. Hotel was clean and tidy and was everything you needed for a good nights sleep. We were more than happy with the value for money at this hotel.

Es el Hotel mas cutre en el que haya estado, pero coincidió con la Eurocopa y no pude encontar nada más, y de hecho el precio fue exagerado para lo que es el hotel.

It's not a palace of course, but contains all the neccesary facilities. The main of them is bed, not speak of internet, TV, location in the city center and so on. If you want to spare money, come here.

The Goldenebar is good to stay in Wien saving some money, being quiet and staying very very close to the center. My overall opinion is very good and I sincerely suggest to choose this hotel.

Small hotel at convinient location. Rooms facing the street are too noisy if you leave the windows open, which you have to because the rooms are nor air conditioned. But overall for the price this is a good hotel.

First night contractors started to work on the facad at 6 o´clock in the morning taking down the plaster. Impossible to sleep. Breakfast not so genorous- the staff spread a "don´t eat to much"-feeling. But, if you are in good company it is easy to oversee with these details. Vienna is a wonderful city and you are after all here to enjoy yourself, and if you get up at 6 you have a lot of time to spend, so keep smiling.

It was a pleasant surprise to find that breakfast was included in the price - this was not shown in the publicity information. The accommodation might not have been suitable for less mobile people - as there were three flights of stairs to the reception and the rooms and no evidence of a lift. However, we would stay there again, really liked the accommodation and would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in a central, yet quiet, part of Vienna.

My opinion is that it's a good option for young people who want/have to spend a short period in Vienna (few days of holiday or business travel). The main advantage is its location in the center area.

Very easily reached from the train station. Follow the instructions as given and the tram practically drops you off at the door. Rooms were not very fancy, but nicely clean and tidy. A little out of the way from a lot of the main sights, but not too far to walk if you like walking. Also with the tram stop right at the corner you can easily get anywhere.

Unfriendly staff at welcome and departure, impossibility to have a taxi booked in advance to reach airport train at 6.30 am; blankets and pillows and sheets filthy and in very poor condition; room and bathroom dirty; hygenic conditions at (very poor) breakfast buffet unsatifactory and a matter of concern. Place should be visited by hotel inspectors, rating of 3 stars is a mystery

We had the worst ever experience in this hotel room. We found lots of bugs on bed, wall and carpet. Photos of room on website don't match with actual room. Smoking is allowed in breakfast room. And the food taste bad.

The Goldener Bär was a modest centrum hotel. If some of the ratings seem a little low, it is because probably a little more careful cleaning could do. On the other hand in relation to the general price level, the hotel offered a reasonable price performance ratio. The presentation photos and descriptions were too positive.

We were lucky to get the room at that special date (31./01.04), cause it´s situated nearly central in Vienna. The room was O.K. but the staff was not very flexible an unfriendly in the morning. The breakfast buffet was nearly poor.
