A nice clean Hotel - friendly and competent staff - a very good breakfast(the best on our trip through Europe) - free internet and pc's available - half an hour walk to the city center, or just a few minutes by tram/bus/subway. Good restaurants near by. On wednesdays there's a bazar in the street round the corner(3-400m away).

It's a really nice hotel. It's not too close to Viena's downtown, but you can always take the tramway or the metro... it's not far away from the station. The price is good and the rooms are also good. I recommend this hotel.

Check-in was quick and easy. Our room was fresh, light and clean and the bed was comfortable. 3 free internet PC's in the foyer is popular. There is a good dining room with good breakfast choices. Our room (E08) was on the ground floor with a tiled floor outside our room. This caused a lot of noise when wheeled bags or bins were dragged passed our doorway (at 2.30am!). When people laughed or talked in this tiled area it also caused a lot of noise. The hotel is not in an attractive area, but is close to rail and tram, which is a quick and easy way to get to the city centre.

The rooms are nice and clean, but if you get a room facing the street the traffic can be quite loud. Unfortunately smoking is allowed in the lobby, which doesn't make it very welcoming. Breakfast is ok for 5 EUR. The hotel is situated close to the U-Bahn and the center is within walking distance.

We found out about this hotel be reading the comments, so I thought maybe I can help someone else to choose this hotel: spacious and very clean rooms and very polite employees. The Internet connection was very good, and I can say the same thing about the breakfast. A very good quality of the services at a very good price! Thank you!

Probably the hotel needed to be repainted and much more accurancy for the breakfast, that is quite poor (salat and sweet). Globally is as indicated not far from the metro so quite near to the city center. A good increase would be have non smoking public areas (like entrance). However a really great price!!!!

Very well situated hotel, few stops from Westbahnhof. Small rooms, but very tidy, beds are over the average in quality, staff polite and competent. Best offer for tourists who only need a room for a good sleep after a long walk in Vienna. We had a very good price, too.

In February 2010, my boyfriend and I spend three nights at Hotel Geblergasse in Vienna. We were very happy with our choice as the rooms were clean and in very good condition. Our room was rather small (which was all we needed) but a friend, who travelled alone, got a double room which was very spacious. Breakfast was quite good for 5,- Euro (you could choose between different kinds of bread, marmelade, honey, Nutella, cheese, cold meat, yoghurt, fruit, eggs, cornflakes, tea, coffee, etc.)and free internet was definitely a plus. The location of the hotel is excellent: the metro (U6) is a 10-minutes-walk away and so is the tram (44). There are many restaurants and shops nearby the hotel and it seems like a safe area. Furthermore, when we only had to leave for the airport in the afternoon, we could leave our luggage at the hotel. The only weak point was that the hotel was rather noisy - but after a long walking day in Vienna we hardly paid attention to that.

The hotel is in a very peaceful and quiet area of the city, about 15 - 20 minutes away from the center. It is just 5 minutes away from tram and subway stations. The staff was very welcoming and let us check in a lot earlier than our actual check-in time. They also stored our bags on the last day after check out since our train back was only at night. The staff knew English and were helpful (except for one lady who had a grumpy face and didn't respond properly to questions). We paid around 90 Eur per day for a 5-bed room. The room very spacious and clean. But the facilities in the room were very basic (for example, don't expect a microwave or coffee maker etc). For the price, breakfast could've been included in price. The breakfast served here is definitely not worth 5 bucks. So, we went to the city to eat. There was a safe inside the room to lock up laptop and other important documents. We were also provided free lan cables for internet inside the rooms. In all, a good hotel if you are looking for budget accommodation with a quiet neighborhood just outside the city center.

This was my first stay at Hotel Geblergasse. The hotel staff spoke good English which is a huge plus for me.I had a double room which I felt was a perfect size for us.It was 2 beds pushed together but each bed was a good size for any adult. The television in the room only had 1 channel in English (cnn). This was not a problem for me as I was not there to watch television but if you plan on spending a lot of time in the room it may be a problem. The bathroom was very clean and had a nice size shower. The entire room was updated and modern. The lobby has 3 free computers that you can use to get on the internet. Now the bad, Do not get the breakfast for 5 Euros. The only thing that was hot was the bad coffee.Cold flat meat(lunch meat in the US),watered down orange juice, tasteless fruit salad, etc.Walk 2 blocks to the McCafe down the street and get better coffee and better food.Ask the front desk for a free map of the city. When I requested it the lady was very helpful and marked my map with the locations of the city center and train station nearest the Hotel.Buy the all day pass for the public transportation for 5 Euros. You can ride all the buses, street cars, and underground rails all you want for 24 hours.Overall my stay was great except for the breakfast. I would 100% stay there again.

This hotel was a slight out of the centre of Vienna but our hotel was a couple of minutes walk from the Metro and the transport system in Vienna is very good. I was most pleased by the female receptionist during our stay who was very helpful and friendly helping us to book last minute concert tickets and advising us on the best way back to the airport and booking us the taxi. Our room was clean, spacious and quiet. There are shops and restaurants in the vicinity.

The hotel is easily reached from underground and 3 minutes on foot; surroundings were quiet and safe; quality of service was very high and breakfast was very good, especially considering its price: only 5 Euros; staff at reception was very kind and spoke two or three languages, so communication wasn't an issue; finally, we reccomend this hotel to every kind of traveller.

Do not stay in this hotel! We are not very demanding family. All we need is clean room and access to the public transport. The room was terrible (4 people). The walls were dirty with shoe marks up to the level of 1 m. I have never seen something like this before! The receptionist was rude. The parking key did not work. We were leaving this place early in the morning and were back only to sleep around midnight. This was a nightmare!

The hotel is excellent except for two things; first of all the walls are really paper-thin in some rooms, you could easily hear a normal discussion perfectly from the next room. Secondly, the bed was not the best I've seen. It wa really thin so you could feel the strings when trying to sleep..not nice! Otherwise e really liked the hotel, good breakfast, very nice that you could use their computers, free parking in front of the hotel and really excellent staff!

Hotel was great. The rooms were immaculate and clean. Very very clean. I loved the bathroom. The employees were very nice. Breakfast was great too. Hotel was easily accessible to the train. I just wished that the hotel had air conditioning because if you left the windows open, it was very noisy outside. Vienna was a beautiful city and did not have to worry about bad people or bad areas. Everyone was kind and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would come back again!

The hotel is conveniently located - very close to the U-Bahn (Längenfeldgasse). The room was cleaned every day. Although the room was very small, the furniture was new and the bathroom/shower was perfect. The breakfast offered at 5 Euro per person is worth it - great selection. There are 3 computers with free internet downstairs in the lobby, which makes it perfect for checking the weather. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Had a quad room. Unlike most hotels that accommodate two children (generally a sofa bed) there were actually 4 beds side by side in this room. Room wasn't ready for us at 4.30pm in the afternoon. We therefore decided to sit at the small bar. Pleased to say room became available within 10 minutes. Hotel only a 5-7 minute walk from the nearest train. The hotel is not very central, but it's just a few minutes' walk to the U-Bahn and tram stops so it's possible to get to the centre very quickly. (Public transport in Vienna is excellent.) The hotel is located in quite rough areas, but just outside the city centre and less than 1 km's walk from the nearest tram stop (the tram brings you to Schottentor in only a few minutes), we couldn't complain. Hotel well situated for city centre only a short tram ride away. The hotel seemed to be up a small side street, but once we found our feet this was no problem. Breakfast was excellent enough of a choice to fill you up for the morning. We found a lovely restaurant one street over with a lovely atmosphere and great food always full of people. The staff were very helpful and happy. We had a room looking down on the road and could hear cars etc in the morning if windows open. On the whole we really enjoyed our stay there.

I was really surprised by this hotel! The quality vs price is for me amazing! Our room was spacious, the bathroom too, it was clean and not old-fashionned, the breakfast worths the price, and there is internet at the entrance which is useful! The area is quiet but not really beautiful! But there is the Ubahn, tramways, and a macdonald at a 5minutes walk! The only negative point: the employees did not smile once and they have maps of vienna but don't give it if you don't ask!But it really worths the price ;)

As far as quality vs. price is concerned, the hotel is rather OK. An economy class hotel for budget travelers. The good point is the internet service free of charge. Hotel itself is not too far from subway station (some 300 m.), however environment around hotel is grey and boring- no shops, no restaurants etc., just nothing... On the other hand, you can use U-bahn and achieve Mariahilfer Strasse in 5 minutes or the centre area in 10- 15 minutes, in general, not as bad!

The hotel is on of most suitable for persons with medium needs, like professors, teachers and so on. The relationship with hotel personel is excellent, they are kind and with a great wish to help. The hotel is (very important!) clean and situated in a quit environment and close to u-bahn and tram station (2 - 300 m). The breakfast is a bufet system, not very reach, but enough for a true breakfast - coffe, tea, eggs, salami, cheese. I, and also my coleagues, was very satisfied about this hotel, and will be happy to return each time when we will visit (or simply pas through) Wien.

I was in Wien for business and spent 1 week at this hotel. I had a spartan single room which was quite small (but enough for my needs) with private wc/shower. The room was clean enough and the staff friendly and efficient. Very important was the working internet connection very fast and for free.

The hotel is near some gay clubs, sex shops and similar establishments, which may not be to every one's taste / suitable for families. The underground and tram are close by and connections to the centre are fast and frequent. We had a decent-sized double room (twin beds, though - bye bye, romance ...) with balcony and relatively big bathroom. The heating in the main room did not seem to work, so we used the heater in the bathroom to heat the room. The duvets are a bit thin, and there were no additional blankets or pillows (although I am sure they would have provided them if we had asked). On the whole, the hotel is still good value for money for a city like Vienna.

The hotel had nothing extra to offer, not even tissues or a hair dryer, but the manager, Mohammed Ali, was super. The rooms are clean and rather small (single room experience). However for a short stay and the money I find it acceptable. It's nice that Internet is provided through WLAN, LAN or 2 PCs in the entrance hall.

I would say it's rather a good 2 star hotel than a 3 star one, I am still wondering how they obtained the third star... But it's overall a good hotel; even if it is not located in a lovely district, it is near the U Bahn and the Strassenbahn, you get quickly and easily to the center of the city.
