My main problem was due to noise early in the morning and nigth partially to costumers shutting the door harshly and partially to mechanic sounds ( I dont know the origin ),,otherwise totally compatıble with previous informations.

A little tucked away from the inner ring, yet close enough to the tram that it wasn't an inconvenience. Note, though, that the #6 line is inoperable between the hotel and Wien West train station. I saw that there was a free shuttle, but couldn't figure out where it picked up from so just winged it. With a 5 Eu 24-hour pass, and the regularity of Vienna tram system, pretty easy to make ad hoc corrections. The room was quiet for the most part, save for an overly vocal couple down the hall. This could have happened anywhere, so it would be unfair to knock the hotel for it. Not much going on in the area immediately surrounding the hotel, but the room was clean and efficient, and well-connected to the rest of the city via transit (with the exception noted above.) For the money couldn't be beat. The breakfast buffet is a real deal. 5 Eu above the room price, with a well-stocked buffet. You won't find anything comparable for that price if you try to forage out on your own.

I was at Geblergasse from the 16th until 20th of July 2011 and booked a 3 bed room which was attributed to me and my friends in the basement. The room was quite big, the furniture looked pleasing to the eye although cheap (but one would understand that from the price range), the bathroom was not quite like advertised (crooked shower doors and the occasional rust here and there). Water was excellent, as well as anywhere in Vienna and you can find it better than bottled water :). All in all it was a good and enjoyable stay and I would return given the chance!

A good hotel with perfect location. The only inconvenience is that a bed in a double room is created of 2 single beds. That is not very comfortable.

We were very comfortable at the Geblergasse. It was a short easy walk from the U-station. It was clean and the staff was friendly and professional. We had a top floor room with a balcony - very nice! We returned to the hotel after a side trip to Salzburg and got a basement room where the windows faced a brick wall - not as nice, although the room and bathroom were larger than the top floor room. The internet in the lobby was very convenient.

I was in Geblergasse hotel in April 2011 with my sister. Room looks exactly as in the photo on the web page. Our room was really clean. We arrived to the hotel at 10 a.m. and our room was already available. Last day we left our luggage in the luggage room and picked-up on the afternoon. The staff was very helpfull and nice. In the room was a TV and a safe.

This seemed to be a clean and safe place to stay. However, the telelvision in our room did not work. To be fair, we did not say anything because we were tired at the end of the day. However, I believe the cleaning staff should make sure everything is working properly. The biggest issue we had, after we got home, we realized we forgot our bag of dirty clothes. We called the hotel and they claim to not have found it in our room. The bag is waist high, so there's no way it could not have been found. This makes me wonder if the hotel staff is really cleaning the properties well and/or they are dishonest. Either way, very disappointing. I once left my wedding rings in a different hotel and they were returned to me. A "missing" bag of dirty clothes really makes me dislike this place.

Good experience for three-day stays for travelers. Good price and convenient traffic, and the only problem is that you can hear others speaking outside of the room. When I left the hotel and forgot my bracelet there, I emailed Geblergasse, and the staff mailed it back to me in China. Quite impressive!

The hotel is really good, near the Underground, the staff is very kind, the price is good. Only 2 cons: -In the main hall smoking is not forbidden -The breakfast is very poor, and doesn't value the 5€ price.

Hotel lobby is awful, as there are chairs where smokers gather, so when you enter the hotel first thing you smell is cigarette smoke, which is quite heavy. Overall, an ok hotel. Very nice staff and clean rooms. HOwever there are many loose ends in the hotel that need to be fixed- rooms should be painted, toilets fixed etc.

Positive: The Hotel Geblergasse is a quite cheap hotel at a good location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was ok for the price. We didn't have breakfast there, but there is a very good bakery nearby, across the "U-Bahn" station Alser Strasse which I absolutely do recommend! Negative: The Hotel Geblergasse is a SMOKING(!) hotel. Don't forget to ask for a non-smoking room!!! Otherwise you won't get any sleep as I did the first night. The positive thing is that on the next day I asked for another room and they were very helpful in solving my problem.

I arrived after dark and found the hotel from the metro stop with no problem by the directions given online. The area seems to be some residential (apartments) with commercial businesses mixed in. It seems off the beaten path but worked fine for me. Metro and tram stops are close by making it easy to navigate Vienna. My room was small though not much different than other hotels in Europe.

I had a very good stay. Room clean. Breakfast very Ok for the price (5€). Staff support ok. Good service having internet free (e.g. for the flight check-in). Accomodation quite good. I really suggest this hotel if you have to visit vienna. Transportation ok to move towards all the city, train stop near to the hotel. Only a problem with a cold thermo, but we survived.

I usually do not leave comments or fill out surveys, but my experienced at Hotel Geblergasse must be shared. The hotel itself was of good value, and cannot complain about the price. However, what stood out was the "above and beyond" customer service. I had left my iPhone in my room as I was rushing to board my 5-6 hour train ride to Prague, and my flight back to US the following morning. Upon arriving in Prague, I received an email from the hotel indicating that they had found my phone and requested instructions. By now, there was not enough time to retreive my phone without missing my flight the next day. I emailed back requesting if they could send my phone to my home address back in USA and indicate what method of payment they would like to cover the costs. They replied back that they already sent the phone to my home address via registered mail, and not once did they ask for compensation. The phone arrived a couple of weeks ago, fully functional and just the way I left it in Vienna. I am still trying to figure out a meaningful way to thank them, but in the meantime I will leave a very HIGH recommendation to stay at Hotel Geblergasse for they excellent customer service that extends above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks again Hotel Geblergasse.

This was my first time in Vienna and hotels closer to the city were out of my budget. This hotel is a fair deal for the price but not in a great neighorhood. It is clean and metro close. The lobby area was always full of fellow travellers and the wifi worked fine (in lobby). Breakfast was not my style so I passed on it after the first morning. Stayed four nights. Not good area to be alone at night, and would not suggest it for young people returning late. Hotel is safe, but area is shady. I will not stay here again.

A nice clean Hotel - friendly and competent staff - a very good breakfast(the best on our trip through Europe) - free internet and pc's available - half an hour walk to the city center, or just a few minutes by tram/bus/subway. It's a really nice hotel. It's not too close to Viena's downtown, but you can always take the tramway or the metro... it's not far away from the station. The price is good and the rooms are also good. I recommend this hotel.

Check-in was quick and easy. Our room was fresh, light and clean and the bed was comfortable. 3 free internet PC's in the foyer is popular. There is a good dining room with good breakfast choices. Our room (E08) was on the ground floor with a tiled floor outside our room. This caused a lot of noise when wheeled bags or bins were dragged passed our doorway (at 2.30am!). When people laughed or talked in this tiled area it also caused a lot of noise. The hotel is not in an attractive area, but is close to rail and tram, which is a quick and easy way to get to the city centre.

The rooms are nice and clean, but if you get a room facing the street the traffic can be quite loud. Unfortunately smoking is allowed in the lobby, which doesn't make it very welcoming. Breakfast is ok for 5 EUR. The hotel is situated close to the U-Bahn and the center is within walking distance.

Probably the hotel needed to be repainted and much more accurancy for the breakfast, that is quite poor (salat and sweet). Globally is as indicated not far from the metro so quite near to the city center. A good increase would be have non smoking public areas (like entrance). However a really great price!!!!

In February 2010, my boyfriend and I spend three nights at Hotel Geblergasse in Vienna. We were very happy with our choice as the rooms were clean and in very good condition. Our room was rather small (which was all we needed) but a friend, who travelled alone, got a double room which was very spacious. Breakfast was quite good for 5,- Euro (you could choose between different kinds of bread, marmelade, honey, Nutella, cheese, cold meat, yoghurt, fruit, eggs, cornflakes, tea, coffee, etc.)and free internet was definitely a plus. The location of the hotel is excellent: the metro (U6) is a 10-minutes-walk away and so is the tram (44). There are many restaurants and shops nearby the hotel and it seems like a safe area. Furthermore, when we only had to leave for the airport in the afternoon, we could leave our luggage at the hotel. The only weak point was that the hotel was rather noisy - but after a long walking day in Vienna we hardly paid attention to that.

The hotel is in a very peaceful and quiet area of the city, about 15 - 20 minutes away from the center. It is just 5 minutes away from tram and subway stations. The staff was very welcoming and let us check in a lot earlier than our actual check-in time. They also stored our bags on the last day after check out since our train back was only at night. The staff knew English and were helpful (except for one lady who had a grumpy face and didn't respond properly to questions). We paid around 90 Eur per day for a 5-bed room. The room very spacious and clean. But the facilities in the room were very basic (for example, don't expect a microwave or coffee maker etc). For the price, breakfast could've been included in price. The breakfast served here is definitely not worth 5 bucks. So, we went to the city to eat. There was a safe inside the room to lock up laptop and other important documents. We were also provided free lan cables for internet inside the rooms. In all, a good hotel if you are looking for budget accommodation with a quiet neighborhood just outside the city center.

This was my first stay at Hotel Geblergasse. The hotel staff spoke good English which is a huge plus for me.I had a double room which I felt was a perfect size for us.It was 2 beds pushed together but each bed was a good size for any adult. The television in the room only had 1 channel in English (cnn). This was not a problem for me as I was not there to watch television but if you plan on spending a lot of time in the room it may be a problem. The bathroom was very clean and had a nice size shower. The entire room was updated and modern. The lobby has 3 free computers that you can use to get on the internet. Now the bad, Do not get the breakfast for 5 Euros. The only thing that was hot was the bad coffee.Cold flat meat(lunch meat in the US),watered down orange juice, tasteless fruit salad, etc.Walk 2 blocks to the McCafe down the street and get better coffee and better food.Ask the front desk for a free map of the city. When I requested it the lady was very helpful and marked my map with the locations of the city center and train station nearest the Hotel.Buy the all day pass for the public transportation for 5 Euros. You can ride all the buses, street cars, and underground rails all you want for 24 hours.Overall my stay was great except for the breakfast. I would 100% stay there again.

This hotel was a slight out of the centre of Vienna but our hotel was a couple of minutes walk from the Metro and the transport system in Vienna is very good. I was most pleased by the female receptionist during our stay who was very helpful and friendly helping us to book last minute concert tickets and advising us on the best way back to the airport and booking us the taxi. The hotel is easily reached from underground and 3 minutes on foot; surroundings were quiet and safe; quality of service was very high and breakfast was very good, especially considering its price: only 5 Euros; staff at reception was very kind and spoke two or three languages, so communication wasn't an issue; finally, we reccomend this hotel to every kind of traveller.

Hotel defilato, silenzioso, seppur vicino alla fermata della metro (5 minuti). Camere abbastanza pulite, colazione abbondante anche se non molto varia, personale davvero gentile e disponibile. Do not stay in this hotel! We are not very demanding family. All we need is clean room and access to the public transport. The room was terrible (4 people). The walls were dirty with shoe marks up to the level of 1 m. I have never seen something like this before! The receptionist was rude. The parking key did not work. The hotel is excellent except for two things; first of all the walls are really paper-thin in some rooms, you could easily hear a normal discussion perfectly from the next room. Secondly, the bed was not the best I've seen. It wa really thin so you could feel the strings when trying to sleep..not nice! Otherwise e really liked the hotel, good breakfast, very nice that you could use their computers, free parking in front of the hotel and really excellent staff!

Hotel was great. The rooms were immaculate and clean. Very very clean. I loved the bathroom. The employees were very nice. Breakfast was great too. Hotel was easily accessible to the train. I just wished that the hotel had air conditioning because if you left the windows open, it was very noisy outside. Vienna was a beautiful city and did not have to worry about bad people or bad areas.

The hotel is conveniently located - very close to the U-Bahn (Längenfeldgasse). The room was cleaned every day. Although the room was very small, the furniture was new and the bathroom/shower was perfect. The breakfast offered at 5 Euro per person is worth it - great selection. There are 3 computers with free internet downstairs in the lobby, which makes it perfect for checking the weather. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

My room was at the first floor, next to the breakfast room so from 7 o' clock in the morning there was a little bit of noise. I recommend you to avoid the rooms at the first floor, especially near the breakfast room. The room was very clean and the hotel is very close to the subway so you can easily reach the center of the city. I think the price is very cheap

Overall, the hotel is fairly a good place to stay. the staff were generally helpful, but some staff at the reception desk did not really show warm hospitality and a little bit unfriendly, except for one new staff who actually entertained to my needs and inquiries. the hotel is also near to the underground station. and finally, this hotel offers a good value for money and it is worth staying here. i'll definitely consider to stay at this hotel the next time i come to Vienna.

It is really close to the underground and you can reach the city center in less than 15 minutes. Excellent price for the offered services.

The staff did not seem to know what they were doing and were rude. The rooms were comfortable, but nothing exceptional. The location from the Vienna's city center was quite a distance. The best part of the stay was the excellent breakfast!

Our room was terrible noisy and cold. The cleanning service was early in the morning disturbing our sleeping.

Had a quad room. Unlike most hotels that accommodate two children (generally a sofa bed) there were actually 4 beds side by side in this room. Room wasn't ready for us at 4.30pm in the afternoon. We therefore decided to sit at the small bar. Pleased to say room became available within 10 minutes. Hotel only a 5-7 minute walk from the nearest train. Map does not do this justice, we caught a taxi! This website seemed to offer this hotel at a lower cost than all of the other sites when reviewing in Autumn 2008.

The hotel was perfect for what I needed it for: a one night stay for Xmas shopping in town. Good quality-price ratio. Close to downtown, easy access by car, tram or metro (few stops to Westbahnhof/Mariahilferstrasse) Room and bathroom were clean, bed was OK. When asked for non-smoking room upon arrival, I got an instant room change.

The hotel is not very central, but it's just a few minutes' walk to the U-Bahn and tram stops so it's possible to get to the centre very quickly. (Public transport in Vienna is excellent.) Being part of a chain, the hotel is a little characterless, but it was efficient and very good value. Breakfast is extra, but very generous and worth the price.

A bit auster for a 3 star hotel. The sink was clogged and the lights in the bathroom were dim. They did offer to change our room. Overall good value for the money, very close to metro station.

The hotel is located in quite rough areas, but just outside the city centre and less than 1 km's walk from the nearest tram stop (the tram brings you to Schottentor in only a few minutes), we couldn't complain. Such a location and such pleasant interior for less than 50 eur/night - we're more than happy to recommend both Vienna and Hotel Geblergasse to others!

Hotel well situated for city centre only a short tram ride away. The hotel seemed to be up a small side street, but once we found our feet this was no problem. Breakfast was excellent enough of a choice to fill you up for the morning. We found a lovely restaurant one street over with a lovely atmosphere and great food always full of people. The staff were very helpful and happy. We had a room looking down on the road and could hear cars etc in the morning if windows open. On the whole we really enjoyed our stay there.
