The hotel is in a very peaceful and quiet area of the city, about 15 - 20 minutes away from the center. It is just 5 minutes away from tram and subway stations. The staff was very welcoming and let us check in a lot earlier than our actual check-in time. They also stored our bags on the last day after check out since our train back was only at night. The staff knew English and were helpful (except for one lady who had a grumpy face and didn't respond properly to questions). We paid around 90 Eur per day for a 5-bed room. The room very spacious and clean. But the facilities in the room were very basic (for example, don't expect a microwave or coffee maker etc). For the price, breakfast could've been included in price. The breakfast served here is definitely not worth 5 bucks. So, we went to the city to eat. There was a safe inside the room to lock up laptop and other important documents. We were also provided free lan cables for internet inside the rooms. In all, a good hotel if you are looking for budget accommodation with a quiet neighborhood just outside the city center.

Average hotel for average price but good for few days stay. If you go there by car, please check availability of the parking place - there is almost impossible park your car in public areas so you must use the hotel's parking which have a small capacity.

This was my first stay at Hotel Geblergasse. The hotel staff spoke good English which is a huge plus for me.I had a double room which I felt was a perfect size for us.It was 2 beds pushed together but each bed was a good size for any adult. The television in the room only had 1 channel in English (cnn). This was not a problem for me as I was not there to watch television but if you plan on spending a lot of time in the room it may be a problem. The bathroom was very clean and had a nice size shower. The entire room was updated and modern. The lobby has 3 free computers that you can use to get on the internet. Now the bad, Do not get the breakfast for 5 Euros. The only thing that was hot was the bad coffee.Cold flat meat(lunch meat in the US),watered down orange juice, tasteless fruit salad, etc.Walk 2 blocks to the McCafe down the street and get better coffee and better food.Ask the front desk for a free map of the city. When I requested it the lady was very helpful and marked my map with the locations of the city center and train station nearest the Hotel.Buy the all day pass for the public transportation for 5 Euros. You can ride all the buses, street cars, and underground rails all you want for 24 hours.Overall my stay was great except for the breakfast. I would 100% stay there again.

This hotel was a slight out of the centre of Vienna but our hotel was a couple of minutes walk from the Metro and the transport system in Vienna is very good. I was most pleased by the female receptionist during our stay who was very helpful and friendly helping us to book last minute concert tickets and advising us on the best way back to the airport and booking us the taxi. Our room was clean, spacious and quiet. There are shops and restaurants in the vicinity.

The hotel is easily reached from underground and 3 minutes on foot; surroundings were quiet and safe; quality of service was very high and breakfast was very good, especially considering its price: only 5 Euros; staff at reception was very kind and spoke two or three languages, so communication wasn't an issue; finally, we reccomend this hotel to every kind of traveller.
Italy, Aug 2009

Do not stay in this hotel! We are not very demanding family. All we need is clean room and access to the public transport. The room was terrible (4 people). The walls were dirty with shoe marks up to the level of 1 m. I have never seen something like this before! The receptionist was rude. The parking key did not work. We were leaving this place early in the morning and were back only to sleep around midnight. This was a nightmare!

The hotel is excellent except for two things; first of all the walls are really paper-thin in some rooms, you could easily hear a normal discussion perfectly from the next room. Secondly, the bed was not the best I've seen. It wa really thin so you could feel the strings when trying to sleep..not nice! Otherwise e really liked the hotel, good breakfast, very nice that you could use their computers, free parking in front of the hotel and really excellent staff!

Hotel was great. The rooms were immaculate and clean. Very very clean. I loved the bathroom. The employees were very nice. Breakfast was great too. Hotel was easily accessible to the train. I just wished that the hotel had air conditioning because if you left the windows open, it was very noisy outside. Vienna was a beautiful city and did not have to worry about bad people or bad areas. Everyone was kind and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would come back again!

Unfortunately the breakfast was not included in the price, but it was ok with fresh fruit, yoghurt, bread etc. It was nice to have free access to the Internet also from my room. The room was very small, but clean. The surroundings were not welcoming and I didn't feel comfortable walking to the hotel after sunset.

The hotel is conveniently located - very close to the U-Bahn (Längenfeldgasse). The room was cleaned every day. Although the room was very small, the furniture was new and the bathroom/shower was perfect. The breakfast offered at 5 Euro per person is worth it - great selection. There are 3 computers with free internet downstairs in the lobby, which makes it perfect for checking the weather. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Overall, the hotel is fairly a good place to stay. the staff were generally helpful, but some staff at the reception desk did not really show warm hospitality and a little bit unfriendly, except for one new staff who actually entertained to my needs and inquiries. the hotel is also near to the underground station. and finally, this hotel offers a good value for money and it is worth staying here. i'll definitely consider to stay at this hotel the next time i come to Vienna.

Had a quad room. Unlike most hotels that accommodate two children (generally a sofa bed) there were actually 4 beds side by side in this room. Room wasn't ready for us at 4.30pm in the afternoon. We therefore decided to sit at the small bar. Pleased to say room became available within 10 minutes. Hotel only a 5-7 minute walk from the nearest train. Map does not do this justice, we caught a taxi! This website seemed to offer this hotel at a lower cost than all of the other sites when reviewing in Autumn 2008.

The hotel was perfect for what I needed it for: a one night stay for Xmas shopping in town. Good quality-price ratio. When asked for non-smoking room upon arrival, I got an instant room change.

The hotel is not very central, but it's just a few minutes' walk to the U-Bahn and tram stops so it's possible to get to the centre very quickly. (Public transport in Vienna is excellent.) Being part of a chain, the hotel is a little characterless, but it was efficient and very good value. Breakfast is extra, but very generous and worth the price.

The hotel is located in quite rough areas, but just outside the city centre and less than 1 km's walk from the nearest tram stop (the tram brings you to Schottentor in only a few minutes), we couldn't complain. Such a location and such pleasant interior for less than 50 eur/night - we're more than happy to recommend both Vienna and Hotel Geblergasse to others!

Hotel well situated for city centre only a short tram ride away. The hotel seemed to be up a small side street, but once we found our feet this was no problem. Breakfast was excellent enough of a choice to fill you up for the morning. We found a lovely restaurant one street over with a lovely atmosphere and great food always full of people. The staff were very helpful and happy. We had a room looking down on the road and could hear cars etc in the morning if windows open. On the whole we really enjoyed our stay there.

I am disappointed about the service. They gave me the basement room.No window ,no fresh air and only a air transmitter at bath room. But!!Please notice there is a time controller on the transmitter. You could only make it work every 15 minutes. I have to say it is the worst hotel I have ever met. But there're other rooms on the upper floor.Probably those rooms are better...I never know and I don't want to know any more.

I was really surprised by this hotel! The quality vs price is for me amazing! Our room was spacious, the bathroom too, it was clean and not old-fashionned, the breakfast worths the price, and there is internet at the entrance which is useful! The area is quiet but not really beautiful! But there is the Ubahn, tramways, and a macdonald at a 5minutes walk! The only negative point: the employees did not smile once and they have maps of vienna but don't give it if you don't ask!But it really worths the price ;)

As far as quality vs. price is concerned, the hotel is rather OK. An economy class hotel for budget travelers. The good point is the internet service free of charge. Hotel itself is not too far from subway station (some 300 m.), however environment around hotel is grey and boring- no shops, no restaurants etc., just nothing... On the other hand, you can use U-bahn and achieve Mariahilfer Strasse in 5 minutes or the centre area in 10- 15 minutes, in general, not as bad!

The hotel is on of most suitable for persons with medium needs, like professors, teachers and so on. The relationship with hotel personel is excellent, they are kind and with a great wish to help. The hotel is (very important!) clean and situated in a quit environment and close to u-bahn and tram station (2 - 300 m). The breakfast is a bufet system, not very reach, but enough for a true breakfast - coffe, tea, eggs, salami, cheese. I, and also my coleagues, was very satisfied about this hotel, and will be happy to return each time when we will visit (or simply pas through) Wien.

Hotel is nice, 5 minutes walk from subway and from a couple of pubs where to have something for dinner if you are too tired for going back to the city centre! By the way, given the Price/Quality ratio I`d surely suggest this hotel for young couples

I was in Wien for business and spent 1 week at this hotel. I had a spartan single room which was quite small (but enough for my needs) with private wc/shower. The room was clean enough and the staff friendly and efficient. Very important was the working internet connection very fast and for free.

The hotel is near some gay clubs, sex shops and similar establishments, which may not be to every one's taste / suitable for families. The underground and tram are close by and connections to the centre are fast and frequent. We had a decent-sized double room (twin beds, though - bye bye, romance ...) with balcony and relatively big bathroom. The heating in the main room did not seem to work, so we used the heater in the bathroom to heat the room. The duvets are a bit thin, and there were no additional blankets or pillows (although I am sure they would have provided them if we had asked). On the whole, the hotel is still good value for money for a city like Vienna.

The hotel had nothing extra to offer, not even tissues or a hair dryer, but the manager, Mohammed Ali, was super. We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. Our first impression of it was ok. Although the room is small, typical of European hotels, the sheets looked clean. However, when we came back to our room the 2nd night, a bag we put on the table was gone! It has about $50 worth of stuff but contained a lot of travel accessories. We reported to the front desk. But guy there told us that the maid didn't see anything on the table. We told him we were leaving the next day, he said talk to the manager in the morning, the hotel should be able to compensate us for the loss. When we mentioned this the next morning, the girl at the front desk said the manager wasn't there, she'll pass the message and they'll contact us. As you probably guessed, we haven't heard from them again. We'll NOT stay in this hotel again. If you want your trip to be safe and fun, stay away from this one!

This is an excellent hotel for the price. The rate we got was excellent for Vienna. The massive room (even by American standards) had 6 beds and yet left plenty of room for kids to run around. This is the place to stay for a no frills clean place to rest for the night. The breakfast is an excellent deal for 5 Euros. Very knowledgeable staff and very helpful. If you expect a place to hang out and have drinks and to step out and be in the middle of the action, then this is not the place. But, if you want a good bargain in the extremely expensive Vienna and you don't mind being a little away from the action then this is the hotel for you. A couple of very cool local hangout bars and restaurants in the area. It's a 5 min walk to the U6 station which connects to the city in 10 minutes or take a 25 minute walk along a shopping street to the center of Vienna.

without airconditioning or much better ventilation, I would not stay here again. It was much too hot to sleep. Also, to imply that free parking is available on the street is a stretch.

I was asked to pay during the check in process The room was dirty. I would have pay the same amount for a better room in a better area ...

I got a room 2nd next door to the reception desk. It was so loud I felt like having my bed directly in the entrance hall. The hotel looks and feels like a horror youth hostel and is not worth any of its stars.

I would never recommend this hotel to anybody! We booked for a double room and they wanted to assign us a twin...no way!So they gave us a six bedded room for the same price, at least in this room there was no moquet, because the one that we saw was awfully dirty! No airdryer in the room, you had to ask to reception and then to give back: NOT POSSIBLE IN A 3STAR HOTEL!and there were lots of boxes and stuff piled at the reception....what a nice welcome!!!So choose another hotel if you want a nice stay in Vienna!

For a short staying it was good enough; the only problem we had was indeed the parking space. Arriving late in the evening, we found no place around the hotel or in the hotel garage. We have been fined for parking on a street corner even no indication for no parking permitted were present.

Rooms are quite small, but for the price (I paid 34 euro), it's terrific. A big plus is free internet in EACH room (if you travel with a laptop, of course), and also free access in the lobby on two (?) hotel computers. Breakfast is 5 euro extra; very basic, but worth it for convenience sake. And a big plus for the great directions from the metro stop.

I would never recommend this hotel to anybody. Is not only the problems we had with the accomodation, is one employee's atitude that made me write this review. First of all, I made a reservation 10 days before for a triple and a double room; I decided upon this hotel after I saw the rooms' photos on the Internet. The way the rooms realy look like is so far from the way they look on the web page. The "triple room" was, in fact, a six-bed room, it looked like a camp room; the double room: I can not even describe it: stained carpet (all over), realy small room just for a bed and a TV to fit in, and the bathroom......disgusting. We tryed to solve the problem in that night in order to get the rooms we paid for. It was impossible! The male-receptionist working in that night was so rude: when we complained about the rooms he told us:"I don't care! Take it or leave it!"; while we were talking to him, he was smoking, he was sitting down (while we were standing); he even denied the Geblergasse is a 3 star hotel; he justified the stars at the entry as being just a "picture" - not the real stars, and the ones in our reservation form (from Venere.com) as a "mistake". In that night we all (5 people) slept in one room. In the morning we spoke with the manager and we solve the problem in a way... In that day it was another receptionist, very different from the previous one, more polite and willing to solve any problem. The exeprience I had at Geblergasse made me write this review in order to warn other people about this hotel; the big difference between the web page and what they show in it and the REALITY.

Not a great neighbourhood, but close to metro and easy to city centre. Good big clean rooms. Staff seemed rather disinterested.
