My wife and I stayed at the Hotel De France on our first visit to Vienna. We travelled by public transport from the airport which was so easy following the directions given. We were very impressed on arrival at the hotel and on being shown our suite. We had breakfast each morning of our stay which was excellent. We had dinner in the hotel on one occasion and had a really good meal, although it was expensive!! The wine was particularly dear......However we had a memorable stay and would love to return to both Vienna and the Hotel de France......really excellent......

free wifi in the room is not correct because its limited by 200 mb and extremely slow. 200 mb is over very quıckly. I made reservatıon for 'double superıor room'.Thıs was for 3 adults ın venere's page. But ıt was only 18 square meter. So where is DOUBLE and SUPERIOR room? Everything else were good.

I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights in the off tourist period ( late November). My room was upgraded to suite without extra fee. Charge was including breafkast so the value for money for me was really great. breakfast is very good. staff is doing their best to help and to deal with all customers fast. It takes max 15 min walk to get to the St Stephan platz so location is convenient . Metro is just a foot step from the hotel door. all in all - good place for economy 5 star version

Our stay at the De France Hotel in Vienna was generally very good - it is a very comfortable hotel in an excellent location. However, there were several disappointments which prevent me from giving it top marks. Breakfast is way overpriced. It is possible to have a full breakfast in a nice cafe nearby for a third of the price. When we arrived, there was hair on the toilet seat - however, a cleaner came within 15 minutes and fixed it. The staff at reception was not friendly, although very efficient. One evening there was live music in the lobby which luckily stopped at 23.00, but there was certainly no quietness in the rooms until then. So overall a good quality hotel, but could be improved.

Typical town centre tourist hotel which may be value for money at group travel rates, but is overpriced for individual travellers. I picked it because of walking distance to Vienna Rathaus where I had a dinner invitation that night. Separate charge for breakfast is unusual.

The location of the hotel was excellent. It was walking distance from all of the important attractions. But the hotel is definately not a five-star property. I would say it compared to a low four-star or possibly even a high three-star hotel. Even the bathroom products were skimpy and low quality.

A hotel with an very, very large breakfast table, nice personal, and a very good quality in restaurant. I can only recommend this hotel, in private as in business use.

Stayed in Vienna for a very nice long-weekend. Hotel De France is an OK+ hotel in a central area with friendly staff. We didn't stay much in the hotel, as we were out 'exploring' and drinking a fair amount of alcohol, coming back late. But overall, very positive - and yes: I'd come back. Two good tips: 1/ Visit the Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien. Wicked building. We saw the Peter Kogler exhibition. Probably one of the best contemporary exhibitions I've seen in a very long time. 2/ Check out the store of the Austrian fashion designer, just behind the Museum Square. A hotel to recommend. I would like to come back. Only drawback to mention is that the restaurant did not meet the expectation.

Many refurbished 4 Star Hotels in Vienna located on the same "Inner Ring" offer a much better quality/price relation than this old facient 5 Star Hotel. It appaers as if the hotel has not seen any investment since many years except for the painting. The breakfast room is looking horrible and only accesible by stair (beware if you are handicaped), the morning buffet is below 4 star standard (not only compared to other Vienna hotels), the cocktail bar has probably be added in the '7oth, ... The room was clean, more or less correctly equiped but the TV, a modell of the early '80th did not work, and according to the outlook of the screen, many guests already tried to make it working. There are of course although positive points like the location close to all the major attractions of Vienna (mainly all within walking distance), absolutely quiet rooms,... I would classify this hotel as a good 4 star hotel for American tourists not having stayed in real 5 star hotels befor. The low room rates reflect the real standard of the hotel and are not absolutely 'good buys'

We stayed at the Hotel DeFrance for 3 nights. We were totally impressed. They have the best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel and the room and service were outstanding. I feel like the value for the money was off the scale and I will definitley recommend this hotel to and your service to anyone.

This hotel was rated 5 stars. In my opinion, it was not. If it had been rated 3 stars, I would have not been disappointed.

We had only one small complaint which was that our room was non smoking but the next door room was not and the fact that there was an adjoining door meant that we had to put a towel along the door to stop the smoke coming in as it affects my husbands chest. This seemed to work fairly well but it does seem a little strange to put a smoking room next to a non smoking with a communicating door.

After the initial lack of service in the restaurant, we accepted the fact that the staff lacked professionalism. For a five star hotel, I would have expected more in the way of mannerisms and attitude which were all too casual and jokey.
