The facilities were satisfactory. The breakfast was OK. The same every day. But acceptable. The hotel is close to the south railway station in Vienna (about a 15 minute walk). I would stay there again. The only negative is that they do not turn on their outside hotel street sign. I had trouble finding the hotel when I arrived at night.

The hotel is the best in terms of price and best location to connect with the inner city. With this minimum price for 3 beds on the 3rd floor in spacious room and can access to subway U1 within 2 minutes, I think it's the best. I didn't get the offer of breakfast as beside the U1 station and there's a coffee shop that you can take away your fresh bread and coffee from there. That's save my time and give me opportunities to try on other coffee shop. The room decoration is simple and minimum, seem recently redecorated, clean bedsheets and towels. The only thing I dislike is the cigaret smoke I can smell when I down to pillow. Wifi can be connected at room. The map is less in specific landmark, should put more specific details, and more clear direction even in the google map still give confused spots. Not expect much of the hotel surrounding. Please be aware..this hotel accept cash only. The hotel manager is helpful and nice with the guests but quite contrary to his ignored manner at the first check in. With the earlier reason, I will recommend this hotel to my friends with awareness of some little annoyance.

unfortunately the reception staff was extremely rude and unwelcoming, as well as the entire entrance really smelling of very old smoke, these things led us to not really enjoy our stay, we had stayed many places all over and this was the worst. Not good value for money as not at all central, very noisy room due to being on a main road. Would not revisit. Would not reccomend

We stayed there in 2 double-bed rooms for 3 nights. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were clean, spacious, breakfast modest but tasty. Public transportation very close. This hotel is situated in a good area, close to the center. Overall very nice - We were looking for cheap accommodation not too far from the city centre, and got everything we wanted. I recommend it.

We were looking for cheap accommodation not too far from the city centre, and got everything we wanted. The staff was nice, the rooms were neat, the breakfast was not anything complicated but rather delicious. We didn't have any problems at all, the receptionist was always helpful. Even when we're better off, we're going to return to this place.

The room was ok for the price. The position of the Hotel is very good: not a "nice place" but close to the center and to the public transport. Somehow I didn't manage to connect my laptop to the Internet, but I was offered to use the computer at the reception. The hotel is good if you need to stay in Vienna for a short time and you don't want to spend a lot of money. If you need some really confortable room with nice bathroon and such things, you may look somewhere else.

This hotel is not located in a touristy area; there are adult stores and venues very close to the hotel. We stayed here the night before we left Vienna in order to be closer to the hotel and to save on money. If you can spare the extra Euros, stay somewhere in a more frequented/well lit area.

Not recommended at all. The price we had to pay was not the price we've seen when we reserved. They made us pay an higher price for the second night and it was not written when we reserved. At our arrival, the guy wrote down the price for the first day on a piece of paper. When we went to pay, he changed the price on the paper. We tried to argue, but the guy was laughing at us. After our return, I read on the net that they did that same thing to other people. They force you to pay in cash. The breakfest is crappy. The place smell cigarette everywhere. No air conditionning and we could not open the window because there was construction in the street. People screaming in the hotel woke us in the middle of the night. Since the reception is closed after 10 pm, there was nobody to warn of the excessive noise. If you want a nice stay, choose something else.

We stayed for 3 days. + Hotel was well located, near metro station. + Spacious rooms (we had a room which could easily fit two more people; an extra bed was there too) + clean bedsheets, towels and room. + worth the price we paid for. + staff was friendly and helpful. - Noisy as the room was facing the street. - Hotel/rooms need renovation as floors, curtains looked old. - some wierd smell was always present ( not strong though) - no drinking water was provided. Note - we were charged Euro 1 for keeping a one piece of luggage after we checked out (as we had ample time before heading for airport). I don't know if Euro 1 is charged per luggage or otherwise. This is a good budget hotel for people who simply want to come and sleep at night but noise from the street can disturb light sleepers like me.

This was the worst welcome in a hotel I have ever had. When we arrived there was no one around. Another group of people was also standing around, waiting to book in. After some knocking on doors and shouting down empty corridors a cleaning lady turned up who unfortunetely could not speak English but very kindly went to find someone to help. She went out the front door, across the street, round a corner and stayed away for about 10 minutes before a very scruffy looking, unshaven, slick-haired person arrived. He did not greet us, was not apologetic for his absence, he never smiled and was probably the most unfriendly person I have ever met. Not someone I would have employed to man a hotel reception - but then he didn't did he? The rooms was very big but the bathroom old and the new laminate flooring very poorly laid down. The furniture was also quite old. The cleaning lady did what she could though and it was reasonably clean. The rooms all face the noisy street and the corridor is dead quiet. The same unpleasant person booked us out and gave us a bill much higher than the quoted bill on the venere website. He only relented after a very long and frustrating conversation. We should really have paid less than the quote, it was that bad a place! I really liked Vienna itself though and just tried to spend the least amount of time possible in the hotel. If all the previous hotels we booked through venere wasn't so good and their reviews so accurate I would never have used this service again. This hotel is not worth more than a 2/10.

This hotel is perfect for the traveller who doesn't want to pay through the roof for a hotel room in Vienna, but still wants to be close to the metro. It helps if this person is trained in some form of martial arts, because you might need to use self defense walking to the metro though. Despite the receptionist confirming that the street noise woulnd't bother us, as special windows were used in the room to block out the noise, we could hear all street noises outside. This acted as our alarm clock in the early morning. So travellers who stay here don't have to worry about packing an alarm clock! Another plus! Also, it is best if you don't have any allergies to mold, as this can be found all over the shower. Enjoy your stay!

Despite booking 2 rooms, this is not what we were given. Arriving late at night the only rooms available appeared to be an adjoining apartment area with ONE toilet/shower available. The apartment itself was large with 6 beds in total, however it was right next to the main street and very, very noisy even into the early hours. The lack of curtain also meant bright lights from outside into the room. The other gripe i have is that on the day of departure there was no hot water to have a shower. The cold water was just too cold, so had to go with it. The price on the hotel of 39 Euros is very cheap for Vienna, but if you get offered room 20 - DON'T ACCEPT IT.

Hotel Birg-Cyrus was certainly great value for money, rooms were very spacious & clean & it's only a short walk to a train station. Our room didn't have A/C and there was a construction site next to us which was very loud & woke us up early. All in all though, we were really pleased with Birg-Cyrus and would definitly recommend it for budget accommodation.

NOT RECOMMENDED! Most photos are a lie, very poor breakfast, unfriendly and moody owner, the only staff around, poor cleaning. To start with, the owner didn't have my reservation, so in a very bad mood he sent us to a huge room for groups. After some complaint, he gave us 2 rooms -we were 7 people- with horrible toilets/shower room. Both rooms were very poorly cleaned, toilet very old, dirty and smelly, no telephone or wireless internet in rooms, not to mention the noise from the building site beside the hotel everyday from 6am. The reception closes at 10pm, not 24 hs as stated. Location OK, but very expensive for the quality and services provided. Wouldn't come back ever again!

Hotel Birg-Cyrus is really good if you are wanting to be close to the Südbahnhof Train Station. We did a lot of our travelling by train and found that this hotel was in a really nice location ie close to restaurants, pubs, shops. Extrememly easy area to get used to. This was our first stop overseas so we were a little hesitant as to what we would find but we were really impressed with the hotel - we were expecting quite a budget hotel but this was very good. Needs a bit of an upgrade but we weren't fussed about that!

First, I have to say that we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. We were given quite a large room looking not to the main room (a more or less silent one). We were received nicely and the room was quite warm always when we arrived in the evenings. We took breakfast one day in the hotel, which was quite convenient for the 3€ it costs. There not many things in the buffet, so we didn't repeat. The weakest point we experienced was the quality of the mattress. One of the days we could hardly walk after sleeping onto such uncomfortable surface with the springs sticking in your back. When we asked for a different mattress we were told that they could provide a new one, but no action was taken. Aside from this and the 1 euro they charged us to keep the luggage the last day, the experience was ok.

The rooms were very clean and spacious, if somewhat dated and worn. The location was very convenient, the subway was two blocs away in a large walking mall inhabited by working class locals. The breakfast was simple but filling and of good quality. Parking could be a problem, but we in fact had no difficulty getting a great spot near the entrance. In general, the quality vs price for this hotel was very good and we would definitely stay again.

I found the room in the Birg-Cyrus hotel very spaceous for its moderate price and immaculately clean, with a varnished wooden floor. The furniture was brand new and of excellent quality. Contrary to many two-star hotels, the bathroom had adequate space and was fitted with modern, efficient conveniences. Although situated in a major street, it is rather quiet at night. All-in all, very good value for money.

It never happened to me before that without asking I was hande a map of Vienna where the receptionist circuled the closest underground station and infomred me about the vicinity. The 3 Euro breakfast was excellent, with real juice, coffee and tea, 2 kinds of cold cuts and cheese plus prepacked marmelade etc. The bred was brought to the table but it was possible to ask for more. Good location, not far to main underground station 1 which leads to the center, excellent shopping possibilities on big shopping street. Part of the rooms used to be apartments thus very spacious and newly renovated.

Unfortunately the street was a bit too busy around the clock for our liking. The room was very spacious, the quality of the cleaning varied a lot from day to day. Our biggest disappointment was that the webpage said that breakfast was included but at the hotel they denied that. The cash only-policy by checkout also came as a chock on the morning of our departure. Luckily there was a bank nearby.

The rooms are really very spacious...however...it would be good if there is a mini kitchen (for boiling water)... the host is however very kind and we ask him for hot water a couple of times...

The room was dirty, had no soaps, also was not possible to pay by credit card (for 4 nights, that CAN be a problem).

Breakfast is not include despite appearing in the web and reservation confirmation as "include". Anyway, the breakfast is really poor and is better having It in other place. the rest of the staying was very good, nice room for the price offered and pretty good conected to the main places to visit in Vienna.

Not a good place; old and dirty, the hotel is in an area of Wien not safe during night.
