Some difficulty with using the Internet access on the computer in the lounge area as nobody knew how to operate it, but sorted out once a knowledgeable receptionist arrived the next day. Breakfast had a limited choice, less than typical of hotels of this standard. Most rooms overlook a courtyard at the rear and are quiet, although noise echoes around there. Description of how to get to hotel should also include using U-Bahn (walk from Zieglergasse stop) and the tram 49 which runs past the end of Bandgasse on Westbahnstrasse (stop Zieglergasse) as the hotel is actually at the bottom end of Bandgasse close to Seidengasse.

Very nice hotel. Cosy room and very guite by night. Good bed, slept like a baby! Very nice breakfast room, not so very abundant breakfast offer, but good enought. Very convenient and close to shopping streets and transport.

Very attractive old building with rooms around a charming central courtyard. My room had just been refurbished and was up to reasonable modern standards, although not entirely to my taste in colour-scheme. Located outside central area but in a very pleasant part of Vienna with very quick access to the centre via the nearby U-bahn stop. Good breakfast.

Excellent experience all around - we really couldn't fault this hotel. Lovely friendly woman at front desk who never hesitated to help us with our queries. Rooms were clean and comfortable, there is a lift and breakfast at €9 was good value.

Nice middle range hotel, friendly people, well located, very quiet but close to one of the main shopping area "Mariahilferstrasse" and just 20 minutes walk to the museum area (or 5 minutes U-Bahn).

Nice, quiet hotel close to shopping and metro. Good service and friendly staff. We will definitely choose this hotel again if we visit Wien again.

Old building of around 40+ rooms, nicely done up.Close to town. To access central Vienna,it's an easy walk to Westbahn Str.to take the No.49 tram, or down Ziegler Gsr.to Maria Hilfer Str(famous shopping area)for the U Bahn. There is a general supermarket close to the hotel. We enjoyed our stay.

Clean and satisfactory hotel within a few minutes walk of shops, restaurants and metro.

This is a perfectly fine hotel, but we felt it was overpriced for the amenities in comparison to other hotels in the same area. It it well placed within the city, and if you don't mind a little walking you can pretty much get everywhere from here. The breakfast is not worth the 9 euros it costs, so we would suggest finding a local cafe and go there instead. The staff was fairly nice, and most of them spoke English, too. Overall, it was "ok".

Quiet, tolerably clean, a bit dated. (The rooms are early seventies rather than "biedermeier".)A very basic breakfast, definitely too expensive. The lady serving it really should try to hide her impatience to see us gone.

I stayed here only one night in July. It was very warm weather and I had basically two issues with the hotel: absolutely no airconditioning and cleaness of the room. The room was "kind of clean" but still it felt better not to walk without shoes inside the room and not to touch anything. Room was small (but it didn't matter to me) and it had a tiny window. You coulnd't keep it open in the night because there is corridor just behind the door and window and anyone could come in from the window. Some people could also complain the lack of soundproofing pf the rooms, and the bed wasn't the softest and newest one.

5 minute walk to U-Bahn, Zieglerstrasse stop. Quiet, out of the way neighborhood. Competent, friendly, and helpful reception. Rooms small, but adequate. Beautiful courtyard area. Great value for the price.

Room to inner courtyard, acces for every room from the typical balcony-gallery. It has been very quiet, because "the guests were quiet" how said the owner. Breakfastroom new made(breakfast not included in the price), some rooms in restauration ( new floor in wood instead of the dusty carpetfloor, twinbeds - will be nice). The owners very gentle, open and interested in helping. Perhaps the "Biedermeier"of the publicity suggests more "Old" style - it's only the front-facade of the house and the way of having these kind of long balconies round the courtyard. The heating should be on when travellers arrive (very cold snowy weather). Good connections to the Underground (station Neubaugasse). We came to Vienna to see friends, so we were out most time, letting the car in the garage (reservation before arriving).

Charming place with courtyard.Very quiet and sparkling clean.Staff generous with time helping us book tour and taxi.Great location near tram and subway within 5 minute walk(From hotel turn left to end of block then left and that will take you to a intersection then turn right which takes you to subway stop.)At that intersection look for Cafe Ritter a wonderful old world cafe with great food well worth the stop 20 minutes walk to city center with lots to see on the way.

My problem with the stay was the staff. The day manager was fine, but the night people (who checked us out) were rude and un cooperative. We were told that the taxi to the airport would take credit cards and that there was a set price. When I inquired about it the couple at the desk said no credit cards. They said if you want to get a taxi, call one yourself. I would never recommend that hotel to anyone.

The bathroom is smaller than we thought. And the bedroom's rug was little dirty.
USA, Oct 2006
This hotel was easy to find from the train station. I was surprise to find there was no shower soap or shampoo offered. The staff was very courteous and provided very good directions. The night staff recommended a very good gasthaus just around the corner, very authenitic food and atmosphere, ask I can't remeber the name but very very good.

We found the staff very welcoming. The hotel was, however, overpriced for the facilities it provided. The room was small so that the door to the shower could not open fully and there was little room to put our clothes. The shower was shabby and in need or refurbishment. The breakfast was overpriced and inadequate and we were not informed that we could have had the room without breakfast. There was an attractive courtyard which was not used. Dissapointing!

This hotel was a little more worn that I had anticipated. Also, it is in a fairly quiet neighborhood. However, there is a tram right around the corner and it is a 5 minute ride to the inner city/tourist area/metro. It was serviceable, but not fantastic. I don't think I would want to be a single woman traveler there in the winter. But in the summer when it is light later or a couple are fine. Also, when checking out, realized that breakfast was optional, and thus, an additonal charge, yet I thought it was included when I made the reservation. Breakfast was OK, but I may have chosen to save the money and get coffee elsewhere if I had known.

We really valued the quietness of our courtyard room; we knew we would get a decent night's sleep - so important when you're busy all day sightseeing. My only quibble would be that there weren't enough curtain panels to cover the glass door and windows of our room. This wasn't a problem for us because it was winter, and therefore dark in the mornings. It would be a problem in summer. My email queries were answered promptly and efficiently. The hotel was only a short walk from the nearest underground station and it was quick and easy to get to the city centre. We would definitely stay here again.

A nice clean hotel with a good breakfast and helpful staff, about 10 - 15 mins walk from Museums Quarter and close to bars, shops and restuarants and Westbahnhof.

The hotel was MUCH better then what we've anticipated. Great location, marvelous interior, very friendly and helpful staff. The only "downfall" to our stay, was... the fact that we only stayed one night! We fell in love with Vienna, and definitely coming back for a longer stay. Am Brillantengrund would be our first choice.

Ideal for its quietness - we were so pleased to hear no noise at all as Vienna is a busy city. 10 min journey by metro to the centre, near to main shopping street. Good breakfast, good coffee

I deliberatly picked this hotel as we had stayed there last year in 2003. It is resonable and well located, as well as clean and charming.
