Very good atmosphere of old Vienna. Lobby was full of flowers with spring smell. Breakfast was quite good. Personnel was very kind and helpful. Thank you. Not far from metro and Westbahnhof, and the most important - very good shopping area in neighborhood. I'll recommend your hotel to my friends.

A super, clean hotel with highly welcoming and competent staff. The rooms are spatious, the bathroom was enourmous, with giant mirrors, yes, it was not cheap but it was definitely worth it. Excellent breakfast, too, close to the metro station.

I found the hotel very good in every respect;breakfast and location were excellent:few minutes to both subway and trams to downtown, main train station (Westbahnhof) and the bus terminal for travel to south, west and east, which for me was most important as I also visited Hungary(by train)and Lower Austria (by bus); service, assistance rendered by staff were excellent nothing was too much trouble(needed help in understanding mobile 'phone bought in Austria which was painstakingly explained by one of the staff !).

I had a single room for one night, the helpful staff let me check in early and held my luggage after I checked out. There is a really good kebab shop around the corner. The hotel is one minute walk from the U-Bahn.

The first time we got a quad room and that was really spacious and value for money. But in our next visit we got a smaller room which was more expensive though. But nevertheless, this hotel is very good, excellent staff and located just opposite the train station Grumpondor (U6 line). I would recommend this hotel to all without any hesitation. They have lovely staff especially Mellanie who helped us with the direcations and suggestions.

The positive points are: position really very near the underground station and at the same time very silent, competence and kindness of the staff (it has been a facility for us that one of them speaks italian), the excellent breakfast; the negative ones are furniture and textiles, definitely old, and curtains that seem to need a wash up. More, it is not possible by the web site to understand that breakfast isn't included in the price; as a compensation, children pay half price for it.

As a family who travels extensively the family room provided was huge compared to many other hotels. Although an issue arose the staff quickly handled the problem in a professional manner in order to sort it out. The buffet breakfast was extensive and was a great way to start the day. Well located to the subway it was within easy commute to most of the major attractions. I would not hesitate to use this hotel again.

Although a little out of the center the underground was just yards away from the hotel We stayed in one of the suites which was excellent plenty of space, seating and tables. Very clean and with unobtrusive service. The breakfast was excellent We would reccomend and certainly use again if we return to Vienna. Only two small negative points 1.Not enough English language channels on the TV,s. 2. No In room drink making facilities.

We are a family of five--this room was large --two big rooms. The bathroom was beautiful--looked completely new and spacious. We were about a one minute walk to the subway which took us to the central part of Vienna (which took about 10 minutes). There were also restaurants to choose from in the area--we would recommend this to others.

Excellent family room and lovely breakfast (including bucks fizz or sparkling cider to go with the smoked salmon and cream cheese + cook your own bacon and eggs. We stayed two extra nights. Easy access to U-bahn and trams. Staff helpful in recommending local restaurants. Cost was Eu119 for 3 adults - more than we usually pay but well worth it.

We booked the suite, which turned out to be just a large bedroom, king bed, two arm chairs and table, desk with chair. Attached was a small single bedroom with a couch in it. The couch needed to be in the large bedroom where the TV was. Bathroom was new and nice. Rooms were spotless. But the floors creaked, squeaked and crumbled with every step, there was absolutely no place to step that didn't squeaked. They put the thin carpet right over the broken wood floor. Funny at first, terribly annoying within an hour or so. Maddening by the time we checked out. Staff was friendly and helpful. Computer available in lobby, no internet in rooms.

Very hospitable staff. Subway station nearby. Good price in hotel. Very easy to find by car. It is an old hotel and you do not have to expect some luxury, but if you need a descent place to sleep for reasonble price and not to far away from the downtown, this hotel can be your choice.

Not exactly in the middle of the city, but very accessible by public transport. Spacious clean rooms and facilities. Helpful staff, nice restaurant. We were in a 3 bed suite, but the 3rd bed was basically a rolled out sofa. But good deal for the < 100 euros

Ottima qualita'/prezzo! Ritorneremo comunque in futuro...

The hotel's restaurant is now closed, permanently. Only the breakfast room is open (and only for breakfast). The neighborhood is not good at night, although it's fine in the daytime. At night, there were far too many streetwalkers to suit me. I feel sorry for the hotel, actually. The rooms are huge and the building is beautiful. It will either find someone to operate the restaurant, again, and get back on track, or it could succumb to the neighborhood and turn into a place that rents rooms by the hour. In this economy, anything could happen.

Nice hotel, located very close to a metro station and within some 10 minutes' walk to the Westbahnhof. A bit far, though, if one takes a walk to the Mariahilfestrasse (which was crucial to my wife) - some 20 minutes' walk to reach the main shopping area.

Very convenient for Westbahnhof, U-Bahn and trams. My room was surprisingly quiet in view of proximity to busy ring road and overlooked a pleasant garden. The street entrance gives no idea how nice it is inside. Not particularly close to landmarks, but the Vienna public transport system is so good that this doesn't matter.

We were thrilled to be in a spacious suite decorated with antique furniture. The bathroom was amazing - jetted shower and biggest tub I've seen (hot water didn't last to fill it up. Breakfast was nice - including bacon and eggs you could cook yourself, juices, sparkling wine in nice garden-like inner courtyard. It was close to Westbanhof station and we mastered the subway quickly to get around to the sights.

We had a great stay at the Altwienerhof. The hotel is very individual and charming. Our family room was absolutely huge, well furnished and very clean, with a nice spacious bathroom with both shower and bath. The reception staff were exceptionally helpful and pleasant, able to answer (in perfect English) all our queries about public transport, sightseeing etc. The buffet breakfast offered lots of choice, from continental to bacon and eggs (cook your own) and even Bucks Fizz and smoked salmon. The pretty little courtyard garden is great for an evening glass of wine, or for breakfast outside if you prefer. The hotel is not in the nicest part of town (although it is fine) but is incredibly convenient with a bus stop and tube station (Gumperdorfstrasse) very close to take you into the historic centre very quickly. A very nice hotel which I would definitely recommend.

The breakfast is fantastic and served in the most elegant of rooms. The rooms are a bit dated, but are clean and well-kept. It was an excellent weekend. We had requested a quiet room for two persons and we got a very comfortable suite for the same price. The welcome was very friendly and we got any information we needed. The breakfast was ok, but you have to take it early, because between 9 h and 10 h sometimes it was difficult to get a place without waiting. The meal we took in the restaurant was good with an excellent service. The interieur of the hotel is romantic in "Wiener Jugendstil". In the summer it must be very fine to take the breakfast in the garden of the hotel. The Metro-Station was near by the hotel. We didn't need the car anytime.

The room was very big and comfortable, the bathroom was really beautifull. They have to change some old things, as carpets and they have to remake the part of breakfast room (the one that is for the spring and summer). All this, is a beautifull breakfast room, but it is old and abandoned. Even the garden of it. The breakfast buffet was very good and the food also was great. The location was very convinient, very close to train station.

Room was very small and I could feel the springs in the matress; very uncomfortable. The room was off of a main street and therefore quite noisy during the day and at night from passing vehicles. I ate at the hotel restaraunt my first night; the meal was relatively expensive but excellent. The hotel did have better rooms but all the singles appear to be very small and not well equiped. On my return to Vienna to catch my flight back to the US I stayed at Pension FÜNFHAUS (1150, Sperrgasse 12). The rooms were large and bright and the bedding confortable although very firm. The bathroom was well proportioned. Being a Pension there were no luxuries but all in all a much better value.

Very good position for WestBanhof and Mariahilferstrasse (Gumpendorfer station within 200mt). My single room was very very tiny, with no space at all around the bed, even if very quiet with windows on the garden. Breakfast very rich served in the nice winter garden. 89 euros for that room was really too much and no real photos about single rooms were provided on web: so, here are a couple!

I could mot use the shower in my room and i have been just told sorry, but use the one on the floor...i mean one could suggest 5 euros less or just a sentence (sorry we don't have another room, so would you be so kind as to use the shower on the floor) and the worst thing happened in the end. my suitcase got broken on the flight to vienna, so i bought a new one. when i checked out i left my new suitcase in the lodge and asked if it would be possible for the hotel to throw the broken one away. no problem i have been told first (i mean where should i throw my suitcase away? the ordinary litters are a bit small...;))later i returned to fetch my new suitcase and then i am told to take the old one with me or pay 10 euros...i was just shocked, i mean i stayed there 6 nights...is that service? sorry? do i expect too much!?they should have the means to throw it away a lot more easier than me!?? i would not stay there again, sorry! no way! the hotel location, the breakfast was perfect but some some small things really missed (no hair dryer, SERVICE)

Pros: Very close to U-bahn, Good furnitures, Breakfast was tasty enough. Cons: Depending on the room, could not connect to the internet (I reserved two rooms, 1 room had that, but other didn't). The hotel was ok, but they had our reservation changed around to saying we had 2 adults and 2 children in their "family room" instead of the 4 adults I put down and thus had a double bed and two single beds that had no space to be adjoined- much to the dismay of my husband and myself. Overall the stay was nice, but I warn against using their parking garage because it was expensive and we couldn't even park there one night because someone had walked away with their garage door opener. Also if you want internet be sure to ask to stay in the old wing because none of the new wing has internet even though all the employees thought it was something we did wrong to not get internet. If looking for a no frills hotel that is very quick to get on the subway this is it- the breakfast is also very good.

But the reception is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is servived in the garden, so it is a plus to this hotel. If you just want to find a place to sleep, this is a good choice.

I reserved a family room and it was spacious and quiet. Good breakfast. The hotel is not in the center of Vienna but a metro station is close to the property (100m). Very easy to reach the facility by car.

Very nice hotel with excelent breakfast / evening meal facilities. Very good value for money being slightly further from the centre but within 50m of metro train and tram facilities with very efficient public transport facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet location with nice garden.

As far as European hotel rooms go, this one was very large (we had a suite) and had a large soaking tub (which was a nice surprise). The hotel is old and looks old. The neighborhood of the hotel wasn't great, but it was across the street from the subway and allowed us to travel all over without difficulty. We had no problems and there were several places to eat close by. The hotel staff was excellent and very helpful with directions, suggestions, and even made us a light breakfast for our extremely early flight, which was far earlier than they would have prepared for normally. Overall, the hotel was great. It may be just a little bit expensive for the neighborhood, but the large room, bathtub, and staff made up for any harsh feelings we had about the money.

The hotel is very old.. They say it was renovated lately.. I would like to see how it was before but now, the carpet in the halls and in the room are cut, opened old, very used. My single room was very very small, so small I could turn around with a medium size luggage. The buffet for breakfast was ok, the people serving and helping were nice and polite. In the service's description of the hotel on Venere, they say they have airport and train station shuttle... Don't try to find them.. there is none... I even called before from Prague to tell them I would arrived by train the next day but they laughed and said I had to take a taxi because there wasn't any shuttle. False publicity?? at least, wrong information.

I absolutely loved this hotel. It was soooo charming. Internet service available, Ubahn station nearby - took about three or four minutes to get downtown; staff wonderful.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 16-year old son in August. We had a triple room, which was very spacious, with a separate room for my son. My complaints are the beds, which were very hard and uncomfortable, with the springs poking into your body at night, no air conditioning, which meant that it was stuffy in the room, and the very noisy traffic, which could be heard from the room. The breakfast buffet was quite good, but the room was too small for the number of guests at the hotel. When I asked for cappuccino, I got espresso with whipped cream (is the the Viennese version?) I would not stay at this hotel again.

Hotel staff was exceptionally good to us. They arranged for a shuttle to take us from the airport directly to the hotel. When we arrived at night, my wife unexpectedly needed prescription medications. The front desk clerk located the nearest all-night pharmacy, gave us detailed instructions, and even offered to escort us there if necessary (it wasn't...pharmacy was only a few blocks away and his instructions were clear). Another clerk assisted us in finding the best place to change dollars to Euros. Breakfast was fine and in a charming room. We didn't try dinner at the hotel's restaurant, but the menu looked good and it looked popular...probably would have been fine. Location is on a quiet side street, but only drawback is that the hotel is outside of the main "ring" area. The neighborhood didn't have a lot of attractions, but seemed perfectly safe. We had a great first night dinner (schnitzel, ribs, dumplings) in a nearby bar. Despite this small drawback, the hotel is very close to Westbanhof (easy 5-min walk) (train and U-bahn) and less than a minute's walk from an S-bahn station so no problem getting to St. Stephan's or anywhere within a few minutes. All in all, a charming place, would certainly be more than willing to go there again. They were expecting us, had a third bed all set before our arrival (in USA, even the best hotels often fail to do this. Rate was consistent with what we paid in other cities we visited, and was exactly as agreed in Venere.

The hotel was ok some areas. I it also might need some renovations. The staff was great. As for the location, was a little bit far from the Opera area where all the fun and night lift is. The shops are a 7 minute walk from the hotel, but was not my kind of shops. If brand names you fancy, then the opera is the place. I was shocked for the fact that they did not have a baggage handler. I think that the picutres on the website should be changed because I never saw the torn chairs arm rest. The bathroom looked nothing like the picture on the web. I think the renovations were made for the lobby only.
