exterior Villa Campestri is located 35 km North from Florence. It is a splendid renaissance house in a particularly beautiful position, set on a hillside at 450 metres above sea level and facing across the Mugello valley and the Chianti Rufina area. The Villa is surrounded by lawns, ancient olive trees and shady oak and chestnut woods. "L'Olivaia" Restaurant offers specialities of Tuscan cuisine accompanied by the finest local and Italian wines. In the cellars of the Villa the first ‘Oleoteca’ in Italy has been created, where we organize extra-virgin oil tasting courses with tours of the oil press for those interested in learning about the oil production process.
The first records of the Villa date from the 13th century. At that time the nucleus of the Villa was a small defensive fortress protected by watchtowers, the remains of which can still be seen today. An important architectural intervention, which gave the building its present appearance as a renaissance Villa, took place in the late 17th century.
The noble Florentine Roti Michelozzi family held ownership of the Villa and the surrounding lands for nearly 700 years until 1989, when they sold the entire Campestri property to the present owner, Paolo Pasquali. The restoration work undertaken by its new owner has kept its charm intact. Key architectural and structural features have been maintained, and the Villa has been painstakingly restored to its former glory using original materials such as antique terracotta floor tiles, original plaster, polychromatic caissoned wooden ceilings and old carved oak beams.

suite Villa Campestri has 22 guest rooms characterized by harmonious attention to detail. The Villa has kept its ancient charm and history as a result of careful restoration and decoration using vintage and antique furniture. Nineteenth-century light fittings, paintings and prints create an atmosphere which is both welcoming and elegant.
The original layout of the villa has been preserved and the bedrooms are located where they were in the renaissance period: some in the villa itself, and others in the adjoining farmhouse and the old dairyhouse opposite. They offer wonderful views of the surrounding parkland.
The suites consist of a sitting room with settees and a double bedroom. One of the suites boasts a magnificent 18th century four-poster bed.
The junior suites are spacious bedrooms with a little sitting room, providing our guests with extra comfort.
The apartments contain a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a bathroom.
All rooms have telephones with external line, minibar, satellite TV and heating in the winter months.
Bathrooms have a bathtub or shower, hairdryer, vanity mirror, a complimentary set of beauty products and comfortable slippers.

How to reach Hotel Relais Villa Campestri

By car
From: North (Bologna, Milan...)
Take A1 towards Bologna - Firenze. After Bologna drive about 60 km and take the Barberino di Mugello exit (before Florence).
At the first junction turn left towards Borgo San Lorenzo. You will pass on a lake and a dike. One km after the dike, you will pass the Cafaggiolo Castle on your right. After the Castle, there is a junction: remain on the right until you will find the roundabout: here you have to take the second on the right signposted Faentina, Borgo S. Lorenzo. After the tunnel follow the signs to Via Faentina.
You will find another roundabout: keep the right and you will arrive to the cross with Firenze-Via Faentina (on the right) and Borgo San Lorenzo (on the left). Turn left, signposted Borgo S. Lorenzo, Vicchio. Turn right at sign post for Sagginale, Vicchio. Pass through Sagginale and after 2 km turn right signposted Cistio, Campestri, Arliano. Keep to the right as you go straight through Cistio and Lastricata. Few hundreds meters later you will find the gate of the Villa in front of you.

From: South (Rome, Naples...)
Take the A1 direction Nord (Bologna), the exit is Incisa Valdarno. From here take the main road nr 69 direction Rignano-Pontassieve and follow the road for about 15 Km till a fork where you will find indications to Rufina, here turn right and go straight on direction Rufina-Dicomano-Vicchio. Pass the village of Dicomano follow the indications for Vicchio. Keep always the main road-don't turn for "Viccho centro". Once in the ring road of Vicchio, turn left to a level-crossing direction Ponte a Vicchio-Campestri. After the bridge turn right, go on for about 2 Km and then turn to the second road on your left, where there are indications to Campestri-Cistio-Arliano. Go on for 3 Km keeping the right and, after the curves of Lastricata, you will find Campestri.
