Hotel Katy - Viareggio

We recently spent a week at Hotel Katy. We found the staff very welcoming, helpful and friendly throughout our visit. Hotel was spotlessly clean and breakfast was good. Would definitely recommend the hotel.

We had a lovely time in hotel katy. We booked a room with balcony, the room was very spacious and luxurous. The breakfast served was splendid with the best scrambled eggs ever! A recommendation for anyone who wants to vistit Viareggio.

Hotel Katy is a real find, and I'd like to give it the highest rating possible. The couple who run it, Paolo and Geose, do so with pride and care, showing hospitality & willingness to help make my trip doable as a solo traveler with no Italian language. I wanted to do trips to Lucca, Carrara, Pietrasanta and the Cinque Terre using Katy as base; and each day they printed up the transportation schedules and pointed the way to the departure points. I have to say something about the breakfasts - steaming cappuccino, homemade tortes and scrambled eggs with prosciuto, juice, fresh fruit, fresh brioche (sweet croissants)... I also have to say that the location is sublime - one block walking and you're at a promenade by the sea, surrounded by grand wedding-cake hotels. This is the Italian Riviera, but with a price within my budget. I can't recommend this find strongly enough. Bring a bathing suit, they have a reciprocal arrangement with the nearby beach club, and they'll give you a beach towel and you can stay on til sun sets over the Ligurian Sea. Three stars and more.

Family run very cosy and very friendly hotel. The administration of the hotel was very helpful at all times with valuable piece of advice ready for all kinds of situations such as intention to visit Cinque Terre or Florence or looking for a nice wine shop in Viareggio etc. Rooms were very comfortable, clean and tidy. Excellent place to base a trip around Tuscany (Luca, Pisa, Florence etc.) + Cinque Terre.

I travelled with my husband and we stayed on a B&B basis for 10 nights - a varied choice at breakfast and plenty of coffee provided to suit our taste. We used the buses and trains extensively and the hotel proprietor was more than helpful in providing us with information.The beach location was only a short walk away.

Very helpful staff, pretty rooms, fairly standard breakfast with an Italian touch. The hotel is situated a block away from the noisy main road - still the beach is within an easy walking distance. Of the two beaches nearest to the hotel we recommend the "La Pace" as staff is much nicer and you can bargain on the price (with a mininal Italian knowledge, of course). It also has a swimming pool filled with filtered seawater.

We liked our one week stay at Katy very much and recommend it strongly. The staff is very friendly and the hotel comfortable and nice.

Hotel Katy was excellent, newly refurbished and well kept. The owners were always on hand and could not have been more helpfull.
