It was our first stay in Viareggio and at the Esplanade Hotel. It was great to be so close to the passaggiata. We were a little disappointed that the room had a poor view onto the courtyard. When I asked at the reception I was told all rooms with queen bed are located on the inside - which I don't think is true... Alex

We had a flat for the two weeks in Viareggio. We hope to go back when the Euro is better for USA visitors. We have been to Viareggio for the last three summers and the hotel is one of the best!

Hotel Esplanade was an excellent choice for our holiday, the staff were delightful and so helpful. The rooms were first class with clean linen every day, the only problem was perhaps the rooms could do with a little more soundproofing but this did not spoil our stay. We would highly recommend this hotel. The resturant Garibolino is fantastic, the best in Viareggio, this is a fish restuarant with delightful home made dishes. I cannot remember the address but it is located at the harbour end of the street behind the main shopping area in Viareggio town,you must find it and enjoy!!!

this is the place for a relaxed holiday, local transport is cheap and easy, we went to Pisa(10 euros return for both of us(trip was 42 each)) florence for 24 euros return for both of us and Lucca for 10 return for both. Both trips were lots more but obviously you had a guide as well but the trips I saw were marched everywhere... transfer to the hotel is easy get bus tickets from inside the airport(2.5 euros each) and he'll tell you which bus and where and ask to be let off at the Principe Di Piemonte , the hotel is just behind you! Most beaches you pay for but you can walk along the waters edge.

By car
From the Motorway A12 exit at Viareggio and drive on the same road following the signs to Viareggio Nord Quartiere Marco Polo. At the stop, turn right in Viale Marco Polo and proceed until Piazza Puccini. The Esplanade hotel is located at the number 18.
