About Hotel Trieste

exterior - entrance Hotel Trieste exterior - entrance A welcoming hotel enjoying a strategic location in Verona, hotel Trieste overlooks a beautiful tree-lined boulevard and lies only 300 metres from the famous Arena di Verona square, the very heart of the historical centre and an ideal starting point to visit the city of Romeo and Juliet.

Furthermore, the hotel is in the immediate vicinity of the fairgrounds, the justice court, the hospital, and various congress centres. Shopping enthusiasts will appreciate the adjacent via Mazzini and Corso Portoni Borsari streets.

If you are coming by car, the hotel features an underground private garage with direct access to the hall by lift. Hotel Trieste is a small and cosy property, boasting airy, brightly-lit common areas, particularly seducing by night, when the atmosphere becomes warm and enveloping. You will start your day with a healthy breakfast, served in the luminous breakfast room, and end it in the cosy hotel lobby, sipping one of the excellent local wines.

lovely place. The breakfast was delicious. This is not a 3 star hotel, but in my opinion a 4 star hotel. Very close to the Arena and the center of the town, easy and pleasant walking location, near the best shops of Verona.

This was excellent value for the cost. Convenient for the train station & an easy walk to central Verona. The staff were helpful & friendly, despite our poor & limited Italian. The breakfast was very good &, in fact, was superior to the 4* hotel we stayed at in Milano. We stayed 5 nights & would definitely return if in Verona in the future.

This hotel is really not a "3-star" hotel when comparing with other same class hotels we stayed before. The room looked old and shabby. The wall is so thin that we could hear the noise and talk in the adjacent room. There're many cracks in the bathroom tiles and shower tub, not to mention the dirty marks. Whenever we turned on the tap, there'll be an annoying loud noise. While the young girl at reception at daytime was quite friendly and helpful, the night staff at the reception was very rude and unfriendly (perhaps because we had disturbed him from watching TV). All in all, we consider that this hotel was not worth as "3-star" hotel and definitely not value for the room rate at 109 euro. We would not recommend this hotel to any other travellers.

Great location in the heart of Verona, but expensive for the quality. Very bad noise insulation from the street. Some very noisy piping problems kept us awake for a couple of hours, but it was fortunately fixed after telling the reception. Friendly staff (apart from the grumpy receptionist in the evening who did not help much with pipes noise, solved by the night receptionist). They have their own car park, which is very convenient.

My main complaint, which is no fault of the hotel, is that we were kept awake by a screaming baby in the next room. Walls are VERY thin, we could hear everything going on next door.

We loved Verona and wish we had planned to stay longer. The Hotel Trieste was lovely, but the room was very small and we could hear the child in the room next door. The front desk staff was helpful in suggesting restaurants, etc. From the hotel it is a short walk into the main piazza.

Hotel Trieste is just as it looked in the photographs. I went with my mother and sister for a birthday treat to the opera. We stayed in a standard room and it was incredibly spacious. Very simply decorated but just what you need. Although the hotel is on a busy road you can't hear it and it is literally a 5 minute walk to the Arena. Absolutely fantastic.

Stayed for just one night. Great location just outside the old town of Verona. An easy stroll to the Arena. The garage was a real bonus as parking is difficult to find unless you know your way around the back streets. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The room, modern and clean. Comfy longe area near the entrance with wi-fi. Calm breakfast room with a lovely continental buffet on offer. Would stay again.

We journeyed to Verona to see the opera Aida in the outdoor amphitheatre. It was excellent though rain shortened. We stayed at the Trieste because it was close to the amphitheatre and the old city. If you are planning to stay at the Trieste be sure to ask for a renovated room. They are much bigger and more modern than those not yet renovated. The staff are great.

As we were driving this was an easy hotel to find once we were off the motorway. Parking underneath so no problem. The room and bathroom small but that is not a real issue for us. It was a very easy walk into the old town and it was close to the open bus tour which we did as we only spent a day in Verona. Breakfast was fine and we had our best meal in Italy in Verona just behind Piazza dei Signori (we think). Anyway we ate outside and the restaurant was called La Locanda de Capitani.

The distance from the train station to the hotel was too much. Directions were sketchy....it was way too far for two senior citizens and the streets were way too busy. We arrived stressed and drained. The hotel location however was great....near the historical center. The hotel was charming, the personnel very accommodating. The room was very nice with a pleasant decor. Bed was comfortable, bath was spotless. However bath does need some place for toiletries to be stored and more hooks for clothing. Breakfast was more than enough, many choices and delicious pastries/breads. Bought wine at bar to take to room. It was a good price and very good. We had a 515AM departure for the airport and so got no breakfast. I would like to have had something to take with us or a slight refund since we couldn't take advantage of the included meal. It wasn't offered however. We would stay there again if we ever return to Verona.

The hotel is in an excellent location on the main route between the railway station and the centre of the old town. We were given an attic room with a very pleasant atmosphere. The room was spacious and there were extras like a heated towel rack in the bathroom. The breakfast was very good and the staff were very efficient and friendly. To make it perfect we would have liked to have had an internet terminal in the lobby. We will choose this hotel again, next time we are visiting Verona.

The hotel was in a good location. The rooms were a bit spartan due to the modern/boutique design such as no bedside table lamps for reading but potlights in the ceiling.Would not reccomend for handicap persons as you have to climb 3 steps to reach the main floor elevator. It was OK given it was Verona in August.

We've stayed at the Trieste before and can't beat it for position between the arena and the train station. It seems to be always full and we were delighted to find space at relatively short notice during the arena festival period. The hotel has had a serious refurb since our last stay! We had a huge room, newly fitted shower. Only minor niggle a teeny TV which would have been fine in an average sized room but invisible from the bed in ours! No problem, not there to watch tv so no English channels wasn't a negative either. Splendid air-con, which I don't recall from last time. We also had a balcony. Breakfast was fine. Very cosmopolitan, little English spoken but fab cheeses and local ham. Very helpful staff on reception and breakfast. They were happy to let us keep the room for a while to fit with our flight schedule. We'll return. If we can find a space. Always confused on star ratings in Italy. Trieste ranks 2. I've stayed in worse ranked 4!!

Overall, this was a nice hotel with good service. For some reason, we were given a smoking room when we had requested non-smoking. We did not have time to ask to change it as we had an engagement to get to. The room itself was clean but there was a light remainder of smoke, and right outside the door of our room, it smelled smokey. We would return here ONLY if the hotel guaranteed a non-smoking room and we got there and it actually was one.

It's in a great location really near everything and the hotel staff were friendly and I was very happy with the hotel. My only concern was one of the male receptionists. He got most offended that I didn't fancy him and as he had taken great effort to find out my name and age from my passport he got quite abusive towards me when I turned him down. Apart from him it was good. Female travellers beware....

This is a lovely hotel close to the arena and the old town. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we were lucky eonough to be upgraded to one of their delux rooms, aida. This room was very nice although the lack of a view was disappointing, the room was in the attic and only had velux windows. As we were in Verona to see Aida at the arena we thought it was fate! I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for something close to the sights of Verona.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Trieste. The room was minuscule but it worked for me as a person travelling on my own. It was very comfortable and clean, the shower had good water pressure and the window opened - all important considerations for me. The morning breakfast was a very nice selection of fruits, yogurts, cereals, brioches, cold meats and cheeses. This hotel is a gem. We could not believe it only has 2 stars. It is in an excellent location, just a stroll from the arena and old town. Granted our room overlooked a busy road so could be noisy at peak times but with the windows shut we couldn't hear a thing.Air con worked well so heat not an issue. We had a balcony and thoroughly enjoyed being able to sit out and enjot the view. The staff was excellent. The receptionist gave us a run down of all the sights and several useful maps without even being asked. Breakfast was excellent, they actually knew how to make decent tea! Highly recommended.

I was very pleased to visit Hotel Trieste and the staff gave good advice and the hotel, its class, services and its surroundings were as described in venere.com pages. We were traveling party of 5 people (2 kids)and had two deluxe rooms. Check-in went fine and everything (babycot, bigger rooms) was prepared for us according to our wishes. It was very warm but air conditioning worked fine. The view from courtyard rooms are far from spectacular but that was known thanks to venere.com pages. The only minor setback was that on the 9th of July there was massive footbal celebration in Verona and the noise could be heard in the streetside room even on the fifth floor(which on the other hand had a good view). But I guess Italy doesn't win football World championships every day:)Gongratulations Italy!

The rooms were clean and the location was brillant and thats all that was really good about this place. The rooms are very small and the price you pay you really don't get the mod cons you expect. You are waken up by the nose of the lift. The staff are not very warm and friendly, like we experienced in other hotels in other parts of Italy. I think the price you pay you can find a better more modern and pleasant hotel elsewhere in verona.

The hotel is only about 150metres from the arena, breakfast was a good continental buffet and there is a good self service restaurant in the Piazza Bra oposite the arena.

This was one of the best hotels, if not THE best, we stayed in while visiting Italy. The rooms were among the biggest we had, with a little balcony overlooking the main street that leads downtown. The rooms were clean and well-kept and well-furnished. Bathroom was spacious and also very clean. The lobby was very pretty with a very courteous and helpful staff. It also has a bar, which we never had a chance to try, but we took a look at the menu and the prices were ultra cheap. Breakfast was also among the best we had - pastries, coffee, tea, juice, meats/cheese, yogurt, and some fruit. The breakfast staff were extremely polite and attentive, and paid very careful attention to detail. Location is extremely good, being midway between train station and downtown (about 7 mins walk in either direction). Only one slight complaint: our shower leaked a lot of water onto the floor, but we found that a lot of showers in Italy do this. For Italian standards, where you often pay a lot and get a little, this was a great bargain to get. Trieste has the charm of a boutique hotel with great service, so you really feel like you are staying at a more expensive hotel. Would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone.

Excellent hotel - thoroughly enjoyed my staff and a more than adequate breakfast. The staff spoke English and German and were most helpful, letting me leave my suitcases after checking out, as my flight wasn't until the evening. Easy access to the Arena and sights of Verona and not too far from the station.

The main advantage of this hotel is the central location. We had a pleasant stay, the Hotel Trieste is really a good two-star hotel. The buffet breakfast is also relatively good, but of course, it can not compare to a breakfast of a three-star hotel. Nice to have a free minibar, however it contains only two bottles of mineral water and two bottles of juice. All in all our room with a huge balcony and flowers was really pleasant. There were only some minor shortfalls, e.g. there was no hair-dryer. The noise was sometimes unpleasant because of the thin walls, but usually it was not so disturbing.

This hotel is much grander than it looks on the photograph and is superbly located, less than five minutes walk from Piazza Bra and the Arena, and fifteen from the railway station/bus terminus of Porta Nuova. It has a very comfortable, spacious and splendid lobby. My wife and I had booked a double superior room but I have to say it wasn't much larger than most of the rooms we had in other hotels we had stayed in and I couldn't get the air conditioning to cool the room even though it sounded as if it were working. Also it looked as though it had recently been refurbished but not much attention had been given to the quality of the finish. But at least it had a proper double bed instead of two singles joined together which seems to be the norm.It was a pity the gentleman on reception when we checked out hadn't attended lessons at charm school,I almost felt guilty about paying my bill. Apart from that it was a very pleasant hotel and perhaps I am being a bit critical because of the extremely good standards of the other 2 and 3 star hotels we stayed in during our Italian holiday. Breakfast was good and plenty of it.

Nice hotel located very conveniently in walking distance to everything. Breakfast was excellent! Street noise was, however, a bit disturbing, next time we will try to get a room to the back.

The only thing we have to complain about was the size of the bathroom. People of 5 feet length or more had serious difficulty to use the toilette. The legs had to placed into the showertub. Very uncomfortable and actually not in accordance with a hotel of this standard. Welcoming was exceptionell. Water was offered and provided in view of the heat. A map of the city was provided without having asked for it and sights and distances indicated.

Room was very nice, with a beautiful view of the city. The man at the front desk was very helpful, and even called our hotel in Venice to get directions for us. Breakfast had a good variety compared to other places. Very good location between town and the train station. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Verona!

Very good hotel, located on the main strip in Verona near to all the main sights. Also only a 10 minute walk from the bus/train station (allthough the venere map is slighty faulty, probably due to scale-the 1st junction after the station, don't go left...continue on to the next one and there you'll see the busy main street) We asked for a room at the back of the hotel following on from advice given by previous guests. We found the room to be quiet with the only traffic the odd bit of coming and going into a car park at the back of the hotel. Staff were very helpful and gave us maps, advice etc on arrival.Good breakfast also. Verona is a beautiful city - just remember there's no opera on in the amphitheatre all year round-just june/july/august. There's not a lot of night life in the city, so it's quiet enough after dark. I reckon 2 days tops will let you see all you want - or even a day trip if your staying at Lake Garda might suffice. But all said and done, it's well worth checking out.

Nice hotel well located in central Verons. Good breakfast. Very limited knowledge in English by reception clerk. Somewhat difficult to find due to lack of steet signs. Some distrubing traffic noise.

Its a nice hotel between the rail station and the historical city. I was surprised from the breakfast. It was verry good for a two star hotel.

Good location, within the old city walls, close to the Arena (5 minutes walking). The room was nothing special, very small bathroom. At least it was clean.

We received a very warm welcome when we arrived at Hotel Trieste. The reception clerk offered us something to drink as our room would be ready in 5 minutes. Then he gave us a map of Verona and highlighted the areas that were most interesting to visit. If we were to return to Verona, we would most definitely stay at Hotel Trieste.

Nice hotel with perfect location just between the railway station and the city centre (10 minutes walk in either direction). I was surprised by the friendly welcome from the man at the front desk when i arrived! Travelling around in Italy I had learned that most people speak poor english, but this guy was great and gave me a map, pointed out all tourist attractions and even gave me a lesson in the history of Verona! Not all of the staff spoke english but were always very friendly and helpful! Nice and clean room with TV and free mini bar. A minus though to that the AC wasn't working. The remote was removed from the room with the explanation that "it wasn't season"... Therefore the room was hot, but on the other hand it had a nice balkony. Small bathroom with shower, no tub. Thin walls if you have loud neighbours, but otherwise quiet. Very nice breakfast buffet with friendly staff! A hotel that i can recommend!

The room in the Hotel Trieste was quite excellent. I could tell it had been recently renovated, and it was also very spacious. As with most hotels in Italy, the elevator was rather small, but functional. My only complaint is that the map that we were given did not have the train station on it, and this made finding the train station very difficult (even though the hotel is only a 15-minute walk from the station). Either a new map or at least some more guidance from the concierge would really help a lot.

Excellent location - 5-10 minutes walk from train station, easy to find. We booked a double and were given a triple. Room was large and clean. The room faced the street with a great little balcony. Only problem is that it was a little noisy at night with the windows open and it wasn't cool enough to turn on the ac, so we slept with the windows shut to block the noise. Rooms at the back of the hotel may be quieter. Buffet breakfast was good, standard food. The bar in the lobby was a nice treat for a 2-start hotel and they prices were very reasonable. Quite honestly, I'm not sure why this isn't a 3-star as it is comparable to all the other 3-star hotels we've visited in Italy. We'd stay here again.
