Everything is OK, apart from absence of elevator, that should be indicated in the information, and the impossibility to have any kind of beverage or snack in place of breakfast when checking out early (before 7:30 am). Price at least should be accordingly reduced (I paid euros 120,00 for double room). Personnel is kind and helpful. Can I suggest to consider changing the green sign of the hotel?

Reception staff very helpful, only 5 mins from station and very close to on-off bus etc. No-where very close to eat at night, especially on one's own, but that was not a great problem. Good value and enjoyed my stay there

This is a top end 3 star hotel experience, not 2 star - hence the prices. You can take breakfast outside in patio, if there is space! Halfway between station & arena (10 mins to each) so good for both. THe staff really want to look after you

We were travelling by train and I picked the hotel in part because it was mid way between the station and the city sights. The staff were alays very helpful, as my partner smokes quite a lot I had asked if possible for a smoking room but explained that would not be a problem if the hotel was nonsmoking. The hotel is nonsmoking but we were given the only room with a balcony. Given the hotel is in Verona, this coould not have been more appropriate!!!

This is simply the best one we stayed across the 2 weeks we are in Italy, we got a room which is like a duplex. Superb bathroom and with a nice breakfast served in the morning. Location wise, it's around 10 minutes walk from the train station, however, nothing much in the surrounding area, you've to walk further into the city area :-). Apart from this, both of us like this hotel very very much.

Uninspiring from the street but an oasis inside. Well located- a comfortable walk from the railway station but also an easy stroll to the Arena. Quiet at night and good air conditioning (essential in summer). We were fortunate to be allocated a two level room in a separate annex- bedroom upstairs and sitting room (sofa and chairs)and bathroom below. Unexpected luxury and highly recommended.

The hotel was easy to find approx. 20 min walk from the station and the same from the Arena in Piazza Bra. It is on a main road, so rooms overlooking the street can be noisy during the day, but much less traffic in the evening. There is no lift, so people who have difficulty climbing stairs need to be aware of this fact. Charming breakfast room with a good choice from the buffet.

The employees are very polite. They are ready to give of type of information (touristic and other). Room is rather clean, but the window should be open frequently. Also there is no refrigerator in the room. There is no bar to have coffee or tea. We have been in Verona for the first time.

We were surprised at the nice room(a family of four people). It was very spacious, one large twinbed-room and going up stairs in the room ,upstairs, one twinbed room. The receptionist was kind enough to show us to the room, and it was already warm enough when we arrived there-with a selfservice tea set. There were a number of warm service!

We enjoyed a restful stay in a very quiet room, despite the large number of other guests. Easy walking distance of all the sights of central Verona and ideal for the opera at the Arena. Helpful, friendly staff, good breakfast, pleasant room, in all 10/10! We would definitely return for the next opera season.

This is the first stay at Hotel Scalzi. The purpose of our stay was to see operas at the Arena Verona. The hotel is located in a calm area of the city and at a distance of less than ten minutes by walk from arena.

We had a flat with 2 bedrooms at the 3rd floor (no lift). The apartment was ok but no air conditioning in one bedroom. No Internet access in the hotel. Location is close to the historic center of the city by foot.

Nice, modest, well-priced hotel with a very welcoming, helpful staff. The breakfast was very good. The only problem we had was that there was no elevator so we had to lug our bags up the stairs. But the location is central and convenient to the major sites around town. The map/directions on the website were not real clear, however, so it took us a long time to find it.

An excellent choice. The hotel is close to the train station and the Piazza Bra. We had a most enjoyable stay and can highly recommend this hotel as good value for money.

A small and charming hotel in Verona. I walked the entire city while staying at the hotel and found its location very good for being on foot. I liked the staff and the breakfast. All in this hotel has a classic Italian feel as a hotel. Prior to my stay at this hotel I had never been in Verona before and it took me a little while to find it when I walked from the train station. From the station you should plan on about a 15 to 20 minute walk and I’d suggest that for a first time in Verona you email the hotel for clear walking instruction or take a cab.

On arrival, I was given a choice of a smaller room at the back of the hotel (awa from the street noise) or a larger room at the front. I chose the larger room and, despite the traffic noise, it was probably the nicest room I have ever had in Europe. Newly renovated to a very high standard.

Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed about the breakfast. The breakfast was in total ok, but it took always very long to fill up the plates and after filling up, there were only few parts available.

The room was quite small, but we weren't visiting Verona just to use the hotel room. It looked quite run down from outside, but the bedroom was very recently renovated, was lovely and clean. The bathroom had a glass door that slid across, and left a gap down the edge. Not a problem for couples, but we were just two friends in a twin room, and so it was a bit strange. The breakfast was very good, but the breakfast room was very cramped and dark.

I was unable to answer some of the questions so I put in 0 - please provide a n/a or don't know option. Great hotel. Friendliest welcome I've had in a hotel! Recently tastefully renovated. Location about half way between railway/bus station and centre. Area feels safe and comfortable even late at night.

The price commented above is not particular to the Hotel Scalzi but general to Verona hotels in the opera season. Extraodinary expensive. The owner of the Hotel Scalzi was elegant and highly-sensed lady like an actress. The twin room we stayed has been renovated recently and comfortable. Other parts seem to be in the course of renovation. The interior design of the entrance and cafeteria hall is classic and beautiful.

Very friendly and welcoming; very helpful and sympathetic when I lost my wallet, passport etc. Room fine for a short stay; location good - 10 minute walk to Piazza Bra; price very reasonable considering location and opera season.

Although the hotel was not finished with an unpublished remodel, the staff and facility made a very good impression. The lack of a closet made our stay feel like elegant camping, but the hotel is a very old building lacking in some modern touches. Our needs for parking were handled well, which is not always a guarantee in Italy. Overall we were very comfortable and enjoyed Verona and Hotel Scalzi to the fullest.
