Economy room is very little for 2 adults... but the hotel is clean and the location is near the centre (15 minuts on foot) and close the rail station. the street has free parking. rich breakfast. excellent for young people or for a w.e., the quality/price is very convenient!

The room was not tiny, but it was the smallest of our travels through Italy. The style inside was very function (like the Ibis chain) though the work table was so close to the bed, I couldn't actually pull the chair out to sit in. There was a narrow, high window in the corner. Breakfast is exceptional!!! The staff seemed more professional than...friendly (if that makes sense). There are no restaurants nearby. There is a shuttle to their partner restaurant, otherwise a 15-20 minute walk. The location is very close to the train station, though I found the directions given on the hotel's website to be incomplete. Google maps was more helpful. If you aren't going to stay near the old town, this is an excellent value.

Should I return to beautiful Verona, I'd go back to Piccolo and that probably is the most clear comment I can make. Perfect quietness, good breakfast, surroundings so so, but close to the station. Polite staff. I also have had a very good price. May everyone have good time in Verona.

The hotel was quite a walk from the station, but we were told that the bus would take longer! The view over the canal was disappointing, not pretty at all. But the hotel was clean, and staff were really helpful especially when we had a problem with our opera tickets (not booked through hotel). Really glad of the free shuttle bus to and from opera. Will stay again.

The hotel is easy to find and near the rail station. It is only a 5-10 minute walk to the center of Verona. However, the AC didn't work in the room, and the shower drain barely worked so that it nearly overflowed. The building wasn't much to look at from the outside, but we did get to store our luggage after checkout. Breakfast was ok. Overall, it wasn't worth the price that I paid for it. We stayed in much nicer hotels for much cheaper in bigger cities. It fulfilled its purpose for a small group for one night though.

The night concierge was surly. The surroundings a little spooky. However I did get a parking spot for my car out front and left it there for 2 days and nights free with no damage. The best thing I can say is that the hotel offers a free shuttle to their restaurant in their other hotel. The food was great there and the service friendly without a high price.

This hotel is some way from the city centre which is within a walking time of a minimum of 20 minutes. It is very conveniently situated for the railway station. It offers excellent value and the breakfast is very good and was the best we experienced during a stay at several hotels. The hotel provides a regular minibus service to a nearby sister hotel with a restaurant which offers an excellent set price meal at reasonable cost. Be prepared to wait for the return journey until the driver has finished his meal. Excellent hotel which has to maintain high standards with good value because of its non central position

Fine hotel. I knew this hotel would be a walk to centre of town and it took min 10 mins. it is very convenient to the train station and for the price i was prepared for the limited distance from the centre. The hotel was very clean with adequate and modern furnishings. the room was very small but had a large balcony (which not all rooms have it seems). Staff were very helpful and the buffet brekfast was great. The gym was fantastic - though i suspect rarely used. Highly recommend it - especially for the price.

Despite the road and the hotel looking rather unpreposessing from the outside, the room was very comfortable, quiet and nicely decorated, albeit with a rather "corporate" feel. Puzzlingly it was actually in another hotel adjoining. The whole place felt a bit soulless but it was absolutely fine for a one night stay. I was a bit concerned by not being able to lock the door from the inside; the mechanism somehow didn't enagage. I would have complained about this if I had been staying longer. The hotel is extremely near the station so excellent as I was travelling around by rail, it is not very convenient for exploring the city as it is a good 25 minutes brisk walk to the centre of Verona. In summary I would say it was fine for what I wanted, a one-night stay on a journey, but if I visit the city again I would look for somewhere more central and welcoming.

First time in Verona, just wanted an unexpensive hotel, after 20 days traveling in Croatia. Our main goal was Rigoletto at the Arena, so we just needed a CLEAN hotel with a CLEAN bathroom, towels and bed sheets. After a bad first impression when you get to the Reception and see the façade, we realized that the rooms had been totally refurbished and were really well kept, with our desired neat sheets and an efficient air-conditioning. Given that prices in Verona are high and that we had just had a frustrating -and expensive- experience in a Croatian hotel, we found this one seemed a 5 star hotel for us. Don't expect something 'cozy', charming, classy or special at all. It's just a perfectly clean place, 15 minutes off the wonderful city centre of glorious Verona, which was a great discovery for us. This town is much more than just the Arena and the Shakesperean Lovers' fake touristy milestones. The Piccolo is a great choice if you don't want to pay exhorbitant amounts of money for a clean place to have a rest.

Easy access from Train Station (5 minutes walk if you know the way) and within a 15 minute very pleasant walk to the Arena. Hotel staff very helpful and polite with very good English. There are three sister hotels, Martini, Piccolo and the Porto Palio just down the road. Each Hotel provides a good Continental Breakfast. If you want an evening meal ask at reception (The Martini) and a free car will take you to and from the Porto Palio Lido, where the food and service is excellent. From the Porto Palio we took the free coach, provided by the Hotel chain, to the Arena to see Carmen. The same coach takes you back to the hotel(s) after the opera. The Hotel provides bikes to get get around on at only 7 euros per day. This is the best way to see Verona as the area is very flat and, surprisingly, the drivers are very courteous to cyclists. We had the misfortune of my husband having a serious accident in the hotel room (opening a bottle of wine) that resulted in an ambulance journey and a visit to the hospital. Within moments there were three members of staff coming to our aid. We cannot thank them enough for their help on that occasion nor for the pleasantness of our stay there.

We have now stayed at the Piccolo for six consecutive years, and we have never been less than very pleased with the accommodations and the service. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and efficient, and I look forward to returning every year. Breakfasts are excellent and varied. An important aspect of the hotel for me and the small group of college students who come with me is the proximity to the train station. Better directions from the station to the hotel on the web page would be welcome. Although it is a short walk, the path is a little complicated.

Cheapish, and near the station, and fairly easy to find. But the surroundings are not nice, and there are prostitues everywhere, although as a bloke they did not bother me (as in scared me - they certainly approached every man on their own). I liked this hotel. It is close to main train station, about 5 minutes to walk though there is nothing between station and hotel but many traffic lights and broken pavements, no shops, no restaurants. When you are on Porta Nuova station square you see huge church which you should turn round from left (better) or right side. The hotel Martini/Piccolo (they are in one building) is a little further ahead. I was given a double room as single, the room was convenient. Breakfast was very good, also.

This hotel has been bought by the Hotel Martini 2 doors away and all the reception tasks are carried out by them. This meant that we had to go 2 doors away to check in and every time we went in and out. With no active reception desk and no staff about in the building, and with a slight scent of disinfectant permeating the long narrow corridor it gave an impression of a ghost hotel, although the following morning at breakfast, which was at Piccolo, we found that the place was quite full. If there were a fitness centre and sauna as stated on the web page we didn't notice them , but then we didn't enquire about them. In the evening we found that the the shower was very slow to drain and complained the following day. This was dealt with. The more irritating problem was the noise of water from the next room. As their bathroom jotted into our room we could hear every water movements next door louder than our own — flushing of toilet, shower etc.

This is the only hotel that is within walking distance of the Train Station and it is a 15-18 minute walk, crossing a busy street. The staff was very helpful and spoke English. There are no restaurants nearby and on a Sunday not many are open at all. Their breakfast was very abundant and buffet style. Check in is at the adjacent property and someone walks you to the annex where your room is located. The rooms were well appointed and offered modern comforts. Air Conditioning worked very well, and there was a refrigerator and television in the room.

We found that it was quite a long walk into the centre of Verona and back after a long day's sightseeing. We would consider finding a hotel within the city walls next time, however it was close to the station which was a plus point as we were travelling using the train. We had gone to Verona to see the opera and were pleased the hotel had laid on a bus to the Arena and back. Excellent breakfast spread.

It was OK, no more. A long way out of town, and near what passes for Verona's red light area. Overpriced - but then I guess that all hotels are in the opera season. Was unhappy about the room and really should have complained: it backed onto the fire escape and the windows were barred for security. God knows what wd have happened if there'd actually been a fire!

We did not have a good stay here. Verona is a hard city to book a quad room in for a reasonable price so I booked a triple for our family of 4 with kids aged 2 and 4. I then called the hotel to make sure that they would be okay with the 4 of us in a room for 3. I was told cheerfully that this was fine. All this changed when we arrived. The man at reception was very cold in demeanor. When I asked about getting a comforter to fold, extra mattress, or "baby cot" (whatever that is) for my daughter, I was told rudely that no baby cots were available. We were then sent to our room with the luggage porter and that was it for their service. Once in our room, we discovered that the third bed was actually a daybed/bunkbed combo. We raised it up, took out the mattress and dropped it back down. We acquired an extra sheet from my inlaws who were also staying with us in a nearby room. The next day, housekeeping put everything back and took the extra sheet, forcing us to go through all that trouble to arrange the beds all over again! At checkout the same man who greeted us rudely told us, "We saw you used the mattress and sheet..." and told us of an extra charge. Then almost refused to listen to me explain how upset we were over all the trouble we had to go through to get said sheet and bed and with no help from the hotel in the first place. And still charged us for the sheet (for washing). If they had just told us up front about where to find the mattress and provided a sheet, we would have been quite happy. We would have been happy to pay the charge if they had provided at least a little assistance with the fourth bed. And 5 euro to wash a crummy sheet? Come on.... (They also charge 5 euro for 30 minutes of internet use as well. Extortionist hotel.)

Some of the staff were obviously not comfortable with a gay couple staying. Really got looked down at by the reception staff. Breakfast was ok and the location was close to the railway station. Aircon didn't work and there were tenniss courts out the back which were rather noisy,

We were traveling for pleasure - 3 weeks throughout Italy. This hotel is very nice, clean, and quiet. I think it is better suited for the business traveler. Although located convenient to the train station, we felt it was quite isolated from the sight seeing area. It's probably more like a 20 minute walk rather than a 10 minute walk to the sights as published. There are no restaurants or grocery stores near the hotel. We returned from sight seeing and asked about places to eat and were recommended to go back from where we had just come. Nice hotel. Not crazy about the location.

The only negative point is the location that was far away from the city center. All the other aspects were above expectation, although this was the most expensive hotel in all travel around Italy, France and Amsterdam.

Good hotel. very nice room and breakfast. lovely bathroom. great power shower. very near the train station. good buses into and out of verona. a bit of a walk to main sites in verona centre...by the time you walk in and walk around you will be quite tired. get a 3 day verona pass for 12€ at any attraction - free on the buses then. not much shops or restaurants near hotel have to go into centre

It was somewhat difficult to reach from the train station. the road was bumpy to pull your luggage. Our room was on the first floor and one nite there was a large crowd in the hotel lobby, making a tremendous amount of noise! We called down and they were aware of it and would try to stop it? The lady who served breakfest was not too friendly and she did not replenish depleted items.

This was my second stay at Hotel Piccolo having stayed there previously in 2006. It's a fairly simple, unpretentious hotel which is comfortable, offers clean and comfortable rooms and is very well-located for the train station and the city centre if you are happy to walk 10 minutes or so. It is fairly secluded and quiet despite being close to a ring road.

Front desk staff was very friendly and extremely competent. They helped me figure out how to get to a swim meet clear cross town using public transportation. Breakfast was good but dry (cookies, bread, croissants), not much in the way of moist foods (fruit, yogurt etc). Rooms and common facilities were very clean. Hotel is close to central station, neighborhood was quiet.

We stayed in a triple room for a couple of nights, the hotel is very close to the train station, which is great if you are carrying luggage, and about 15 min. walk to the centre of Verona. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and perfect for our expectations. The best part was the breakfast which had great variety and was really nice if you're used to European continental breakfasts. We did not have time to check out the hotel's other facilities but overall would recommend the hotel and would definitely return.
