A very decent hotel with above average facilities. The staff were charming and the bedroom was more than adequate. A superb location. Breakfast was ok and typically tourist hotel in its offerings!

We made booking accordin photos and previous journey, but hotel bought other availabilities in other buidings which was not described on internet resevation. Finally we got room in main hotel, but room for breakfast is a bit too small. Good location for visit, but hotel booking need to be more precisely defined

It can be a difficult to get to this hotel due to Veronas street system. Best thing to do is once you see the hotel is park up. We were then informed that we were actually staying in an annex some 500 yards away which was next to a building site, so all the pretty pictures of the bar etc are useless because you are not there! We also didn't feel safe, just abandoned. The breakfast was awful. When we came to check out we weren't on their system, so they tried to fob us off for some more breakfast. Verona is beautiful, but it can be a rip-off, best thing to do is stay in beautiful area of Garda and take a day trip in.Do nt exchange travellers cheques in Verona, 11% and higher charges are the norm.

We had trouble getting to the hotel using the instructions on the website and confirmation email. The person who answered the phone was not able to help. Once we arrived there was some confusion about a change to our reservation that came up again at our check out which made both arrival and departure unpleasant. However, the breakfast was phenomenal, and the rooms very nice. While wireless is offered, there is a fee, and it can only be accessed in the very tiny bar area.

Overall, I was very pleased with my stay. The room and bathroom were very clean - although the bathroom was extremely tiny (especially the shower). The single room was small, but not at all cramped for one person - it was also nice to have a little desk and plenty of lighting. It would have been nice to have internet access in the room; rather, you had to go downstairs to the lobby area. This was better than nothing, but at times inconvenient. It was also at an additional charge, but seemed reasonable. Breakfast was good - large buffet with lots of selection. The walls were pretty thin - I could hear everything going on in the hallway outside of my room, but it wasn't anything that a pair of earplugs couldn't fix. Also, I was not overly thrilled with the staff - they were cordial enough, but not particularly helpful or welcoming. As for the photos on venere.com - they certainly make the rooms look much more airy and spacious and "design"-heavy than mine was. That said, the location was great and the rooms were very clean, so if nothing better came along, I would stay here on my next trip to Verona.

Lovely hotel. I have had a room with Juliets :)) balcony. Very easy to reach them- from Porta Nuova station on the left and strihgt ahead till old city, and arena ir very near. Hotel is located on the main street, but not noisy or dusty. It was wintertime, I dont know about summer.

Very good location -close to the Arena. Rooms were quite spacious and modern. Ours was a superior double room, with a huge bed (180 cms.!). Though the view was not quite nice -it gave to a small internal countryard. Breakfast included. Quite varied, but average quality for being in Italy. The staff was not very welcoming -we would even say they were a bit rude-, but eventually provided information/help. Overall, the experience was positive. The hotel was good and well located, and Verona is a lovely city (forget the overcrown Casa di Giulietta and don't miss Piazza Erbe e Piazza dei Signori!).

We have never been to Italy before but can't wait to return. The public transport network is far better than England and much cheaper. Everyone was very helpfull from the airport (Trevisio)on the bus and at the railway station. Being middle aged we were a bit cautious but needen't have worried. The hotel Mastino was very comfortable and the Breakfast was more than adequate, I would definitely stay there again and Verona is wonderfull.

The most expensive hotel room I have ever stayed in and one of the worst in terms of quality. I suspect this is more of a reflection on Verona and the hotels's proximity to Piaza Bra than the hotel itself. Nonetheless I could not recommend this hotel to others. E195 for a tiny room on a main street and situated above a MacDonalds outlet represents poor value in any city.

The Hotel was really nice. The Staff was very friendly. The only thing we think that should improved is that the cleaning staff should have noted the little scratch on the wallpaper. This is so easy to be remarked and it shold be no problem to fix this in such a hotel category. Although we enjoyed the stay pretty much. The Hotel is very close to the Arena!

Centrally located reception but some rooms are in separate buildings owned by the hotel. Annexe on San Antonio was beautifully restored, very quiet and had the feel of a high-class appartment. Breakfast was impressive. Golf buggy to transport you to and from reception. High quality and very near to the arena.

The fact that MacDonalds was right next door was initially worrying, but once inside the hotel it was apparent that it was an excellent choice. Everything was good, except the lift, which was small and had a mind of its' own, and the showers! I understand that the couple we stayed with had a new and better shower, so maybe that is in hand, but even theirs was really slippery. The Mastino needs to put non-slip surfaces in their showers. The staff were really friendly, helpful and welcoming, and the breakfast was good. The fact that it was possible to have breakfast from 7 until 11 am made for a really relaxing stay. We had a late evening flight, and they were really helpful, allowing us to retain the room until 7.30 pm for a much reduced amount for the day.

My husband and I were very happy with the room and hotel. The room was surprisingly large for a European room, and nicely decorated with furnishings from I believe to be IKEA. We were pleased that there was a safe in the room as not all hotel's offer this. We came to Verona to see The Who in concert at the Arena and the Arena was merely minutes away by foot. The hotel staff brought us a wonderful bottle of Prosecco after our check in. The breakfast buffet (which was included in the already low price of the room) was your typical European breakfast, however, there were hot, fresh cornetta's every 30 minutes! I will definately book another room at this hotel when we come back to Verona. The room we received for the price was excellent (120 Euro; breakfast included.) One word of warning: the hotel does have private parking but only for 10 cars so you will most likely have to find some parking either on the street or at a parking garage.

Location is excellent. Staff was very UNfriendly. Room was large, but not very clean. We were rushed out of the breakfast room before we were through. Staff called AT EXACTLY 11:00 am & told us to vacate the room immediately - we found that very rude as check out time was 11:00 am. We were NOT EVEN A MINUTE LATE!!! THAT IS UNFRIENDLY!!!

The room is very clean and new. clean hardwood floor. And to our surprise there's a jacuzzi; the only problem is that on the very first time we tried using it, the on/off pushbutton got stuck; the jacuzzi couldn't stop, so you can imagine how noisy it it. So we went back to reception (that was like 11pm) and tried to request to another room. He said there's no room available (we were skeptical of his claim), and when we went back up, athe jacuzzi finally stopped (I guess the usual auto-stop function) Other than that, nice hotel! just stone-throw from city center!

This hotel is bait and switch. The internet photos are of an annex building 150 meters behind the hotel you regester in from the street. I kept wondering if I was in the right hotel. Just before checking out I saw a brochure on the check out desk with all of the photos on the internet, the hotel I thought I was staying in and paying for. When I asked where those rooms were I was told that building was down the street. The room we got was a low grade bare bones, small, room over the McDonalds which stays open until 1:00am and is the local kids hang out. I felt cheated and angry. The only correct action this hotel made was taking 30 euros a night off of the bill.

The Hotel itself is nice and is really close to the Arena, this was a plus for us because we went there for a concert! There was a BIG issue: we chose a junior suite, and it was terribly noisy. The noise came from the McDonalds flue with a big fan placed on the top of the roof.

If you visit Verona for concert or opera at Arena-the hotel is OK..very close to Arena and all other landmarks of the ancient city.Small but clean rooms, friendly staff. The most unpleasant thing for us was McDonalds at the groung floor of the hotel-conflicting combination of wonderfull ancient architecture and spirit of verona and this symbol of artificial food and industrial lifestyle-If I go again there i would probably book the same hotel ,but may look for another as well.

NOT RECOMMENDED - MASSIVE DISSAPOINTMENT! Firstly, the hotel website photo's don't show this but half the ground floor is now a MACDONALDS!! The rooms were depressing and in poor order - leaking showers that sort of thing. We had a very unsatisfactory experience...the hotel was in the process of replacing windows so it was noisy (nice wake up call) and DIRTY. It spoilt our holiday - we made plenty of complaints and were offered a complementry stay!! NO THANKS. Plenty of better alternatives in our view.

Just down from the archway leading to Piazza Bra and the Arena, so a great location, a bit off the main street so not too noisy, room was clean and modern. One grumble was that my cable TV wasn't working and so I only got 1 channel - as I was only staying one night I didn't bother to report it. Plus point: I had a very modern shower which had a "massage" function - very nice! (I don't know how many rooms get this - I was in a single, and my friends in a double got a 'normal' shower)

Smallish hotel right in centre of Verona, about 100 metres from Roman Arena. Verona is definitely worth a visit, can get from side to side of old city in 15 minutes, and enough to keep you interested for several days. Hotel tried to fob us off with rooms across road, meaning had to walk across street to get to breakfast. (Big jewellry convention and shortage of rooms I guess as we went in January - take your woolies, -2C to +3C.) Obviously upgrading hotel and tried some period touches here and there, that were better than nothing. Bathrooms very good and showers had seating and jets of water from all directions. Impressed that linen was changed on bed every day. Breakfast room rather crowded, but fresh fruit, yoghurts and mediocre coffee, with lots of breads, cheeses and meats - as you would expect. Looking round city, I think this is a decent medium priced hotel thats trying to improve.

Very well located hotel. However, the room was too small, a very tight fit in the plastic shower. If you open the window for air, it is far too noisy outside with noise from McDonalds underneath and car noise from the street, so you had to keep the window closed. The staff were generally not very friendly and the breakfast room was far too cramped and obtaining all your food and drinks was a bit of a "scrum" as another reviewer has previously stated. Overall I was very unhappy with the hotel and would definitely not stay there again, ever.

Hotel Mastino was really impressive - at the upper end of a 3 star hotel it was so well located between the train station - only a 15 min walk and the centre of town. Staff were so friendly & helpful - the use of their complimentary umbrellas was fabulous!, check in & check out was efficient & the breakfast was abundant. Location of property is excellent, but rooms are very small even by European/Italian standards. However, most disturbing was the aloof and unhelpful front desk staff. Requests for room issues (AC, TV) problems went unattended, requests about tour services was answered by tellingme to go read the brochures on the wall(many of the English versions were missing)and a request for extended checkout was begrudgingly granted for 1 hour. B'fast was decent. If visiting Verona again I am booking a different property...this was not 3 star faciltiy.

A good place to stay at. Location near the Arena was a great advantage to us. Being from north of Europe I also appreciated the breakfast table.

The hotel is very well located, very close to Arena. The breakfeast is excellent! We booked a triple room, but the third bed was inadequate and uncomfortable.

During booking I asked for a quite room and got is as requested. Furthermore, the breakfest itself and the service around is really excellent.

Our 3 day stay in Verona at the Mastino was so enjoyable. This hotel is so near the Arena and Piazza Bra etc. Our room didn't have a view but that wasn't important to us. The room and bed-linen were spotlessly clean. We would certainly use this hotel again.

We stayed in Mastino for 2 nights on our honeymoon. We were given a discount on the local car park and checked in straight away even though early. Our room was clean however the shower leaked onto the carpet and gave off a small smell. Air-conditioning worked very well. Location was fantastic with only a few steps to the Piazza Bra. I would recommend this hotel and would return on my next stay.

We were very satisfied with our two days in your hotel. Only one wish, a better guide how we should drive to reach the hotel

The location of the hotel {just a couple of minutes walk from the Arena}was great for the opera which was the main reason for my visit. The staff were extremely helpful spending time giving directions to various places although they were always very busy.V efficient air conditioning which was welcome in June.I would definatly stop here again

For the price we were charged it was a very very small room and definitely not worth the money.

Rooms in the back are quiet. I can not comment about the front. Well located, good A/C, clean rooms. Yes I would stay here again.

Good relation cost-benefits. Few meters from historic center. Comfortable and quiet room in the last floor. In my next travel to Verona I will ask for reservation in the same hotel.

I have stayed at the Mastino twice: once in the new building, behind the hotel, and once in the old annex in front. The new annex is very nice, quite, and has a breakfast area for that section. The old annex is old, noisy, but clean. The service is mediocre and the reception clerk, especially the male clerk is invariably unpleasant. However, until I find a better hotel for the price I will grudgingly return.

The new annexe, which is really nice and clean, made our stay at Mastino a bit awkward as we had to walk to the main hotel for breakfast or anything we would need. Also, this annexe feels like any chain 3* hotel, the charm of the original rooms has completely gone while staying at the annexe.

A major reason I might not use Mastino again is the use of my credit card number and security code on their correspodence to me. I believe this a serious breach of security. We also had a very noisy room one the first floor directly above the McDonald outdoor seating area. Every thing else was saisfactory and the personnel and staff were very nice.

This is a perfect hotel if you are doing a short city break and want to be out and about. Location is very central. The key top attractions are all within walking distance. There are several non tourist restaurants within minutes of the hotel.I did read one review that said the food was no good, personally I thought the breakfast was more than adequate, very continental, no american or english breakfast. The hotel is an easy 10 min walk from the central train station(where you get dropped off if using Ryan Air). This is my 2nd stay in the hotel, both rooms Ive stayed in were very comfortable. If you are looking for a hotel with the perfect location at a reasonable price this is the one.

During our 2+ week stay in Italy, this hotel was not only the most expensive compared to the B+Bs we used elsewhere, but was also the lowest quality - cramped room, not great decor, staff who was rather aloof. The location was very central and the breakfast was good, but these reasons would not be enough to get us to return in the future.

While we were checking in, our bags were stolen. The hotel staff didnt seem to care and offered no assistance. One employee behind the desk said it happened frequently yet ther was no warning sign posted nor was there any security. Another couple's bags were also stolen and they got the same poor treatment. Our trip to this beautiful city was spent in the police station. To add insult to injury, we were unable to even get an extra pillow that evening! The hotel has never contacted us nor have they returned any of our emails. Do not stay here. It isnt safe and the staff is imcompetent. Had our bags not been stolen, it wouldnt have been worth the price charged given the level of service and friendliness of the staff.

Excellent location and hotel personals. Friendly stuff in kitchen as well. Thank you very much for all your help! Really do not matter this hotel got McD on 1st floor. actiually, it did come in handy since we stayed in holiday season and almost every place to eat was closed and we did not want to walk around and find any place open in the middle of frozen rain.
