Nice, tidy small hotel with a smart and very good 'Restaurant Rubiano' beneath. The location is 150m from the Roman Arena and the bottom of the traffic free Via Mazzini which is the main shopping street in central Verona. We borrowed five of the hotels bicycles and spent two happy hours riding around the surprisingly traffic free streets of the old city centre.

We staid in this hotel one night with two young children. We got a room that was separated into two areas - one with two single beds and one with a double bed. Room was very clean. Above all, this hotel is in the excellent location - right in the center of Verona.

We enjoyed our stay and the location of the hotel --right off a major plaza with restaurants and shopping. The hotel was quiet but there was outside noise due to the location. That was not a negative for us, however, as there was a concert in the coliseum that we enjoyed all evening long.

The decor is very out of date, the room I stayed in had little natural light, the carpet was dark blue and the curtains peach. The furniture is old. I felt depressed as soon as I entered. The management desperately need to carry out some re-furbishment and modernisation. The only good thing is its location, it's right in the heart of Verona.

You just can't beat the location. You literally walk out the front door and you are at the Arena. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The room was a little snug but certainly not any worse than the other rooms available in Verona. I would definitely stay there again.

Beware. On arrival, checked in and handed over car keys for garage parking as booked, having parked the car as indicated by receptionist. 10 minutes or more later police are trying to tow car away because it has not been moved to garage. Euro78 fine to pay and Euro45 for release of car. After discussions hotel director agreed to pay the fines because of hotel staff errors. After that all was fine until leaving for airport. Arranged for car to be brought round to leave at noon. Told to be ready with cases to load and leave immediately. At 11.50 we were ready but car did not arrive at noon - same receptionist only sent for it at 1155 and two other cars were brought before ours finally arrived at 12.25! Otherwise all was fine with good breakfast choice, super location and good accomodation.

It is unlikely you find better value: you are VERY central, all entertainment is just below your feet, and the quality is real 4-star. The room is quite big (for Italy), the bathroom is full of character (there is no bath - but an excellent shower). The service is quite good. The directions are actually OK - follow the hotel signs carefully, and you are there without trouble. If you miss - make a round and try again. TomTom directions are also good. You'll be passing through very narrow streets, full of people, be careful, especially in the evening hours when fun is going on. We parked a little bit aside from the hotel, but inside the historical area - it took us some moderate push on the receptionist to get a parking permission card, but it was free of charge (they take you passport as a collateral). If you are for quiet accommodation go somewhere else, or just close the window. You are on a central shopping street, and the day begins early and ends late.

We only had a single night at Verona and wish we could have stayed longer! This hotel is in an excellent position, just adjacent to Piazza Bra. Whilst the traffic at the front door is the usual Italian mayhem, it was very comforting to have a staff member take charge of our vehicle and park it. The room was very good, spacious and clean and breakfast was also very good. Our biggest surprise was being given a gift on parting - a bath robe - even though we had only stayed one night!

This is a perfect hotel if you want to be in the very centre of Verona, you couldn't get nearer to the Arena if you tried! Our room had a balacony over looking the Piaza Bra which was fantastic plus we could hear the music from the Arena. The staff were efficient but not friendly. The garage parking worked well and was good value. You would need a good map or GPS to find the hotel through the one way system. It is is a perfect loaction to tour all the main areas of Verona and is in 5 minutes walk of two of the very best, and most expensive, restaraunts in the city. The bathroom was large with a great shower. We didn't eat in the restraunt attached to the hotel but the breakfast had a varied choice, with decent tea! If you want to be in the heart of the city this is a great choice.

There were two things I didn't like about the Bologna - firstly, getting to it. A nightmare. At one point I could see it. The policeman who had stopped me could see it. But neither of us had any idea of how to get to it. In the end, we parked up, walked to the hotel and got them to explain how to get there by car - and that worked a treat. Then, we booked car parking. What that actually means is that you give the hotel your car keys and wave goodbye to your car until you next need it. It gets parked somewhere about 20 minutes drive away! That said, it was a really nice hotel; fantastically central; gorgeous surroundings, nice rooms, polite staff. I would not hesitate to stay there again, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Our room had a very cute balcony and fireplace (although not working). The location was great - in the heart of Verona, a small hike from the train station (bus available if you don't want to walk). The walls were thin though and we heard our neighbors fighting very clearly late at night. The bed was a bit hard with a lack of good pillows. Very spacious room though for Europe. The breakfast was good. Overall - satisfied with our stay and would recommend to others.

We were very pleased with this hotel. We had a small balcony overlooking the arena and the central square which was great for soaking up the atmosphere. There are only 2 front-facing rooms with balconies though, so make sure you request one well in advance. The hotel has a private car park which costs 16 euros a night. It is expensive, but given the hotel's central location it's got to be expected. Right outside the hotel, by the central square, are a number of nice restaurants and a superb gelaterie (ice-cream shop). It's not expensive but it has the most amazing array of flavours (I recommend Kit-Kat) and the biggest scoop sizes I have ever seen - 2 scoops there is probably equivalent to what you would get for 4 scoops in the UK. Verona is an amazing city and I would certainly recommend it to anyone who hasn't been here already (though be prepared for some culture!). I would definitely recommend this hotel too. It's true that it isn't easy to find; however, that would be the case for any hotel in Verona.

A charming property, room was Italian old style and very comfortable for 4 people as it was divided into 2 rooms. A very nice hotel quietly situated within a few steps of the Arena. Good airconditioning in the room, which was very comfortable - bathroom a bit cramped but modern. Excellent reception, and a brilliant system for taking the car away to an unseen garage, it reappeared exctly at the timle requested. Gooid breakfast in a spacious dininbg room. Thotoughly recommended for a city break in this popular and crowded city. Note that the room prices are considerably higher when there is an opera performance. Rather difficult to find by car - you have to brave semi-pedestrian streets, and the signposting seems to die on you before you get there - make sure you have a good town map. Venere could inprove its access details right across the site, in my experience - its my only complaint about the site.

Nicely located by the Arena. Well run with helpful staff. Hotel is located in an area with many outdoor restaurants so the noise is not the fault of the hotel or guests. Parking is extremely difficult for those travelling by car. 15 euros buys a valet park at a secure lot. I would recommend to others with the above cautions.

Nice hotel, friendly & helpful staff and a great location. Pricey, but probably worth it for the central location. Exceptionally difficult to find if you are not familiar with the city. The directions given were wrong. Numerous signs in the city for this hotel led us to nowhere or in the wrong direction. The exit referenced from the highway doesn't exist. We were very close on several occasions, but when asking directions, none of the locals could tell us where this hotel was. It took nearly two hours to find once in the city. In the end, staying here was worth the effort involved in finding it because of its proximity.

The Bologna hotel is very near to the Arena but none of its room offers the view on it. The heating device as well as in 6 other rooms was out of order which makes a night in winter very unpleasant. The furnishing of the room is also old fashioned. A 10% discount on the bill makes the ratio price for quality still very expensive. The Personal is friendly and the breakfast partly compensated for the inconvenience of the night.

Hotel Bologna in Verona, Italy, was just what I wanted for our 3 day stay there!! My family, my husband and two grown sons, had a lovely spacious room and bathroom. My sons had their own ajoining room with a sliding door with twin beds. We had a master bedroom with a king size bed. It was wonderful!! Very clean and comfortable. The breadfast area was very nice and offered a wonderful selection of foods. Service was excellent! Hotel Bologna is situated right next to the Arena, which is the center of attraction. We were able to walk to other sights and if you wanted, to the bus and train stations. We did take a taxi with our luggage a couple of times to the train terminal and it was only 10 euros. I would definitely select Hotel Bologna again!!These reviews from Venere helped me so much in my selection of hotels for our trip to Italy, I can't praise them enough for the help it gave me!! The double room was of a decent size and was clean with all the usual facilities. On the downside many of the fittings were a little dodgy; for example the windows and shower door were difficult to open/close. Also the hotel's entire AC system went down on the first night of our stay which made for a very unpleasant night's "rest". Breakfast was a pretty good buffet and the staff were pleasant and prompt. A major selling point for the hotel is its location, only a few seconds from the Arena.

Excellent location. ROoms were small but adequate. Triple room was wonderful for 3 children. Bathrooms are tiny but nice. Staff is efficient. reservation was perfect.

Great location (100 yards from the Arena but not noisy) but you pay for it. Rooms are charmless but clean. If you are going to the arena this is the place to stay, you can eat here before the performance while you watch the night scene and then attend your show. The only misfortune: the receptionist forgot to return our passports and I had to return from the train station to retrieve them; they offered an apology but no compensation for this inconvenience; offering to pay for the extra cab rides would've been appreciated.

Perfect location, but a bit hard to find and get to by car... Very nice "family style" hotel. It was perfect for us.

We are three female friends, and often have trouble with booking a triple accommodation,as hotels the world over seem to assume that we require a double bed and a single bed. The Bologna provided just what we wanted, in fact it exceeded our reservations. We got 3 beds in 2 rooms, less an hotel room than a suite. The room(s) were spotless and air-conditioned, the beds comfortable, the bed-linen immacaulate, the breakfast probably the best we had in Italy and the location the best in Verona, yards from the arena and right in the centre of the old city. The staff were friendly and efficient. Our accommodation was very reasonably priced, even in the middle of the opera season, and we would be pleased to recommend this hotel to fellow travellers. We were very pleased with it, and would love to return.

The Bologna was very satisfactory for a 3 star hotel. It provided good accommodation in a central position in Verona at a competitive price. Breakfast was well presented with plenty of food choice of good quality. I have no reservation in recommending this hotel.
