About San Clemente Palace Hotel

exterior Hotel San Clemente Palace Hotel & Resort exterior The San Clemente Palace is a Venice luxury grand hotel for elite tourism on the private island of San Clemente, in front of Piazza San Marco, La Giudecca and the Lido, dating back to 1131, the year in which the church was built.

Today's complex, enhanced by open-air courtyards, swimming pool, wellness centre, tennis court, golf court and park, retains all the charm and atmosphere of the ancient monastery of the Camaldolesi order, built in the second half of the seventeenth century.

The restoration of the buildings, accomplished with the utmost respect for the island's historical and artistic treasures and natural beauties, has made it possible to preserve all the historical flavour and to achieve a truly luxurious hotel for international guests who expect the most in terms of privacy and discretion.

PLEASE NOTE that the swimming pool is open from mid-May to mid-September. The wellness centre is closed on Mondays.

Everything really good, but I think that the wellness area should be really improved; the SPA atmosphere is "cold", with too much light and too many white walls..

The hotel and surroundings were beautiful. The private boat between San Marco and the hotel worked very well and it was lovely to leave the hustle and bustle and reach what seemed like our own private island. We also took a free boat trip to the Murano glass factory which the hotel staff kindly arranged. The buffet breakfasts were amazing and we were spoilt for choice. A truly wonderful place to stay with helpful, well trained and friendly staff.

A friend described the San Clemente as like a liner, permanently moored. The scale is enormous. Service is attentive but impersonal. One concierge was great, the other not so. In two visits I and friends had problems over dinner reservations, met with an inflexible response. The breakfast buffet can be rather pressurised. Internet facilities are poor (including one wonky keyboard), given the island location and the number of guests. It didn't help that I was eaten alive by mosquitoes.

My 86yr. old mother and I waited 1-2 hrs. for a room near the elavator. The 1st available res. for dinner was 9;30. The chz. buger and beef sandwich in the bar cost $50. Robbery! The waiter was not friendly. The bellman did not get our baggage @ 0730 as promised and I had to fetch them myself. The hotel has no accountability and the total opposite of our Crystal cruise.....

The San Clemente is a stunning grand hotel on it's own private island. My boyfriend and I stayed there for 4 night at the beginning of May 2006. What a wonderful time we had. The service and especially service recovery (we received a beautiful complimentary bowl of fruit just because we had a problem with our key for 10 mins!) was fantastic. The setting is divine and the grounds are a welcome peaceful retreat from the noise of San Marco. The food and drink is a bit pricey but what 5star luxury hotel isn't? The Ca dei frati restaurant was quite simply the finest culinary experience of our life. We went in there on our last night as it was my 35th birthday and received a free glass of champagne on arrival (we had already had free bottle of shampers in our room from the hotel as birthday gift!)We had 2 different complimentary 'chef's choice' tasters before our starters and amazing food for our meal. My boyfriend asked the hotel to do a birthday cake for me (admittedly he was charged for it) and I was presented with a stunning choc cake. Our whole experience at San Clemente was one of luxury and class and we absolutely did not want to leave. We loved the boat journey(less than 15 mins) as we love being on the water although admittedly it may not be for everyone. I had an amazing massage in the spa and we used the gym, hot tubs, strolled the grounds and felt truly relaxed. I adore Venice and now I adore San Clemente and won't stay anywhere else in Venice again.

The San Clemente Palace was all I hoped it would be. We arrived at 11.30 am and our room was not ready, so we had a coffe and sandwich in the bar. Both were excellent. The room was fantastic with a great view. Slippers and robes were provided by the hotel. The bed was turned down each evening and a complementary bottle of water provided. There was also a card with the weather forecast for the next day to help us plan our trip - a great touch! The food in the restaurant was excellent, but a little expensive. The boat trip to and from St Marks Square was great fun and took about 12 minutes. All in all, a great break in a fabulous hotel.

Very nice and quiet hotel (occupying all an island) outside Venice, 15 mn by vaporetto (each 20 mn) without additional charge. Luxuous rooms (we were overclassed in a junior suite for 7 nights). Very good quality of service. Restaurant expansive.

The San Clemente is an excellent hotel. On arrival we were upgraded to a junior suite which was superb as it was Valentines. The welcome was both warm and professional and we found the staff always on hand to help in any way. The boat ride from the hotel to venice is only 10 minutes and is very efficent and comfortable. A lovely touch was the availability of courtesy umbrellas for those rainy days. The free hot tub and sauna facilities in the spa were extremely welcome after a day walking the alleyways of Venice. With beautiful surroundings, excellent staff, superb rooms and Venice on your doorstep, I would reccommend the San Clemente to anyone. Although our stay was only 4 nights it was one of the best hotel expieriences we have had. Many thanks to Venere and the San Clemente

My partner and I spent 2 nights at the San Clemente Palace in late January and found the hotel to be perfect in every way. We stayed in a junior suite which turned out to be everything that we had expected and more. The huge all marble bathroom put the finishing touches on what was a fantastic bedroom. The breakfast was lovely, with everything to choose, from cereals to scrambled eggs. The 10 minute shuttle boat from st Marks Square to the hotel was something that I thought could be a negative, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience that made the 'venise experience' even more amazing. The boats run every 20 minutes and are extremely comfortable. Overall, a stay that we will never forget and a hotel that is right up there with the best in the world!

A magnificent hotel, the welcome we received warmed up a bitterly cold day. A fantastic location to enjoy the first class service and the beautiful building with lots of little treats and special touches to make our honeymoon complete.

San Clemente is on a little island about 7 minutes away from the hotspots of Venice. Water shuttles operate continuously to take you back and forth, but you'll find that after a long day of walking the time it takes between waiting for a shuttle and falling into your bed is a drawback, especially given that you've probably walked past several 5 star hotels on the way to the water shuttle. The hotel is beautiful, breakfast is amazing, and the grounds are quite impressive if you would rather spend your time playing golf or tennis than exploring venice. Water pressure is poor in the bathrooms, which is a surprise given how luxurious the bathrooms are. At night the water temperature for a bath can only be described as 'warm'. I was delighted to see that there was free internet access provided at several kiosks. On the night I actually needed them to print itenerary info all but one was broken. The concierge could only shrug his shoulders and apologize when i asked for assistance. Anyone with travel experience should know that in a five star hotel staff should -never- shrug their shoulders. Any hotel worth it's salt will offer up a computer in their offices, a laptop from a staff employee, or immediately call in a technician to investigate the problem. This is not snobbery; this is based on my personal experience with luxury hotels. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again because it wasn't spectacular enough to make me a regular patron.

The property is Amazing. Pool could be bigger. Dining facilities and Spa are an A+. When I checked in they upgraded me to a junior suite for free. The room was 3 times larger than a regular size and made me feel very comfortable. I would go back anytime. Way better than the Cipriani. But a little farther away from San Marco sq.

Magnificant hotel on its own private island. Beautiful, serene, refined and spacious. I can't recommend it enough. We have traveled extensively and feel that San Clemente Palace is one of the finest city hotels we have stayed at. We had a wonderful buffet breakfast but did not have dinner there, so we can not comment on the formal meals. The staff kindly upgraded us to a deluxe double and the view over the grounds and swimming pool area was very impressive. My young adult children stayed in an equally impressive standard double which had only a slightly less stunning view. We are planning to return for a longer stay.

The hotel and service was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The pool was very welcoming after a few hours touring Venice in 90 degree's heat. The food and drinks were a bit expensive but the quality/service and surroundings made up for that. Besides most things were expensive in Venice anyway so no big deal. I would definetly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Venice if you can afford that little extra as the level of service and rooms are excellent. The pool and grounds are another plus very peaceful after the crowds in Venice town.

My wife and I truely enjoyed our 2 night stay at the San Clemente. The room was lovely, the view from tthe room over the water to St Marks square was fabulous, the grounds were very peaceful and the breakfast was georgeous. The Maitre D in the breaKfast room was efficient, charming and funny. The hotel's resteraunts were decorated really nicely and luxuriously. The menus were inviting but we didn't eat there as we only had 2 nights and wanted to eat in the resteraunts off st Marks Square. On our last day we discovered the hotel's outside terrace serving lunch, this terrace overlooked the water to St Marks Square. The setting was magical and we would have loved to have had lunch there only we had to leave for home shortly after discovering it. The only negative thing we could say about the hotel is that it is very big!. From our room we had to walk a good distance to the Wellness Centre. At first we thought we would get lost in the hotel but we did get used to it and soon it was easy enough to find our way around. On checking in it would have been nice if someone had shown us around the hotel's various resteraunts and the bar and the wellness centre. However I can understand why they didn't as the distance to be covered in the hotel would have taken a while. Although for us this meant we had to try to find these facilities ourselves and we may have missed some facilities which were available to us. A really nice touch by the hotel was to provide a gift of bottled water each night. This was left at each side of the bed. This would have cost us 14 euros had we taken it form the mini bar. On the topic of cost, the mini bar prices were very high. The shuttle to and from the hotel was very efficient. It ran every 20 mins until 9.00pm and then every 40 mins until 1.20am. After 1.20am you could telephone the hotel and they would send the boat to fetch you. We didn't stay out past this time so we didn't have the privilege of testing this service. I woul
