Pensione Seguso - Venice

I was disappointed as I had heard good things about this hotel. Having to pay an extra 1.50 euro for a bath towel was not expected! Our alloted hand towels were not even replaced each day. It was said to have old world charm - the old world was there but not much charm. Does it have new owners? For 163 euros per night for a twin room with shared facilities I think we were overcharged

Very kind welcome and big help on all kinds of questions (finding restaurants and churches on the town map, extensive research over the Internet on bus, boat and train schedules) being generous of their time. Extremely nice people !

The location was fantastic for seeing all of Venice! The single room I had was basic with a very narrow and short bed but it was adequate. The breakfast was not worth having but as I say the location made up for most of this.

The rooms are old and not in very good condition. The floor was dirty. Breakfast was very meager. Personnel were nice, but the building is in need of reconditioning and the breakfast requires a significant upgrade. No internet service available. No TV in room. I am a regular visitor to Venice, and although I prefer to stay on the Zattere, where this Pensione is located, I'll certainly find somewhere else next time.

Relationship between price and quality excellent for venice; very nice room, very pretty hotel, antique furniture, atmosphere like in a thomas mann novel, very friendly employees, very nice surroundings. critics: coffee was undrinkable, very bad quality of espresso and filter coffee!

Nice hotel, friendly people, good location, easy to walk to from the water taxi.

This hotel is conveniently located near the Zatere Vaporetto stop, a short walk to the Bridge at L'Acedemia and easily within a 15-20 minute walk to Sam Marco Square or Rialto Bridge. An additional advantage was the fact that they were "off the beaten path" so we were not surrounded by crowds of people at night. Outside our window we had a view of the small canal on which the hotel sits, the larger on off to the right and a quaint pedestrial way running right and left across the small canal. This Pension is also ver convenient to a grocery store (supermercato) about 10 minutes away where we picked up bread, meat, cheese, wine, etc for nice lunches. If you waly to the right past Zatere Stop to the next canal and turn right, there is a very nice wine shop about 250 meter from the turn. There were 6 in our group (5 adults and one young child, 3 rooms) and we had a wonderful time and appreciated the hospitality of the hotel employees. One caution to travellers arriving by air, plese give yourself enough time to get to the airport. One of our party flew in (we took the train) and took the water transport to the airport from Zatere. It took 85 minutes so please factor this into your time estimate.

The room was very nice, clean, well heated, and spacious. View from the room was great. Skeleton key door lock was a bit challenging. Bathroom had no shower, only bath tub, but was clean and everything worked. Breakfast was included and was quite good. Like much of Venice, the hotel's front door was a few inches deep in water when the tide was high. Bring or buy boots! The staff was friendly and helpful. Would recommend this place as a good value.
