We cancelled another reservation to stay at this hotel. The owner and staff are truly great and location and public areas are rare in Venice. The price for quality cannot be beat.

Fantastic hotel in quite and unique surroundings. While the rooms are pricy, the service and comfort are excellent and generous. The hotel makes a stay in Venice authentic and complete! Can only recomand and will go there again myself.

Lovely but faded hotel. Could use a little polish and a little friendlier staff. In fact ANY attention from the staff would have been nice. Anything I asked for seemed like an intrusion. I would not stay here again.

To experience the real Venice, you must stay at this absolutely gorgeous hotel, a real Venician Palazzo. It takes you back in time. The Palazzo also has a small garden, which is unique in the centre of Venice. All the landmarks are close by, just perfect!

We loved our brief stay here. The welcome on arrival couldn't be better. We were shown to our room, where a very pleasant sparkling wine was waiting, and the room itself was beautiful. We had the quad room, with a large double and two single, sofa-type beds. The hotel is very well located in a quiet backstreet, but just a short walk from all the "must-see" locations and being just off the Grand Canal gives easy access to Vaporetto routes. We had driven down to Venice after a skiing holiday and only had one night here, but it was enough to give the girls a taste of Venice (I can recommend the Tronchetto Parking too). We loved this hotel and will re-book for our next visit!

Palazzo Abadessa was probably our favorite hotel during our third trip to Italy. At this time work is being done on the canal that runs by the hotel so, yes, there is some construction noise (but we didn't want to sleep in in Venice so it was a none issue to us when it started about 8:00 am) but I know they were willing to accommodate a family that wished to move to the other side of the building. That being said, the room was lovely - not huge, but elegant and clean. The staff was very gracious, the setting with the garden was breathtaking, the breakfast was bountiful (next to Lugano Dante, the biggest I've ever seen), and the location perfect for exploring a quieter side of Venice. We would return gladly.

It was a great start to our 10 day vacation of Italy. We were going on a tour the next day and wanted to splurge on our first night. It was our 15th Anniversary and they gave us a bottle of wine, fruit basket, and candy in our room. The room was everything I could imagine and more. It was a like a fairy tale. The drinks and treats in the evening were wonderful and after jet lag from our trip we did not even need to go out to dinner. We forgot our passport at the front desk when we checked out and the manager was going to bring it to our next hotel after his shift. The only down side is the directions on their website were very hard to follow. We got lost for about an hour. The hotel is in a non tourist part of town and at night it is very dark. I wish we could have stayed longer.

My wife stayed one night on at Palazzo Abadessa on our honeymoon. It was wonderful: great service at a beautiful hotel. Staff explained the history of the building without being overbearing- they also helped with meal and further travel arrangements. Outstanding and highly recommended.

Palazzo Abadessa was the perfect way to end our stay in Italy. The rooms were as pretty as portrayed by the pictures. The staff was helpful, marking every location we ask about on the map and providing great suggestions for dinners. The breakfast was very inviting and just as tasteful, especially if you have a sweettooth. I actually recommended the suite for my parent's 29th wedding anniversary next month.

The only hotel on our trip that had decent bread for breakfast. The hotel is perfect for a stay in Venice -- beautifully located, attentive staff, and the building itself is 16th century, carefully updated. The garden is serene, the small canal it backs onto is charming.

It is a perfect accomodation for your honeymoon. It´s a very romantic old palazzo. It´s well located and the stuff is extraordinary nice. It was even better than the descriptions I read before. It´s real luxury. At our next journey to venice we will definetely try to book a room there again.

Palazzo Abadessa is a very quiet and beautiful place. I think it's perfect for an unforgetable weekend in Venise.

Charming hotel. Every thing I consider being extremeluxury : a few rooms, family like, like being invited to stay in a venitian family for a few days. Great breakfast! One advise : the earlier you get there, the bigger the choice between croissants, whole wheat bread, white bread, tarts and cakes, fruit salad...! Wonderful garden in front of the hotel, very romantic. For the location : ideal if you want to be near a street were there is venitian life more than tourist shops. You are in the middle of students and mothers carrying their babies. And yet, very near from the highest points of the city! Dont miss the Rialto market just in the other side of the grand canal.

A lovely hotel with first class service in a beautiful and genuine Venetian palace. Arriving by water taxi is the only way to arrive, even at 23:30. A small intimate hotel where drinks are laid on by the owner and staff each evening. The whole place has a very friendly atmosphere away from the crowds. The hotel is centrally located in a quiet location but only a few hundred metres from the Grand Canal. All areas of the city are within easy walking distance. An ideal place to stay when in Venice.

only 12 rooms in this upscale B & B with intelligent warm generous service....they didnt bother to charge me for minibar waters or a phone call home...they never blinked when my husband requested 5 cappucinos at breakfast.....the rooms are really odd and old but lovely and everything in Venice is like that......however, the air conditioning really works and so does the hot water which is more than I can say for many places I have been in Italy which think they are four stars.......the outdoor garden area was lovely to have and the dock for a watertaxi from Venice airport was a real luxury.....I never felt the need to go in a tourist gondola because we went in that great water taxi.....also we used the traghetto gondolas which cost 0.50 per person to ferry you (standing) across the canal near Ca D'oro......we spent 6 nights at Palazzo Abedessa and we were heartily sorry to leave, they will get you reservations to any ristorante, event, they will do anything to be helpful....I cant wait to return. Venice was pretty crowded but never felt squeezed at our palazzo and it's a real plus NOT to be in San Marco area.......nice a quiet (for Italy)

The Palazzo is a wonderful place to stay. We arrived during a terrible storm and were greeted with an umbrella at the private dock and immediately given a glass of wine to relax. The room we stayed in was 2 story and huge. Breakfast buffet was excellent. The Palazzo is located not far from the Rialto Bridge and is in a nice quiet neighborhood. We would definitely recommend the Palazzo to anyone planning a trip to Venice.

This hotel provides a venetian equivalent of the boutique hotel, with far more character and the real feeling of a personal service. Evening cocktails for the guests was a nice touch, and overall service could not be faulted. The only downpoint is the attractiveness of the garden to mosquitos in the evening.

This hotel was amazing. We only stayed in Venice for one night but I wished I had stayed longer, I didn't want to leave. The hotel itself is beautiful. The photos of the rooms that they show on the website are of the larger suites but I was not disappointed with our room. The other photos of the hotel are pretty accurate. We were told the ceilings in our room were original from the 1500s and they were beautiful. We had a corner room with a view of one of the canals. The location was also great. It was pretty centrally located and being that we were only there for one night it worked out perfectly. The staff spoke enough english and the owners made you feel like you were family staying in their home.

From the moment we arrived at the water gate we were made to feel at home in the fantastic and beautiful surroundings of the hotel. Maria Luisa Dargent and her team made us feel like friends, and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are decorated like a fairy tale and are ideal as a relaxing base for exploring Venice. The location provides easy access by foot or Vaporetto to anything you may want to see. Our best holiday yet. Thank you!

This was an absolutely beautiful place, in a real Venetian Palazzo which has been restored beautifully to it's original grandeur and beauty. The staff and owners are friendly and incredibly helpful. Perfect location if you want to explore Venice in just two days. We received a very warm welcome. Before getting the key for the room a drink was offered and we got an excellent Prosecco. Same procedure next day when we came back after hours of strolling through a wintry Vencice. But then we preferred a warm tea! We particularly want to thank Madalena (?) for her attentiviness and friendliness. The Palazzo is a wonderful building, we very much enjoyed our room as well as the public areas, full of history and giving you the feeling to be in an other era. Good breakfast, wide selection of food which is not always the case in Italy. Attentive service. We would like to come back some time in summer to enjoy the garden, too, which unfortunately is not possible in winter time. All together: Highly recommendable!

A beautiful palace with a wonderful staff. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with friendliness and ultimate professionalism. The entry hall was jaw-dropping beautiful. We were exhausted upon arrival and were treated to tea, cookies, and cake in the beautiful dining area. The room was mid-range in price for the palace, and provided a view of the garden. It was perfect with antiques, Venetian glass light fixtures, and a huge wood-beamed ceiling (I caution anyone really tall -- the ceiling in this room was rather low). Next time I would stay in a 2nd floor room -- they are worth the extra cost just to come and go from off the gorgeous upstairs salon. The ceilings are higher, too, although they have plaster instead of the great beams. The host and hostess of the palace (the actual owners) were extremely friendly -- even providing a nice bottle of wine one evening before we went out to stroll the walkways of Venice. Truly a wonderful experience.

We had a wonderful stay at Palazza Abadessa. We arrived via the canal landing from the train station - a grand way to arrive and highly recommended. The palace is beautiful, the entry hall, the garden, and the antiques, all made you feel you were in a special place. We enjoyed a glass of delicious red wine in the garden before settling into our rooms. When my friend and I arrived, although we requested that the beds be separated in our room, they were not. Instead they gave us two rooms for the price of one! Our rooms were above the dining area which had a narrow staircase but was charming. We awoke to the smells of fresh bread baking. The best breakfast (fresh breads, and fresh cut fruit) we had in all 3 locations we stayed in Italy. The hotel had many guidebooks available for use including the one I had brought along. Suggestion - check with the hotel and save yourself the extra weight in your baggage. We got totally lost in Venice but I believe that is a part of its charm. I would definitely return to this hotel.

An excellent welcome at the hotel upon our arrival and a very enjoyable stay. Hosts were very helpful and hospitable throughout our visit. The hotel’s garden is certainly an asset, there are not many places in Venice to sit and enjoy some quiet refreshment. The hotel’s location is good as it is a short walk from a water-bus stop, and a pleasant walk, or waterbus ride, to Pizza S. Marco. So a good location. A hotel I will certainly recommend.

Staff was excellent, as was the breakfast in delightful garden. Our only complaint was the difficulty in locating. When one finally locates the tiny street it looks like a short deadend alley coming from the taxi station. Perhaps it would help if you supplied written directions from the water taxi station at Ca'Oro to supplement your map.

Dog and human Poo on path to hotel for days! They should clean that up! Look out for the owner, his looks are very angry towards weary guests entering his musem-like hotel. Poor air conditioning. Floor not ceaned well from previous guests, I cut my foot on broken glass. Enjoyable breakfast and garden. Not very easy to find. Morning kitchen noise, and a shared pretty window with the front desk made it feel a little unprivate. Can they hear us? We can hear them. The Palazzo Abbadessa was the highlight of our stay in Venice, and even in Italy. We were warmly welcomed at the hotel upon our arrival. Luca, Sinora Rossi's asst. showed us to our room and the pride which they have in their hotel was evident. The hotel was all that was promised and more. A grand palace which is decorated with beautiful antiques and frescos by the students of Tinteretto, who lived nearby. Our room was both elegant and comfortable and our 2 children (ages 6 & 8 were warmly welcome). Although the location was somewhat removed from the tourist areas, we found the short trip on the vaperetto a welcome diversion. If you arrive by train, save yourself 60 euros and skip the water taxi. Instead, take the vaperetto to Ca d'oro which his about 4 stops and then a very short walk to the hotel.

A enchanting, warm, welcoming hotel that combines an air of grand serenity with genuine warmth of welcome and lack of 'stuffiness'. A little difficult to find, despite having being faxed accurate details of how to arrive by water taxi, in fact the taxi 'driver' dropped us at Ca d'Oro, charged us a fortune and gave us inaccurate directions. we therefore missed out on what must be a particular delight of arriving in style at the hotels impressive canal entrance rather than dragging your suitcases down a side street!! Being slightly off the beaten track was wonderful but not so isolated as to be inconvenient. The boys would have been happy to sit all day eating their way through the mouthwatering breakfast buffet. The proprietors are some of the most charming, gentle and helpful that I have met and give the imoression that you are their personal guests for whom nothing is too much trouble. Grazie mille!

This is a genuine venetian palazzo with public areas superbly decorated and a lovely quiet garden. Very well located nearby Ca d'oro. The welcome is family-like and the service is excellent.

Very relaxed and extremely friendly - they welcome you into their home and you feel like a guest (almost part of the family), not a customer. The house is wonderful - it feels like a rather grand home, not a hotel (breakfast, but no restaurant which is good, because it forces you to eat out which is a must in Venice). The furniture is antique and beautiful with large oils lining the upstairs hall - gives it an "old small palace" atmosphere. It has one of only a few gardens in the area - really tranquil, but only a minute's walk from the hustle & bustle. 5 mins walk to Rialto Bridge and c15 min walk to St Mark's Sq. Only stayed a couple of nights, but could have stayed a lot longer!

Very pleasant welcoming. Atmosphere particularly queute and personalized. Very charming. A four stars hotel "at home".

This hotel is an absolute gem! The garden is an added bonus and it was a treat to be able to eat breakfast outside in such lovely surroundings. The owner and manager are both truly wonderful people and their warmth and personal attention to detail take 'customer service' to another level. It was like being welcomed into someone's home - with all the benefits of a 4 star hotel! I am already planning my return trip.
