hotel moderno charged me 7 euros(+/-$9) for a phone call(+/- 45seconds) to 892010 alitalia numero verde to confirm a flight from vce to cta . my room was facing via terra di spagnia .the windows shatters where falling a part ,the windows itself not sound proof, even if my room was on the second floor the noise of the people talking on the street was as they ware next to your bed .do not try to bring heavy luggage it would be very tough to carry them up the narrow turning steps. the narrow hallway is manageable(we had only a small carry on bag)the room/bathroom was clean, room service was good, the wall parer was peeling off, water stains, and peeling paint above and the around shower stall, the shower doors needed to be rehung prior to every use.For The price you can`t find any better in Venice close to every thing, special the walk back to the train station,or piazzale roma to take the bus back to the airport.

This was the worst hotel in all of Venice and all of Europe!! Death trap! I don't think you can call it a hotel, it was a dump! We stayed 1 night only because we were lost for 2 hours and had no choice. We left the next day and they made us pay as a "NO SHOW", so paid for 2 rooms and would NOT stay. Moved to Belle Epoque and LOVED it! RUN from this one!

We went straight from the train station to the hotel with no problem in location. The only complaint we'd have was the wetness, and narrow, rather nasty entry. Staff was most helpful in giving directions and there was always someone who spoke English when we needed help. Location is great for resturants, getting to train station, vaporettas, etc. The air conditioning was GREAT!

Reception is in the hotel beneath named Zecchini, way to the entrance of Hotel Moderno is very, very small and wet on the floor(aircondition?),breakfast is o.k.for Italy, in Lista di Spagna just on the other side of the hotel is a very good pasticceria (called Del Mas, has excellent Capuccino for 0,80 Euro!!!) and very good croisants etc.)

Well located hotel. The entrance is by a "hole" in a street wall.... but inside it is new, good furniture, but very small. Not cheap, but the location is worth.

I was confusing initially to find out that Hotel Moderno was actually run by the hotel next to it, so that is where we had to check in. After checking in, one has to enter a very narrow walkway between bldgs to access the rooms in Hotel Moderno. Our teenage kids loved the sofa bed conversion to bunk beds set up. The bathroom was very clean but the curtains were see through from the next bldg. Overall, our stay was pleasant and the employees were kind.

Room was airconditioned. Breakfast was included but held in a room the size of a bathroom for ALL guests in 5 separate hotels. Even thouigh we booked Moderno we stayed in another hotel owned by the same people - very confusing. Breakfast staff had limited english and even less people skills.

Great room, within walkind distance of the bus and train station. You only have to cross 3 bridges. The only confusing thing is that there are two different signs for the same hotel. Hotel Moderno is to the left of Gino's. The rooms were very clean and spacious. It does get loud if your room faces the main street because it is a main causeway.

My family and I were appalled at the location of the Hotel---if you want to call it that. The entrance to Hotel Moderno is a 2 foot wide dark and dingy alley. I luggages almost did not fit through the rat hole. The Hotel rate certainly did not match up with the Hotel. The dark alley finally leads you to the door of the Hotel where we had to climb up 3 flights of stairs with our heavy luggage to the rooms. There was not Hotel assistance and no elevator. Hotel Moderno shares a small lobby and small breakfast room with the neigboring Hotel Zecchini. Guests were actually waiting on line to eat breakfast. At a rate of 140 Euros per night ($180) my family and I believe we were cheated. The Hotel ruined our experience in such a beautiful city. If I ever visit Venice again I would stay clear and far from Hotel Moderno. The website was deceiving since it mentions that the Hotel is refurbished. If that is refurbished I would have hated to see it when it wasn't refurbished.

This was a fantastic find. Not quite sure where 'moderno' is but the hotel where they put us was wonderful. It was a couple of doors down from where we checked in but really nice. The room was furnished beautifully, had a great breakfast and all the staff friendly and helpful. This was the best place I've stayed in Venice. Very close to the train station, I highly recommend this hotel (and I'm not easily impressed!)

I had the worst 3 nights of my life at Hotel Moderno. All the employees are rude (and when I say ALL I mean it). I can even give some names: Adriana, Aliona, Sandra. They were very prejudice with me and my friends because we are asian. They treated us like garbage. The hotel is expensive, the beakfast is terrible. The pictures in the website decieve us. The rooms looked huge in the pictures and we stayed in the smallest room ever! I'm very disappointed at Venere. I trusted you to book my hotel and instead of having fun in my vacation I had lots of problems. I hope that, in the near future, Venere chooses better their hotels because Hotel Moderno is by far the worst hotel I've ever been to! I would never recomend Hotel Moderno to anyone, not even to my worst enemy.

Very close to the train station. You have to go to the Zucchini Hotel to check in and get your key. Rooms down a nasty, drippy alley (2 1/2 feet wide), No elevator. Small room compared to the other triples stayed at in Italy. Overall clean and small, and could have been a little cheaper than 110 euro for the triple room. (3 college students)

Pour guère plus cher, on peut avoir un 3 étoiles bien supérieur. really too much noïse. a poor hotel. not for good holidays.

The room was air-conditioned, the bathroom up-to-date, the location great, but the room itself was very small. The kids were on a bunk bed, we were on a full-size bed. There was about two feet of room around the full-size bed--that's it! Not enough room to even open the suitcase on the floor. The breakfast was great, and even included scrambled eggs--wonderful for an American! It also included cereal, toast, bread, yogurt, juice, milk, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Overall, it was a great hotel.

Be cautious if you reserve a room at the Moderno - on arrival, myself and two other arriving guests were bruskly redirected to another nearby hotel given the excuse that the Moderno was overbooked. This was quite unsettling and unwelcome after a long day of travel and the difficulty finding the entrace to the Moderno (which is hidded down a very narrow passageway between two buildings). Fortunately, the hotel Carratoni which we were moved to was quite nice, the rooms comfortable (but very small), the staff was pleasant and efficient, and the made-to-order full breakfast was delightful in the nice breakfast room with ample windows & good air conditioning. I would strongly recommend travellers avoiding the Moderno and going directly to the Carratoni.

The Price was excellent 110 euro/Night The Location was good as well The service was good and friendly. Thanks Martina. The Only thing I have to say is I wished the Air Conditioner was working better, it did ot cool the room as desired. One criteria for booking this Hotel was because of the Air condition. We had to leave the window open because it was to hot, doing that we did not get to sleep due to the noise coming from the people leaving the night club down below. Never the less I would stay there again but only if thr room faces the rear and if the Air condition is working better. Ingo Laatsch

The Moderno is situated on a busy street, its rooms are small but perfectly adequate. Breakfast is good although the room can get busy if you leave it too late. It is located about 300metres from the train station and 150metres from the vaporetto stations on the Grande Canal which give easy access to the rest of the island. There are plenty of bars and affordable restaurants within a few minutes walk. If I go back to Venice I would stay at the Moderno again.

This is probably the worst hotel room I have ever had the pleasure of staying. You actually check-in at the hotel lobby next door... there is no check in at this property. Then you make your way down this tiny, tiny alley about 30 feet (if you have big shoulders you have to turn sideways) to a stair case that would challenge a mountain goat. We first decided on room 10... Actually in the attic... the heat did not work and made an odd howling noise... we then choose room 4... You at least had enough room to change you mind...the furniture had to be from the Marco Polo collection... original... complete and not reupholstered... sort of an early whore house style....the wall paper was peeling off the walls.. The good things were the bathrooms in both rooms that I saw... very well done, very nice tile and clean...the sheets were clean and the bed was ok.. and the lady at the desk was very nice. We were just there overnight waiting on a flight. Conclusion... if you need a bed and a shower close to the train station... it is a good price... And you have a story to tell when you get home...Have I told you about the actual whore house in Casablanca when I had to sleep on the floor...(didn't know when I checked in) well that is for another review...
