Very old hotel, our room was located on the top of a restaurant and smell of food, specially fish got inside our room. Neighborhood is not the best one, but is safety.

The hotel is located in a very nice zone of the town and you can reach any interestng place of Venice by walking. The rooms are elegant and perfectly clean. The only negative aspect is the noise: the walls are very thin you can easily hear the people in the other rooms, and at night this has been quite annoying. Anyway, I've had a very pleasant stay and I recommend this hotel

we stayed 3 days, the location is very convenient, with a 10 min. walking from the train station. The hotel is clean and quiet.

A great hotel located in the Ghetto within steps of the Chabad minyon and a 3 minute walk from Gam Gam. Hotel was far beyond my expectations. The only problem that I can think of is that some of the staff had a very poor working knowledge of English. I would reccommend this hotel to anyone seeking a nice Venice hotel.

This was our first time in Venice and therefore this hotel. The hotel was within easy reach of the main rail station. Rooms very clean and bathroom well designed with some pleasing lighting. For us, the lift (elevator) was a must in view of our baggage. Beware of the uneven paveing stones when venturing out along the cannals as one of us had a fall that affected what we were able (unable) to do for the rest of our stay. The hotel staff were most helpful following this incident. The restaurant next door was excellent and good value. The area itself was quiet although during our stay there was preperation for a special week long series of 'concerts/plays' - something we missed out on!!

Hotel qui a permis de découvrir et vivre Venise autrement, loin de la foule et des sentiers battus. Un emplacement priviligégié au coeur du ghetto.
France, Nov 2007
It's location is ideal and off the beaten track in an area where one gets a flavor of every day living in Venice. Furthermore, it has access to the major Vaporetto lines, so visiting the island(s) is quick and convenient. I will definitely chose this location next time I come to Venice.

Within 15-20 mins walking distance or short hop on water bus from Piazzale Roma. Hotel is 5 min walk to Grand Canal water bus but also 5 min walk in opposite direction to water bus for Murano. Situated on a quiet square in Jewish quarter. Outside was shabby compared to photos and took a while to recognise on arrival. Rooms inside spacious and immaculate with good size bathroom but lacking character and almost 'corporate'. All rooms had a view on a quiet canal or the square. The bed mattress was rock hard which may suit some and not others. Staff were pleasant enough but not chatty or helpful with suggestions on where to go and what to do. Breakfast was minimal. Not being able to check out before 8.00am caused us a problem as the sign advising this was not obvious. Some lovely restaurants locally but you have to book the good ones!

A great location, not many tourists in the Ghetto. The local children play in the courtyard at the end of the day. Our room had windows on the canal behind the building and was very quiet. Our only complaint would be that the shower had no curtain and caused some problems when showering. Very clean and pleasant otherwise.

This hotel is located on a lovely place, away from tourists (which is good !). Price was a little bit high, but this was mainly due to the Mostra, which took place during our stay. Negative point : we had to leave early on Monday morning (4.30pm), but we were not able to take a shower because no water was coming from the taps ! Was this due to a problem or was it intentional ? We will never know (the night keeper was not really surprised...) !

I booked this hotel after reading all the reviews and turned out to be a very good decision. Despite its historic surroundings, it is very nice and quiet area which seperates you from all the crowds and noises. One good thing is that there are two good restaurants, one is at just next door and recently opened, very friendly staff with good English. The meal we had there was one of the best and reasonably priced. Then there is another one (Al Faro if I remembered correctly)only around the corner, we had the best Bruschetta in our whole italian trip. Distance wise is pretty good, walking distance to the train station or Piazzle Rome...we walked from hotel to different major sites all the time or just get lost in the small alley.. People complained about breakfast, but that is what locals do, we did not think that is a big deal... highly recommened...

The room was large, pleasant and clean but a fountain in the piazza outside was very noisy and when we shut the windows found that the air conditioner would only heat. Staff were polite and helpful except for the man on night duty regarding the air conditioner problem. Breakfast was insufficient with stale croissants and the worst coffee in Italy. The location is great if you want to be away from the San Marco area and there is a lot of interesting history in the ghetto area.

We stayed 6 nights at this lovely hotel. Very modern, clean and quiet. Rooms were spacious and well equipped. Staff helpful with advice about local restaurants, general information and directions, etc. Lovely quiet area with art galleries in the square and just minutes from the bustling Strada Nova.

Considering the high hotel price in Venice, I think this was an exceptionally nice hotel. With spacious bathtub and a nice room and convenience place. The staff was very friendly. This hotel made us our trip to Venice unforgettable! The breakfast was a bit disappointing (only bread and butter) but I will sure to return.

Me and my girlfriend had a great holiday, this is a very nice hotel, I'm glad that we chose a hotel that wasn't right in the centre of San Marco - the surroundings are nice and quiet and it is the perfect base for exploring Venice.
USA, Sep 2006
This place is very clean and the rooms are lovely. It was a bit difficult to locate but that's just Venice...not the hotel. My only issue with this place is that there was a 1:30am curfew. They said nothing is open in Venice at that time any way but there are and I feel that for the price, I should be able to enter 24/7. It's not a hostel, its a hotel.

Locanda del Gheto was an ideal choice of hotel for us. We were looking for a lower priced hotel and Locanda del Gheto has a great location in a quiet area not too popular with tourists with a good selection of local resturants, including one next door. Hotel breakfast and facilities are limited, but is compensated by friendly staff and well sized clean rooms.

This was a real find. The hotel is in a quiet and atmospheric square away from the toursit bustle but only minutes from a vaporetto stop, shops and restaurants. The reception is small but bright and welcoming, the bedroom and bathroom were very pleasant, spacious and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was simple but adequate. We'll be back! Highly recommended.

The only negative about this charming hotel is location. It is a 30 minute walk to St. Mark's square. There is a near by vaporetto stop but the vaporetto can be a slow trip. It is a 10 minute walk to the train station.

For a quiet location but not too far away from the Centre, this hotel is perfect. However, a little over-priced in view of the poor breakfast on offer.

great location if you want to be in the ghetto. It was only a few minutes walk to the nearest water bus and 10 minutes to the train station. Only real negative is that the breakfast is real sparse and while most of the help was very friendly one or two weren't 100%.

This is a very quaint hotel in a very quiet location. Very easy to get to all parts of Venice with Gulie boat stop. The breakfast was very simple - just rolls, butter, jam, juice and coffee - which was fine for our tastes. The tour of the Ghetto was very informative and we recommend taking the time to do this. Staff was very friendly and helpful with dining recommendations. Wake up calls were timely. Preferrred this to the more tourist - foot traffic areas of St. Mark's and other more familiar places. Would stay again. The only difficulty was initially finding the inn. When you step off the boat at Gulie, you need to go to the left on the main walkway, just up to the next corner and turn right. This is dirrectly after the pharmacy. then proceed forward untill you get to the open courtyard. You will need to cross one bridge just prior to the courtyard. Then the Locanda Del Ghetto is on the right.

We really enjoyed staying here. It was nice to be away from the crowds near St Marks, yet close enough (in Venice terms) to it. It was also nice not having to drag baggage over too many bridges to get to the stay. We were able to get concert tickets right from the desk, which was great. Overall, a very nice stay in Venice.

An oasis of comfort and tranquillity for two visitors from Ireland. Our request for a room overlooking the square was promptly granted, and two excellent restaurants within easy strolling distance recommended. We have no complaints at all - and how rarely one can say that ...

This hotel was great. My husband and I spent 3 nights there and would defintely recommend it to anyone visiting Venice. The location was great with lots of history. The room was restful and beautifully decorated. The shower was quite small w/no door, but other than that this place was really a great value for Venice. It was very close to the train station (walking or Vaporetto). The staff was very friendly and helpful. They recommended GREAT restaurants that were not touristy and were a great value too. We highly recommend Locando del Ghetto

Locanda del Ghetto is a work in progress - it needs some more decorations, and a better breakfast offering ( currently only a couple rolls/ some jam and some tea). The hotel is REALLY far from most of the sites ( especially when dealing with Acqua alta). The front desk staff is not very helpful

It was a very pleasant stay. The hotel is convenient to the railway station, about 10 minute walk with bags. No real advantage to take the water bus from the railway station to the hotel. About a 15 minute walk to St Marks square and other sites. People spoke fairly good English and were very helpful.

This is a lovely hotel but like most hotels in Venice, quite hard to find if you dont have a really good map. It is about 5-10 mins walk from both the train station and the coach station if you know where you are going, and around 30 mins walk from St Marks Sq. The staff were the best thing about the hotel - just lovely - incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was basic (the croissants were a bit 'nothing' - not crispy and buttery as they can be, and the bread rolls were a bit dry, but it sufficed). I had been warned about this by other reviews and it was OK. Because there are no carpets anywhere, and noise carries around the building, and the walls between rooms are not very sound proof (but this is not unusual in hotels). The windows were sound proofed, though, so we heard no noise at all from traffic on the canal. Overall, mostly because the staff were so nice, I'd recommend this hotel (and I am quite fussy), but I'd bring ear plugs just in case.

We really enjoyed our stay at Locanda del Ghetto. The room is very nice and clean. Service is excellent. Breakfast is simple (coffee and croissants), but that is alright by us because we were eager to go out to explore Venice anyway. The neighborhood is very good, far away from the maddening tourist crowd, yet close and convenient enough to get anywhere you want. The local restaurants are some of the best I found in Venice, especially Osteria de Rioba (recommended by Christiana who works at the front desk). Thanks to Christiana, Alessandra and everyone there, our stay was very welcome and pleasant. We highly recommend this hotel.

This is a friendly, clean and very well run hotel. We arrived very late at night and when we mentioned that we had not eaten since lunchtime the night porter made us coffee and croissants. The staff were all very helpful. Our alarm clock call the morning we left came on time. Our room was beautiful. If I have any criticism it would be that the breakfast room is a bit small and the quality and quantity of the breakfast could be improved. Other than that I loved my stay in Locanda del Ghetto and will recommend it to others.

An ideal hotel to stay in when visiting Venice. It is tucked away in a part of town really only frequented by locals and the occasional 'lost' tourist which gives it a true feeling of what Venice is really like. The staff are very accommodating and the rooms were excellent - if you get the option ask for the rooms at the front overlooking the square. Breakfast was the usual fare but the hotel is located very close to a strip of exceptional restaurants which do not simply offer any non-Italians the menu turistico! Overall I would certainly recommend that visitors used this new hotel as it provided the perfect base from which to explore this unique city.
