In a very central, yet quiet location in Venice, Massimiliano and Giancarlo welcome guests to Locanda Armizio hotel, a former residence for Venetian merchants nowadays offering six delightfully appointed guestrooms.
The property is situated in campo San Silvestro, one of the city's most beautiful and characteristic squares. It lies just minutes from the Rialto Bridge and an area of the Grand Canal which was once used to load and unload goods arriving from all over the world to be sold at the Rialto Market. (As a matter of fact, the ancient meaning of the word armizio is dock.)
The hotel's close proximity to the San Silvestro water bus stop, served 24-hours a day, allows quick and easy access to the rest of the city.
Official Classification of the Provincia di Venezia (administrative authority): Town House Suites 1st Category.
Due to the tipology and the level of services offered, Venere.com compares the property to a 3 star Hotel.

Excellent location, quiet but very central, with helpful staff and very spacious rooms. Stayed in the off-season, and the room was very good value for money.

Our room was fine, but the shower in the bathroom was not all that easy to use. The breakfast was a standard continental breakfast, and the only decaf coffee was instant. Our room was quite dark, even on bright days. I believe the number was 3, so avoid it if possible. The location is great, though we had to ask a couple of people where it was as the entrance is in an alley. All in all we were satisfied, but not thrilled.

Very friendly staff, spoke fluent English. Breakfast was good, served in our own room. Shower wasn't really clean, and had low water pressure. A/C worked, thankfully. No English TV channels. Very typical Venetian rooms--not the "touristy" type of big-chain hotels--but that was part of the charm!

Perfect location, nice rooms, but the bathrooms need some improvements.
France, Apr 2009
Despite I booked weeks ahead, we were bumped because they were overbooked (and the woman at the front desk lied to us by saying unfixable plumbing problem with the SPECIFIC room we had booked). We were sent to their (presumably) sister hotel, Locanda Arts, which is located in the Academia area. At the first look, it looked like a 2-star hotel. The guy at the front desk speaks good English and was friendly. BUT, there were so many bed bugs in the room at night!! It's disgusting! I got bit all over my body by the time I woke up at 1am and realized that they were not mosquitos! My memory of Venice will be forever marred by the horrible experience in this hotel. BEWARE!

This boutique hotel is ideally located beside the Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge, and within walking distance of all the main attractions. It offers good value for money in an expensive city.

Wonderful location on Campo San Silvestro, in the vicinity of the Rialto bridge. But too many defects for the price paid: One of the 4 beds was in very poor condition (even for a 9-year old child; one hôtel employee watching TV loudly late in the evening outside our room; bulbs missing in some lamps...

Stay in Locanda Armizo was amazing. Maria was very welcoming and she helped us for minute details. Even though we dint know common language we managed well with sign language. We had a proper flat with cooking gas and other facilities so it was very helpful. Thanks for all the help

I will definitely stay here again if returning to Venice. The hotel is very small and the personalized service incredible. Continental breakfast was included and brought to our room personally at the exact time we indicated to them. The location is the best possible, on the water just a couple hundred meters from the Realto Bridge.

Very convenient location for exploring Venice. Friendly staff. Good facilities in room. If you don't need public facilities in hotel and don't mind getting breakfast in your room, then this is a good place to stay.

Very good position, good area and so close to the vaporetto. Noisy bar downstairs but could close windows and use air con to keep cool! Staff very understanding when my card was refused on payment, and I couldn't pay until later in the day. Lovely being able to have breakfast in bed!

My wife and I had the room over the street. With the windows open, we could hear people late into the night talking and walking as they passed under us. One thing we enjoyed was being a short walk from the Grand Canal and vaporetto. The room was larger than we expected. The employees and owner were very accommodating. Be prepared to carry luggage up one floor.

This B&B is in the oldest part of Venice, the Rialto area, near the Rialto Bridge! You feel as if you are taken back in time when you go into the walkway to the large door of the building. Stone pavement, stone/brick walls, dark, though very safe walkway that takes you, in one direction 30 seconds to the Grand Canal or in the other direction to Campo di San Silvestri which is a large ancient square. We were welcomed by staff and the owner, who were all very pleasant and who spoke English very well. We stayed in a quad room which had a double and two twin beds. The room was clean and accomodated us and our small amount of luggage very well. We were served our breakfast in our room. It was good and consisted of coffee/tea/juice, croissants/pastry and rolls with preserves and butter. We were satisfied and healthy! When I come back to Venice I will definately stay here again!

Location is fantastic! Can walk everywhere. In a cute square, rooms were gorgeous. We had our luggage lost by the airline our whole 3 night stay and the staff went out of their way to assist us in following up our luggage claim with the airport - extremely helpful! Would highly reccommend.

Hotel staff nice. The location was nice, just off the Grand canal and very close to a bus stop and the Rialto Bridge. It wasn't spectacular, but good for the price and location. The room was large with an updated bathroom. One drawback, no elevator.

The hotel is fine if you're only staying for a day or two. Really close to train station, as well as the taxi stop and Rialto Bridge and shopping. The hotel is really a bed & breakfast, w/no dining room or common areas. The hotel's entrance is from a not-too-lively piazza, and there's no lift. Room is clean but small; same with bathroom. Staff are okay but not really enthusiastic. Not a bad value for Venice, but you get what you pay for. I would recommend for transit tourists; not for long term stays.

A really good choice due to the price and the location, if you do not want a window view. Easy access, two steps from San Silvestro N° 1 bus stop, Rialto, and some excellent wine bars. We just had been surprised to be welcomed by a chinese receptionist, breaking a little the charm to come to venice.

Even though the hotel is near Rialto bridge, we had to stay at the sister hotel, which was close to the academy. Actually, our room was in sort of a normal building 1 min away from the hotel. The room itself was nice, but it was sooo cold at night, because the heating system wasn't working properly. Beside that, we enjoyed our stay.

My mother and I really enjoyed our stay at Locando Armizo. We had a large twin room with a small balcony overlooking the square and the staff were very helpful. Our room was over a small bar so it was a little noisy at night-time but it didn't keep us awake. The hotel is around the corner from a vaporetto (water bus) stop and within walking distance of the Rialto market so we were able to walk to most of the main sites. The price was excellent and I would be happy to recommend Locando Armizo.

We did not stay in the hotel but in a beautiful apartment next door. We pretended to be Venetians for 4 days!!! Lovely terrazzo floors and windows looking over Piazza San Silvestro, though the high heel shoe wearer upstairs was a little noisy at times. Fantastic location 21 paces from the Grand Canal and just 4 minutes from Rialto Bridge. Lovely to have a traghetto so handy to cross the Canal too. Mediocre breakfast which was sometimes late, sometimes missing cutlery, sometimes missing cups!! The apartment had a kitchen but not well stocked with utensils or equipment, and use of it was discouraged. But with so many reasonably priced restaurants so handy why bother with a kitchen!! The Manager kindly brought our breakfast early on our last day.

Locanda Armizo was wonderful. Very conveniently located within meters of the Rialto Bridge. The staff was excellent. There is no common breakfast room, so breakfast is served to your room in the mornings, at a time specified by you, the guest. There was a disco close by, but the noise stopped at a reasonable hour. Lovely. We would definitely stay again.

We had no trouble finding the hotel and were quite happy with the location. We were given an apartment next door to the hotel entrance and were thrilled to find that we had a kitchen with all the necessary utensils. Our room was delightful, with marble floors and more of a homey feel than a typical hotel room. It was actually better than what I was expecting based on the web pictures. There was enough space to comfortably fit the two beds for the kids as well as a dining table and chairs (plus our bed). Breakfast was served in our room -- choice of coffee, tea, or chocolate and some bread and cheese -- and was good (by Italian breakfast standards). Our only real complaint was that one of the kids' beds was a rollaway that was a bit uncomfortable. Fortunately, the thrill of Venice and other good features of the hotel helped our daughter feel great about it and sleep soundly.

It was quite difficult to find this hotel without firm directions from someone before you go - get them to write it out exactly. It was a bit concerning when we took a wrong turn when tryng to find the hotel and then were confronted with graffitti on wall that said "kill tourists" and when we wanted to ask locals for directions we were treated like "dumb aliens". When we finally found the hotel (just around corner from where we were looking all along) the staff were very friendly and we were given our own private apartment about four blocks away from main hotel - the apartment was excellent, a home away from home with lots of extras you dont usually get at a hotel such as a washing machine. The area was good away from most of the 'touristy' bits of venice yet close nough to walk - if you can wind your way through the labyrinth of canal laneways etc that make Venice so unique. Overall we had a great stay at Venice. By the way we would like to warn you that the ferry service to the hotel and back was quite expensive and you should consider this in your costs.

my main concern was that they never accepted visa for check out whick clearly proved difficult as they were suppose to according to your service and even reserved the room this way. So it took rather a huge chuck of our spening money which we hadn't budgeted for and was left with not a lot to spend in Venice! Other than that i cannot fault the hotel but was annoyed at this.

We enjoyed our stay at Locanda Armizo. Courteous, friendly and helpful staff. Room was nice, location perfect. Only 2 concerns: 1) hard to locate- on a small back alley, directions were poor. 2)The hotel recommended a free trip to the Murano Glass Factory- forget it. It was a rip-off. One person meets you at the hotel and takes you to the boat, the boat driver takes you to Murano, another person is a salesman who tries to sell you everything, starting with items in the thousands and insisting it's glassware of the 1st quality. They are mostly seconds. We found better glassware for less price at glass shops on the island and we had to pay for our return trip home.

Having traveled during which must have been the steamiest summer ever, the inn was most welcomed. We were greeted very pleasantly and and knowing that it was very hot outside, the staff directed us to our room, even before checking in. This allowed the four of us to relax, freshen up and enjoy the airconditioning. This empathy towards guest is commendable and very appreciated. We will likely be return guests. Property location is convenient to everything but very quiet. Although the room was small for four adults (one male, three females)we never felt cramped. Most comfortable. If there is one thing we'd like to see improved is the breakfast. Charge a few euros more, add some delectable brioches and have a cappucino/espresso machine. When we ordered breakfast (in room, nice touch), I guess it was taken for granted we preferred caffe americano. (YUK! not even here at home!)Looking forward to see that change next year!

The Locanda Armizio is in a great location near the Rialto Bridge. However, it should not call itself a bed and breakfast as the breakfast consisted of juice OR coffee and a piece of bread. The room was tiny and the air conditioning didn't really work. Over all for the price, it was fine, but don't expect much.

The 2 main problems for this hotel were first of all the view from our room which was ridiculous (we were almost without light from outside)and secondly the breakfast which was very light and poor in term of kind of choice (no juice, only some 'biscotte' und bread with industrial marmelade). (This is maybe explain by the fact that there is no room to take the breakfast in this hotel, you have to have it in your room): all this has to be compared to the price of 150Euros per night for a double room. The ratio price to quality is then poor according to my experience. Otherwise, the hotel is clean, the rooms are well decorated, the people are wellcoming and speak several languages. In addition, the hotel is well located in Venice(except that its entry is in a small dark street difficult to find the first time, but people know this place so it was OK to find it).

There was a misunderstanding with regard to the size of room we expected (an ambiguous e mail). It didn't really spoil the stay because we weren't in the room too much. The location of this hotel is fantastic, very near the Rialto bridge, so you can't get lost, but not on the beaten track, so quiet and interesting. The price can't be beaten and the staff are all welcoming and helpful. In particular, we were with a 2-year old. They not only provided a cot but were also willing to keep an eye on him (after he went to sleep) to allow us out for a couple of hours in the evening. I would definitely come here again. The only disappointment was the breakfast, served in your room, but not enough to keep us going for very long!

The multi-lingual staff saw to our every need. The location near the Rialto Bridge was quite convenient to anyone arriving by public water transport from the railway station. It was an easy walk to all of the must see attractions of Venice. The rooms were very quiet, immaculate and tastefully decorated. By all means take in the Vivaldi concert recommended by the staff in a nearby 17th century church. While the rooms met our needs as a family of four perfectly, the Armizo would also be our first choice for a romantic getaway. We would not hesitate to return.
