This was a beautiful hotel, perfect location, helpful friendly staff and the best deal I could find for such a beautiful hotel and location. Right on the canal with the beautiful sounds of the singing gondoliers. I will definitely stay here again next time.

Thank you very much again for the nice stay! This was my second time in this hotel. We did have a huge room, facing a square at the site of the hotel, nr. 208. The room was excellent; classic Venetian chique. We did use the terrace on top for some sunny resting. Great place to stay in the middle of Venice.

There is nothing I could possibly fault about this hotel or staff, when we arrived there was a lovely well enjoyed bottle of bubbly in our room, we were only a genuine 3 minute walk from St Mark's square. the staff were polite and extremely helpfull. the room was spacious, exceptional clean and well maintained. i would recomend this hotel to anyone visiting Venice and would happily stay there again.

We had an excellent time in Venice in no small part thanks to this wonderful hotel. At first, we thought the loud shouting of the gondolamen at the near-by canal would spoil our night but the windows had perfect isolation, and the gondolamen retired for the night around 11 p.m. THe only negative thing about the room was the low water pressure in the shower booth. The staff were very helpful and welcoming, the breakfast was excellent and delicious, the hotel surroundings were beautiful, very conveniente for both Rialto and San Marco. We will definitely stay here again when we next travel to Venice. Highly recommendable.

The hotel provides a very nice stay, it made us feel like "living Venice". We were sorry for stayed there only for one night. The room was really well decorated and clean. The only inconvenience was the high cost for use the wifi connection, a service we used for free in many others hotels.

Perfect location in that you can walk to everything. Just a few minute's walk from St. Mark's Square, but far enough away that you are not in the tourist flow. Easy walk with your suitcase to the water taxi & vaporettos. Very clean. Helpful staff. Description and pictures on Vanere are accurate.

The Hotel Violino d'Oro was very good value for money. Its location was excellent if you wish to be close to St. Mark's Square. The breakfast was good and well presented. Nothing warm however. The only real fault which I could find was that the shower cubicle was very small. You could hardly bend down to wash yourself. Furthermore, the water kept flowing hot and then cool. One hint. There is no night life in Venice. Stay in the hotel and have a drink. It's much cheaper and the bars are mostly empty.

A beautiful hotel! The decor is amazing with all the venetial glass lamps and gorgous curtains, abutting a canal where the gondoliers are parked and singing, big bathroom, best breakfast we had in Europe. The service was great and the location terrific. It was a five minute walk from the water taxi station. We loved it.

Very convenient (5 min walk) to the S Marco Vallaresso boat stop to the airport. As a first timer to Venice and solo traveller, wasn't hard to find & get around from this location. Main reason for choosing this hotel was location so hence the high price i was willing to pay. Walls are not sound proof at all & you can hear everyone's conversation(if I understood Italian). The room I got had to be entered along the side of the hotel walking in between a few hotels & up about 5 flights of narrow stairs without an elevator. The hotel staff were very pleasant & spoke English. The room was a bit dark but clean. The washroom was nice, very roomy but the shower stall was very tiny and tight even for my size(5'6",110lbs). Good continental breakfast with selection of ham, cheese, cereals, buns, croissants, apples, coffee machine and various juices.

Such an excellent hotel - the room made me feel royal with the chandelier and the golden mirror. Great marble bathroom, great personel - great stay - you should go here!!!! We are a young couple who just got engaged on the day we stayed at Hotel Violono d'Oro - and what a great place for a marvelous day like that!!

gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis,einziger Minuspunkt war die unterdimensionierte Kaffemaschine beim Frühstück, vor der die Gäste Schlange stehen mussten.Trotzdem empfehlenswert!

We stayed at this hotel during Carnevale and have already booked our return visit! The hotel is two minutes walk from St Mark's Square and has rooms overlooking either a picturesque square or a canal. All of the hotel staff were very polite, helpful and friendly and we loved the fact that they were in 18th century costume, which really helped us to enter the Carnevale atmosphere! Our room was furnished in the Venetian style and was kept spotlessly clean.

The location of the hotel is excellent with nice interior decoration. Easy to find the way from disembarking the waterbus from the airport, only 5 minutes walk. From the hotel you are in walking distance to most celebrities. If travelling to Venice again we will book at Violino d'Oro again.

Very nice hotel. Excellent location. It was a little noisy at night because the gondola pick up was right outside our window. It was worth a little noise however because it was great entertainment watching all the activity. Our room had three nice big windows. The location of the hotel was perfect very close to everything and the water taxi to the airport.

this hotel is a bit pricey, but considering it's excellent location and venice's expensiveness, i would certainly stay here again. the staff was very helpful as there was a mixup at the airport with our luggage, and they called up FCO airport several times on our behalf. they were genuinely very helpful and made the situation much better. the hotel is extremely convenient for sightseeing, eating, shopping, and just wandering around.

This hotel had an excellent location, with beautiful rooms, and they provided a great breakfast. We would be happy to book here again if we return to Venice. The only negative was that there was no wireless internet access on our floor, and there was a daily charge for use in the areas where it was available.

we have visited Venice on many other occassions but never in winter - the hotel was very much as described in other reviews - we were welcomed on arrival and were in our room within 5 minutes. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room itself, although smallish, was very clean and comfortable. We had upgraded to a canal view on the second floor and were not dissappointed - beautiful views of a small canal, gondaliers and st Moise piazza. It rained on one of the days and the hotel was able to provide us with an umbrella - very useful. We would definitely stay at the hotel again as it was very good value for money and the location was ideal - right near San Marco Square and walking distance to all the sites

Well, first of all, we were forced to choose Violino d'Oro because of the fact that our first choice, Hotel Lux, did overbooking.. They canceled our booking as fast as we did. Then, was not easy to choose Violino d'Oro, lot of info to compare about lot of hotels. But once we did, we felt so happy about everything at the hotel, people from Staff was superb, the hotel so clean, so well dressed and with a big rooms. They (the staff) helped us in whatever we needed; as example, with aqua alta (high water), they let us a water proof boots to use. If we come back again to Venice, we will choose Violino d'Oro again too; without doubt.

This was our 2nd visit to Hotel Violino and continues to be our favorite hotel in all of Italy. The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful and English speaking. The hotel location was excellent (easy to find and close to water taxi stop). The photos of the hotel were completely accurate and the hotel is beautiful. The desk staff were excellent and the hotel was very nice. The room looked just like the photos and the bathroom was small but modern and clean. The bad thing was the bed and the A/C. The bed was like sleeping on a board covered with a towel. The pillows collapsed to nothing after a few minutes of use. The A/C was on its lowest setting and highest fan and we still had to sleep uncomfortably on top of the covers. The breakfast bar was excellent and the dining room view the canal at the gondola stand. We did not complain because we were only there two nights and the hotel was full.

The hotel is situated right on a canal where you can view the gondaliers outside a side balcony. It was an excellent location in terms of St. Mark's Square and shopping. Great location, but right next to canal so a bit busy in the corner area of street where hotel is located. The hotel's description of our room and what we got was misleading. We were told our room was a "junior suite" with a private terrace, which it was not; it was just a nicely sized room with two beds and a cot-not even a regular twin for the third bed. Additionally, the terrace was NOT private; anyone could come on from the hall entrance. Having a room face the canal, which we also paid extra for is not worth it, and I would recommend not going for that in Venice. Breakfast was fair, crowded and one wait person in particular was quite unfriendly. Desk staff was very accomodating and helpful.

I would rate this Hotel 5 stars. The room was very spacious and decorated beautifully. I had a question about the rooms before we went, and Luca answered my email within 1/2 hour, which I was impressed by. Luca was extrememly helpful during our stay as well. The hotel is perfectly located to enjoy all of the San Marco area. Easy to get to and only 2 bridges to walk over with your luggage. Their breakfast buffett offers a wide variety of selections and we enjoyed the whole atmosphere of the entire Hotel. We loved having the Gondoliers just outside the front door and enjoyed our ride immensely since we got to see so much that you can only see by water. There are many Restaurants and Gelato stores nearby and a snack bar right across the street for a light lunch. We had to depart at 5 Am for the airport as we had an 8 Am flight and they made arrangements for a water taxi which arrived at 4:50 Am. When we return to Venice, we will definitely stay at this Hotel, it was a wonderful experience.

The hotel was easy to find and well located relative to St. Mark's Square. In our 3 day stay we walked all over the city but were glad to be in a hotel in a central location. The room was very clean and well appointed and we enjoyed watching the activity outside our window which overlooked the gondola station. We thought it would be noisy at night but, apart from a busker belting it out in the doorway of the Prada shop nearby, things settled down by 11pm and sound insulation was quite effective. Service was friendly and on the whole very good, but I was disappointed that a request I made at reception for another pillow was only actioned the following day after a reminder. Breakfast was excellent. We will certainly recommend Violin d'Oro to our friends and would stay there again.

We are very glad we chose Violino D'Oro for our 2-night stay in Venice. Location was excellent, only a a couple of hundred meters from San Marco square, very close to taxi and vaporetto stops, and right next to a gondola stop. Staff were courteous and helpful. We had a king size bed and a single bed in a nice, quiet room. Everything fit well, but tight. It was the most expensive hotel we stayed at during our summer vacations, but hey, Venice IS expensive! and we don't regret it. Overall it was a great experience.

The location of the hotel was quite central. Better directions from the water taxi to the hotel would have been appreciated. Although the hotel was ameniable - the cost:quality relationship is questionable. I understand that life is more costly in Venice - but I still like to feel that I get quality for the investment. This was not the cas.

Great location! My husband and my bathroom was tiny, but our teens across the hall was much bigger (we had the nice view of the front of the hotel while the kids looked at the side of the building next door so it's a trade-off). Not very loud, even on 1st floor (in USA it would be 2nd floor) but bring earplugs anyway. Breakfast was good. The hotel was easy to find and close to San Marcos stop. We only had to carry our luggage over on bridge.

The Violino d'Oro is conveniently located, a short walk to the Piazza San Marco and the nearby vaporetto stops; very easy to find. There is a gondolier stop right by the front door (great photo opportunities from the second and third floor balconies!); the breakfasts are delicious; and the help speak many languages very fluently and are both friendly and helpful. This was my second visit to the Violino d'oro and I already look forward to returning. Signore Lucca helped to timetable my stay by finding the location of the gallery I wished to visit and giving me perfect directions. He booked my ticket for the Jazz Concert as well as explaining the venue location. When my flight home was cancelled, through fog both in Venice and the UK, - Signorina Claudia assured me that I could return to the hotel. She and Signorina Romita provided me with a lovely room in the annexe to the hotel, where I was extremely comfortable until my flight home. My flight cancellation was stress free because I could return to the Violino D'oro and continue to explore Venice until the weather improved.

Thought the price quoted was a HUGE mistake given that the hotel was centrally located, stunning and in my opinion above 3 star and was expecting a HUGE bill when we came to check out. But no, the price quoted was what we were charged and was extremely reasonable!I was thoroughly impressed with the facilties, its location, the staff and have recommeneded it to friends and family and would DEFINATELY stay here again.

This hotel was in a great location, just behind St. Marks Square. Furthermore it was easy to find it which sometimes can be a problem in Venice given the labyrinth of calles there. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, assisting me greatly in getting concert tickets. The only complaint I could make is that the single room I was in was tiny.
