Very happy with staying here; excellent location, comfortable bed, room and working AC. Free breakfast buffet was excellent. Only small complaint was that, since this was August, usually tour groups filled area in front of hotel while awaiting Gondola rides from the station set up there.

Lovely hotel with clean, comfortable rooms and beautiful Venetian furnishings. Fantastic location near St. Mark's Square and a short walk from the nearby vaporetto stop. Very quiet room with excellent air-con. Plentiful breakfast, friendly staff and a complementary water taxi to Murano. Delighted in all respects and would certainly re-book.

Excellent location, easy to find at a corner of San Marco, you can go there through SM square. Surrounded by luxuary boutiques. Near a gondola station. Nice personnel. Clean rooms. Good coffee. Has a lift, greatest luxuary for a Venice hotel I guess

Location of the hotel is very good as its located in san marco's square and very near to luxury boutiques. room size is ok, but i dont think its very clean, because when we arrive in our room, there is a used towel at the side of our bed. its a minus for me. Bfast is just standard, cold meat, hard bread. not my kind of food.

Stunned by our first visit to the 14th Century! Absolutely wonderful city, fantastic job retaining the qualities that made it such a force. Thanks for a comfortable and reasonably priced (for Venice) weekend.

Our room in this hotel was quite hot. The staff eventually turned off the heater in our room and we had much better sleep for the rest of our stay. The hotel is in a fabulous position - right on a canal with Gondoleers just outside the door. The staff are well aware of all of the restaurants in the area and were very helpful in recommending them.

I especially liked the heated towel rack. Since this was our last stop in italy, not having a business center in the "hotel" to print out our boarding pass was a hassle. You can rent a notebook from them and email the boarding passes to the hotel for them to print, but it was easier to find the internet cafe near the Rialto Bridge and take care of it there. Nice breakfast and they have a bar, but no food except for at breakfast time. Restaurants and grocery stores are not in abundance in Venice like in the other cities.

All staff were very friendly and the hotel is in a perfect location. We have visited Venice on a number of occasions and the facilities and rooms are what we would expect in this price bracket i.e. there are likely to be little things to complain about if that's what you want to do. I have scored the hotel highly because of our overall impression, this is not a comparison with a four or five star hotel where we would expect a lot more. We are not worried about having a room with a view because we're never in it other than to sleep and I'm not sure how many rooms with 'views' there would be in this hotel, maybe a few at the front. Our room here was not in the main hotel and we had to walk around the corner. It felt like having our own apartment which was nice but there was no lift and a narrow staircase so if you travel with huge bags of luggage it is worth asking for a room in the main building. Would definitely stay here again.

Very good location, clean and quiet room (did not expect quiet, because of the neighbourhood, but the room was in a deep courtyard, completely shielded from the noises. Modern bathroom, although tight as most are in Venice. Airconditioned, so keep the windows closed at all times, because moscitoes can be a niusance at night. Will stay again for sure if the price remains right

We stayed in Mid March 2010 and found the hotel easily even though it was late evening and dark. We got off the vaporetto at approx 11.30pm and to our amazement the hotel was literally just a couple of minutes walk from the stop. On arrival we were greeted by an extremely helpful and friendly night porter who kindly made us tea before showing us our room. The room was warm, clean comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and what a wonderful view in the morning to see the Gondoliers setting up for their day's work as you drink your coffee. I would recommend this hotel for its superb location near to St Marks Square, friendly informed staff and pricing. We're already talking about staying there again, Can't wait!

Exellently located, nicely ran small hotel. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Room we got was a smaller (corresponding with price) room in the back, which made it very quite. It was on the 3rd floor, so we had a view of the neighboring roofs. Charming! Bathroom was clean, well equipt, shower was tiny, but manageble. We used public terrace and loved it a lot. Breakfast was exelent. Cleaning staff very friendly and profesional. Great stay!

Staff friendly and welcoming and breakfast excellent. Location also excellent. Our room on the first floor was noisy as we could hear the gondoliers outside and could hear snoring and loud television from the room next door. The bar area is tiny and not very ambient. We would stay again, if we could get a better room at a good price, because the location, breakfast and staff are so good.

Average hotel in the center of Venice. The room was small, old fashioned and the decor was bizarre. There was a horrible smell like something was rotten or wet in the room, quite disgusting. Room equipment was old, fridge was not working, not kettle in the room. The hotel was covered with scaffoldings, so no view on the canal, very dark room. Left luggage was without any surveillance at the bottom of the main stairs so anyone can steel your piece of luggage. Definitely not worth the price. There are so many nice hotels in Venice, do not go to this one.

Hotel was difficult to find although it is really easy to find it if you know where it is. The Map provided is not detailed enough. You find the hotel if you look for San Marco 2091. Is is direktly beneath the gondola hiring kiosk. You will be misleaded if you look for Campiello Barozzi. The Hotel is very nice. Location is perfect 2 min from piazza san marco. The rooms are small but clean and quiet. The breakfast is excellent. Beds and bathrooms are good.

We had an excellent time in Venice in no small part thanks to this wonderful hotel. At first, we thought the loud shouting of the gondolamen at the near-by canal would spoil our night but the windows had perfect isolation, and the gondolamen retired for the night around 11 p.m. THe only negative thing about the room was the low water pressure in the shower booth. The staff were very helpful and welcoming, the breakfast was excellent and delicious, the hotel surroundings were beautiful, very conveniente for both Rialto and San Marco. We will definitely stay here again when we next travel to Venice. Highly recommendable.

Perfect location in that you can walk to everything. Just a few minute's walk from St. Mark's Square, but far enough away that you are not in the tourist flow. Easy walk with your suitcase to the water taxi & vaporettos. Very clean. Helpful staff. Description and pictures on Vanere are accurate.

The Hotel Violino d'Oro was very good value for money. Its location was excellent if you wish to be close to St. Mark's Square. The breakfast was good and well presented. Nothing warm however. The only real fault which I could find was that the shower cubicle was very small. You could hardly bend down to wash yourself. Furthermore, the water kept flowing hot and then cool. One hint. There is no night life in Venice. Stay in the hotel and have a drink. It's much cheaper and the bars are mostly empty.

The decor is amazing with all the venetial glass lamps and gorgous curtains, abutting a canal where the gondoliers are parked and singing, big bathroom, best breakfast we had in Europe. Very convenient (5 min walk) to the S Marco Vallaresso boat stop to the airport. As a first timer to Venice and solo traveller, wasn't hard to find & get around from this location. Main reason for choosing this hotel was location so hence the high price i was willing to pay. Walls are not sound proof at all & you can hear everyone's conversation(if I understood Italian). The room I got had to be entered along the side of the hotel walking in between a few hotels & up about 5 flights of narrow stairs without an elevator. The hotel staff were very pleasant & spoke English. The room was a bit dark but clean. The washroom was nice, very roomy but the shower stall was very tiny and tight even for my size(5'6",110lbs). Good continental breakfast with selection of ham, cheese, cereals, buns, croissants, apples, coffee machine and various juices.

We stayed at this hotel during Carnevale and have already booked our return visit! The hotel is two minutes walk from St Mark's Square and has rooms overlooking either a picturesque square or a canal. All of the hotel staff were very polite, helpful and friendly and we loved the fact that they were in 18th century costume, which really helped us to enter the Carnevale atmosphere! We have visited Venice on many other occassions but never in winter - the hotel was very much as described in other reviews - we were welcomed on arrival and were in our room within 5 minutes. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room itself, although smallish, was very clean and comfortable. We had upgraded to a canal view on the second floor and were not dissappointed - beautiful views of a small canal, gondaliers and st Moise piazza. It rained on one of the days and the hotel was able to provide us with an umbrella - very useful. We would definitely stay at the hotel again as it was very good value for money and the location was ideal - right near San Marco Square and walking distance to all the sites

Well, first of all, we were forced to choose Violino d'Oro because of the fact that our first choice, Hotel Lux, did overbooking.. They canceled our booking as fast as we did. Then, was not easy to choose Violino d'Oro, lot of info to compare about lot of hotels. But once we did, we felt so happy about everything at the hotel, people from Staff was superb, the hotel so clean, so well dressed and with a big rooms. They (the staff) helped us in whatever we needed; as example, with aqua alta (high water), they let us a water proof boots to use. If we come back again to Venice, we will choose Violino d'Oro again too; without doubt.

Very helpful and friendly staff, enjoyed especially the cappuccino & breakfast before 5:00am (because of travel schedule)

The staff at the hotel, who all spoke English, went that extra mile. When we go back to Venice and we will, this is the hotel for us.

The hotel location was excellent (easy to find and close to water taxi stop). The photos of the hotel were completely accurate and the hotel is beautiful. The desk staff were excellent and the hotel was very nice. The room looked just like the photos and the bathroom was small but modern and clean. The bad thing was the bed and the A/C. The bed was like sleeping on a board covered with a towel. The pillows collapsed to nothing after a few minutes of use. The A/C was on its lowest setting and highest fan and we still had to sleep uncomfortably on top of the covers. The breakfast bar was excellent and the dining room view the canal at the gondola stand. We did not complain because we were only there two nights and the hotel was full.

We were very pleased with our stay in the Hotel Violino d'Oro. The location was great-near St. Marks Square and the vaporetto dock. The hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating. They even arranged for an early breakfast for us, so we could eat something before heading to the airport. The rooms were very well appointed and clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is situated right on a canal where you can view the gondaliers outside a side balcony. It was an excellent location in terms of St. Mark's Square and shopping. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and the hotel was a great property compared to others in Europe. I would defintely go there again!

Great location, but right next to canal so a bit busy in the corner area of street where hotel is located. The hotel's description of our room and what we got was misleading. We were told our room was a "junior suite" with a private terrace, which it was not; it was just a nicely sized room with two beds and a cot-not even a regular twin for the third bed. Additionally, the terrace was NOT private; anyone could come on from the hall entrance. Having a room face the canal, which we also paid extra for is not worth it, and I would recommend not going for that in Venice. Breakfast was fair, crowded and one wait person in particular was quite unfriendly. Desk staff was very accomodating and helpful.

This hotel is very well priced and in a great location close to san marco square.the rooms at the back are obviously quieter than the rooms on the canal which face a gondola drop-off and pick up point.breakfast was a nice selection.our room was small but clean and nicely decorated.the staff were friendly and helpful.we enjoyed our stay here.

I would rate this Hotel 5 stars. The room was very spacious and decorated beautifully. I had a question about the rooms before we went, and Luca answered my email within 1/2 hour, which I was impressed by. Luca was extrememly helpful during our stay as well. The hotel is perfectly located to enjoy all of the San Marco area. Easy to get to and only 2 bridges to walk over with your luggage. Their breakfast buffett offers a wide variety of selections and we enjoyed the whole atmosphere of the entire Hotel. We loved having the Gondoliers just outside the front door and enjoyed our ride immensely since we got to see so much that you can only see by water. There are many Restaurants and Gelato stores nearby and a snack bar right across the street for a light lunch. We had to depart at 5 Am for the airport as we had an 8 Am flight and they made arrangements for a water taxi which arrived at 4:50 Am. When we return to Venice, we will definitely stay at this Hotel, it was a wonderful experience.

This hotel can be warmly recommended. We enjoyed very much the high quality and variety of breakfast. The big Bathroom is equipped with everything you could need, always enough towels were supplied. According to the situation very near to San Marco, the Hotel cannot be silent.

Excellent location for a 4 nights stay (third time in Venice with my wife). Rather comfortable as a 3 stars should be, pricing of superior rooms is superior too ! But it's Venice...

My friends and I had a wonderful stay at the hotel and would definitely rebook and recommend to other friends and family. The situation was ideal for us all as we wanted to be near to St Mark's Square as possible. Staff were warm and friendly and as we had an upgrade on our rooms that made the stay even better. Keep up the good work!

The location is excellent, just in the heart of Venice. The concierge has been very helpful. The room we stayed in was quite comfortable, nice smelling, and light was sufficiently shining in the room when we opened the curtains. These qualifications are rather hard to find in most of the hotels in the old Venice.

If you are visiting Venice for a few days as we did, then you could do no better than stay at this hotel, Violino d'Oro. Great location, very clean and just a few minutes walk from St Marks Square, but very peaceful and quiet once inside. we would go back there again.

Great Location, but no effort by staff to really connect, other than by night clerk, who was very personable. Understandable, Venice being a wholesale tourist factory. Hotel entirely met our expectations, not quite our desires.

The hotel is charming and wonderfully located, 4 minutes walk from San Marcos Square. I was travelling with my daughters and we were all charmed by the hotel. The breakfast was very satisfactory and the rooms more than adequate. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Venice and wanting a central location.

Six friends for Venice Carnaval, All was ok with this hotel, excellent location......but there is two superior rooms number 101 and 201 which are very noisy (sounds of water falling every time even in the night.....). It's the only bad thing but when you pay two hundred euros each nights you ask to sleep all night long.....

My wife and I were on our honeymoon. The location of this hotel is wonderful. We loved staying here, and would stay here again. The staff was great in every way. The room was a little small by U.S. standards, but for Italy it was a nice size.
