They overbooked the first night we were there and so they had to put us in a "junior suite" for the night. The room was okay, but we had to clear out of it by 11:00 a.m. and we didn't get into our room until after 2:00 p.m. The second room appeared very much like the ones in the web site photos. One drawback was that the air conditioning in the room really didn't work well (it was July - the temperature in the room never went below 27.5C). Made for a very uncomfortable sleep. Breakfast was nice, and the restaurant was right on the waterfront.

The Hotel location is great. You get all the hotel service from a nearby (50m') 4 star hotel. Breakfast is excellent, rooms are small and decoration is old. The toilet is good clean and well lighted. No free internet. In general I recommend the hotel, it is a good deal!

This hotel is on the Campo San Zaccharia, about 2 blocks away from Piazza San Marco. It's a very nice place! Our room was a little snug for two people with big suitcases, but it was clean and quiet. We especially liked the breakfasts in the cafe on the Riva Schiavoni/Guidecca Canal. The hotel staff was also very friendly and helpful.

We had 3 days before wir started a sailing tour. The Villa Igea was the best place to start for all important things you want to see. It was a very quiet place even though the Markus place nearby. And ist was a very short distance from landing place to the hotel.

We stayed at the Villa Igea for 4 nights and had a fantastic time. We stayed in a standard room which was spacious, clean, nicely decorated and comfortable.

Venice was more than we expected and so was this hotel. Travelling with two large suit cases Villa Igea was perfectly located only about 100m from public transport with no steps or bridges to negotiate and 5 min walk if that to Piazza San Marco. The staff were more than helpful the breakfast plentiful to get u going for the day. The room it self was slightly on the cramped side but could not be helped due to then two large suitcases and the bathroom was excellent. I would reccommend this to any one and when i return to Venice will stay there again.

Wonderful hotel. Good breakfast and staff friendly and helpful. A close up map from the s.zaccaria stop would have been helpful to find the property. Room was great and very clean.

We got a recently renovated room, which was actually a small suite -- for a bargain price. The room was pefect: modern bathroom and traditional bedroom + entrance room.

First visit to Venice. Villa Igea is located in an excellent spot near San Marco Square and vaporetto stop. Good breakfast provided at sister hotel around the corner. Bed and pillows a bit uncomfortable for me. "Funky" smell in hallway to elevator and in elevator at times. Good value for the money during low season.

Hi, I booked single room for one night via you excellent website and I was pleased with the choice apart from few issues, which might not be representative of the general standard. The first is the accuracy of the maps. The one I printed from your website (and I am looking at it while writing this review) shows the hotel on top of the bridge! I found it easily with the help of the proper map of Venice, but better description of access on the website would help. The second issue was the very cold bathroom with the tovel radiator not working. I think it should be spoted by hotel staff before I was allowed into the room. The third issue was very low water pressure in the shower. Not something expected in 3 star hotel. When I reported problems in the morning staff was very apologetic and told me it will be looked into straight away. The positives were many: a) location 1: just 100 yards from San Zacaria vaporetto stop, so brilliant for both Alliguna boats and vaporetto from Piazzale Roma. b) location 2: my room was overlooking the square and the church. c) breakfast was very good quality and plentiful, including meat like dried cured ham, cheses, bacon, eggs, cakes and pastries. d) staff was very helpfull, offering to check status of my flight etc. e) room decor while not to my liking (I prefer modern style) was of high quality and bathroom fitting were what is expected from 3 star hotel. f) there was a lift and porter service in the hotel. For those who hate carrying heavy suitcases up the narrow stairs, it is a major plus. Overall I would recommend the hotel assuming problems with the bathroom are one-off. This recommendation is based on the price I paid (£60). At full price of over £100, I would wonder if there is something roomier available or saved money by opting for budget, well located hotel like Lisbona where I stayed last year. regards, AF

Great little hotel in a stupendous location. I was travelling with my mother and we booked two single rooms. Based on previous comments and the very reasonable price I expected they would be very small but in fact we were each given a double, and the bathrooms were amply sized and quite luxurious. We were at the back of the hotel with no view but the rooms were quiet (apart from the usual sound of aircon). Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was perfectly pleasant though not exceptional. The location could not be more perfect. It is about 30 metres away from the main vaporetto stop which will take you anywhere on the island and lagoon, and a five minute walk from St Mark's Square. If you walk 10 minutes northeast instead, into the Castello district, you get away from the worst of the tourist traps and can find quieter bars and cafes. Alla Rivetta restaurant nearby (it's recommended in the Lonely Planet guide) offered good quality seafood that was quite well priced. Significantly better and cheaper than other establishments we tried. On balance I think this hotel is probably unbeatable and I'll be recommending it widely.

We booked at Villa Igea. But this hotel was overbooked. Therefore, they gave us a room at the sister hotel Savoia & jolanda. Although, this is a 4 stars, I would rather rate it as an excellent 3 stars hotel. I think that the room could have had nicer furniture for a 4*. However, for the price we paid, the deal was excellent. We did not have any view from the room, since the window was facing the opposite building separated by a little alley. The location was absolutely excellent, only 2 minutes from San Marco square. It was very easy to find. The buffet breakfast was varied, but did not change much. Crumbled eggs, bacon, parma ham, mortadella, emmenthal, croissants (not the best), yogurts, cakes, fruit salad, fruits, orange juice and tea, coffee, chocolate. I will definitely go back to this hotel or the sister hotel for the price, the service and the location.

We went for the carnival and had a special price through Venere.com (60 euro per night instead of the 260 Euro described on the hotel's website). We kept wondering how it was possible to have such a good price during the carnival, especially since the hotel is really well located (2-3min away from San Marco Plaza) but fortunately we paid the price indicated at Venere.com. The staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast was not amazing but nothing to complain about. I would recommend this hotel, especially at the rate we got. Best deal we had in a while!!

My Initial inquiry which was made on the phone with Venere personnel was helpful and handled with patience and professionalism. Every employee I encountered(from the chambermaid and porters to those who worked at the reception) at Hotel Igea was kind, courteous, helpful and patient.I was very impressed by their pleasant and attentive (but not intrusive) manner. My room was very clean and breakfast was excellent as was the service. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel was excellently priced with respect to location and quality. We had a double room overlooking the Piazza which was clean, beautifully decorated and had a bright modern bathroom. Although not spacious, the room was adequate in size. The breakfast was really good with tea/coffee, fresh croissants and toast brought to you, as well as a buffet with cereals, fruits, meats, cheese and eggs. With only a 5 min hop to St Marks, and 30 secs to a main Vaporetto stop (which is where airport boats stop too) it was a brilliant location.

This is a gem of a small hotel! The rooms were beautifully decorated. We had a nice view of the square below with a small balcony to stand on. The staff were friendly and helpful...very competent. Hotel is a one minute walk from vaporetto stop..St. Marks Square is a 5 minute walk away. Breakfast provided was excellent. I would return to this property without hesitation.

Ideally situated for St Marks. Just off the main front with vaporetta stop but in its own quiet square. Staff were extremley friendly. Breakfast was fine and as much to eat as you want, though a few times there formed a queue for tables. Would definately stay again.

Great location very close to San Marco Square, restaurants, shops and the Grand Canal. The only disappointment was the small size of the room.

Hotel Villa Igea is well located, quiet and the front desk is polite and helpful. However even though we had an upgraded room (which had a nice view) there was insufficient room for the comfortable placing of two suitcases, surely inadequate in a superior double? Also the airconditioning is very noisy. If you choose to sleep without it the room is too hot and an open window results in mosquitos. Previous comments refer to the available breakfast room in the adjacent hotel, but now the breakfast room is in the Villa Igea and although adequate is not worthy of special mention. There are no other public rooms apart from reception.

This hotel is truly a find for the money! Exactly as described only better. Easy access to vaporettos, restaurants, St. Marks! We had a beautiful room (actually two rooms with a sitting area) and an outdoor balcony/sitting area. Would definitely stay here again and hopefully for more than two nights as we were on a cruise out of Venice. Do not pass up booking this hotel online - you will not be disappointed.

Staying at Hotel Villa Igea was one of my most cherished experiences in all of my European travel. This relatively small hotel is exceptionally elegant, friendly and beautiful. The front desk staff is very personable, knowledgeable, helpful and courteous, especially Tomasso. We were there in late August 2006. The views of the Campo San Zaccaria were lovely and the room was large and extremely comfortable with lovely furnishings. The location is perfect, right near San Marco and everything else. Breakfasts at the adjoining "mother" Hotel Savoia Jolanda were epicurean and beautifully served on their outdoor terrace overlooking the lagoon with all its activity...very lovely. I would go back to this hotel any time I'm in Venice. You cannot do better. Just superb! Tip: If you arrive at the S.L. train station as I did, don't take the #1 vaparetto as some advise...that takes much longer. Instead take the circolare (51 or 41?). You won't see the Grand Canal that way, but it's a much faster and direct route. Once at the San Zaccaria stop, look for an archway “Sottopassaggio S. Zaccaria.” You must go through that and the Villa Igea is just steps away. What a lovely place! Trust me.

Villa Igea was brilliantly located for access to Piazza San Marco and for the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop (services to and from Airport and along Grand Canal). The restaurant where breakfast was served was located within the Savoia and Jolanda hotel only 15 seconds walk away and overlooked the San Marco Canal - a wonderful way to start the day. Bedrooms were traditionally Italian and very clean. Bedrooms to the front face San Zaccaria church. The staff were very helpful and spoke good English. Highly recommended!

Overall very nice stay at Villa Igea. Stayed for only 2 nights, as initial leg of 13 night Italian vacation, celebrating 25th Anniversary. Would stay here again if returning to Venice. Nice, spacious, clean room, small balcony leading to private roof-top area with nice views. Convenient location very near San Zaccaria water bus stop and San Marco.

This is a nice small hotel. Its very quiet in a courtyard. The front desk is very helpful and nice to talk to. Its very close to St. Marks square. Villa Igea is the boutique hotel of a 4 star hotel next door. The breakfast was at the 4star hotel and the quality of service was excellent for everything. The location was great...if you take the water bus to the zacharia stop it is right there and no bridges to go over with your luggage. I would definitely stay there again if I were in Venice.

This is the annex to the main hotel. It sits in a little square just round the back of St Marks. We had a room facing on to the square - very quiet and relaxing. The room was recently refurbished - nice big shower and comfortable surroundings. Excellent breakfasts in the main hotel facing the waterfront.

It would have been easier to find the hotel if the link with their associated four-star "front" would have been mentioned since the name Villa Igea wasn't visible from the main walkway. Otherwise, it was great!
