Hotel Villa Casanova was full of charm! Alessandro (the owner) was just amazing---you can tell that he puts his heart into his efforts. He recommended a great, moderately priced restaurant near the hotel for us that we loved. Our breakfast (included) was the best we had in Italy! Our room had character and was clean and spacious. We enjoyed staying on Lido (going to the beach, viewing St. Mark's from waterbus and getting away from the crowds) and considered it a surprising plus to our visit to Venice. We thought that our stay at Villa Casanova was the best hotel experience of our trip---and definitely the one with the most personal touch.

Great location on the Lido, just 5 minutes from the vaporetto stop. Very helpful & friendly service from Alessandro & Marina. Good breakfast with lovely coffee. Nothing was too much bother. Would definitely stay here if visiting Venice.

An ideally located, charming and clean little hotel with extremely friendly service. Highly recommended! The room was sufficiently spacious, as well as comfortable once we had figured out how to get the a/c unit to produce heat... (Our visit was in October.) Noise was restricted to some creaking of the floors, nothing serious. The hotel is in a quiet residential street but at the same time less than five minutes' walk from the Lido vaporetto station and the main street where you'll find the restaurants and boutiques. Last but not least, the Villa Casanova breakfast is excellent by continental standards.

We really liked our room at the Villa Casanova with its wonderful wooden beams and floors which compensated for the lack of a view. Our 12-year-old daughter found her corner particularly cosy. The welcome we received was warm and friendly. We assumed there would be no problem with the car park as on our reservation it said parking included. However, we were told on arrival we should have let the hotel know we needed a space. This point should be indicated on the website. Luckily everyone was very cooperative and space was found. The breakfast buffet was excellent and staff were helpfull at all times, always ready with a cappuccino.

The room was very clean and the air conditioning kept things cool and comfortable. The hotel was extremely quiet and it was a property we would certainly come back to when in Venice or Lido. The free bicycles were also a really nice addition and a fantastic way to see Lido. The location was also great for shopping, dining and the ferry.

We stayed there the first time. It was an absolutely lovely place to stay with a lot of love to the details! Venice could be reached very easily by watertaxi (station about 5 minutes to walk)Helpful and friendly staff. The two extra beds for the kids were adequate (not standard in other hotels).

Everything; well coming, breakfast, Lido itself, free bicycles and certainly Marina and Alessandro, were perfect. Many thanks to Villa Casanova that they make Venice trip unforgettable for us. We will definitely turn back to Villa Casanova and spend more time at Lido on bicycles rather than Venice.

We spent 5 days at Hotel Villa Casanova. We enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere: everywhere it was clean and comfortable, the breakfast tasty, the kind staff very helpful, giving good advice concerning the places of interest or the way to get there. A splendid jumping-off point to explore Venice! We would like to come back some day.

Sorry for the delayed rating, but this place is well worth a return visit. The staff was immensely helpful (with the small exception of a language issue in the early morning, but it was quickly solved), giving us directions and a wonderful recommendation for dinner. The neighborhood is quiet, it's a short walk to shopping and to the beach, and we felt very safe in the area. Our room was clean and very cozy. Without a doubt, they offered one of the best breakfasts we had during our whole trip. Definitely something for everyone. It's a must to visit there again one day!

We stayed for two nights in early October 2010. We loved Villa Casanova - the room was very nice and exactly what we expected, the location was peaceful and quiet, and we found it easy to travel from the Lido into Venice. The staff, Marina particularly, couldn't have been more helpful. We would strongly recommend this hotel. Also I should mention we love Venere, we've never booked a bad hotel from this site.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Venice. Villa Casanova's staff are simply the most friendly we encountered during our 4-weeks Europe trip. It has a homey feel to the villa & the service. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcome by Alessandro &, before we asked, he gave us one map of Venice & one of the local area, giving us direction to the supermarket if we ever needed it, restaurant recommendations & trasport info. There were also bicycles on the property free for guests' use. Our room was a bit old, but was clean. There was always a warm greeting in the morning as we walked in to the breakfast room, offering us tea/coffee. Location is also good & easy to find - 10 mins walk to the vaporetto stations & plenty of restaurants & cafes within walking distance. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Venice. Keep up the great work, Casanova!

The description of the hotel was very true, we felt like at home in this familiar hotel. People there are very, very friendly. Rooms are clean and quiet. There was like everything for breakfast: different kind of breads, cheese, salami and yoghurts, müsli, fresh fruit, croissants, different sorts of coffee,....I would go there again.

It is excellent hotel, great place for families with children. Of course I suggest a special place for children in garden. If you book apartments for four people family where are child and mother in low and if you think that there will be separate rooms it should be specially note. But that’s the question off booking possibilities.

Having access to a bike made a special place that much more enjoyable. I was able to make the most of my very short stay thanks to the transportation links being so efficient. The staff was wonderfully helpful and welcoming and I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who likes to enjoy the beach and the busy city of Venice. I'm already looking forward to visiting again.

Villa Casanova is ideally located within 5 mins of the vaporetto stop, which takes around 15 mins to get to St Marks. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The breakfast is what you would expect from an Italian B+B but the fresh coffee is very good. The breakfast room is rather limited for space in winter but I'm sure in summer it would be better to use the tables in the garden. There is no full time reception here but a number to contact the owner if there are any problems, which there were none. Overall a very good hotel and I would recomend Villa Casanova to anybody travelling on a budget who wants facilities you would normally only get in a much more expensive hotel.

Villa Casanova was my favorite spot on our month long trip through Europe. Alessandro was amazing and the place is charming and quiet. I wasn't sure how staying in Lido would be (I stayed in Venice my last trip) but it was brilliant and I'd rather stay there anytime. It's a short walk from the waterbus to Villa Casanova and only a 10 minute waterbus ride to Venice. You can buy a card that covers unlimited transport and entrance to the museums that's decent value for money. Rather than being inconvenient, the trip out to Lido at the end of each day was a welcome change from the rather cramped streets of Venice. The hotel is in a lovely, quiet area and is very warm and welcoming. Breakfast was great and the room we stayed in was spacious. I'd definitely stay there again.

Leaving Cinqueterre, we departed for our drive to Venezia. My wife was a little apprehensive, as we knew we had to take a ferry to Lido from Venezia, and as such we didn't know what to expect. Let me tell you, arriving around 6pm into Venezia towards the ferry, the apprehension rose as we saw the stinky marshes surrounding Venezia and on which it was built. Then things started to turn for the better. Our Garmin GPS lead us to the ferry, to a tee, without problems. We parked the car on the ferry, and went to the top deck, to observe our journey towards Lido. By this point, the night was setting in, and a nice treat was to see a Costa cruiseliner leaving and maneuvering through the larger surrounding canal, with its top showing next to church bell towers, which our own ferryboat followed. Upon arrival on Lido, villa Casanova was a 5 minute drive, which was very easy to get to. And guess what folks, free parking!!!! Where can you get that in ITALY?????!!!! The villa is nicely lit, exuding a very warm, welcoming feeling. We were promptly greeted and given our set of keys to room 11, which is on the top floor of a 3-storey villa. Without even seeing the room, my wife had such a good feeling, that she asked to extend our stay for another night. To her delight, we were able to extend our stay in the same room. We lugged our suitcases to the 3rd floor (note folks, how many times do we have to say TRAVEL LIGHT, in our reviews), and opened the door ... and tadaaaaaa we loved it!!! The room felt very rustic, with exposed beams and wood floors, that creaked in some spots, which we loved. It has simple furnishings, but a nice surprised was a fridge that was stacked with goodies, for a fee. This is not usually the standard in B&Bs. The bathroom was simple with a stand-up shower. The only thing that could be improved here were the shower doors which stick, as you try to slide them, as well as a re-cock. A great value in this B&B is usage of Wi-Fi FREE internet, as we had a lapt

We stayed 4 nights at Hotel Casanova and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. It is in an excellent location in a beautiful and quiet residential area about a quarter mile from the Lido vaporetto stop and the downtown area of Lido. We would recommend Lido for a quiet rest from the congestion of Venice after seeing the sights each day. The hotel is exceptionally clean and comfortable, with a wonderful breakfast buffet each morning, complete with your choice of coffee, tea, cappuccino, latte, etc., all freshly made. The proprietor was most courteous and helpful. We would definitely stay there again if we have the opportunity!

An excellent B&B which lived up to all our expectations. Alessandro could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Be careful, though, because the "superior" room is labeled that way as it has an additional single bed. We thought it was because it had the 4-poster bed, so ended up paying for a bed we didn't need. No problem.

An oasis in Venezia. So peaceful after the Venice mainland with its hoards of visitors. Lido is green and leafy with many trees, plenty of restaurants, a few shops and a relaxed atmosphere. Great location, friendly staff, spacious and clean room. Staying at the Lido when visiting Venice is very pleasant. The hotel is located in a beautiful and quiet street, still it is conveniently close to the water bus stop and close to the Lido's main street where you can find loads of restaurants. Beach at a walking distance. Water buses run every 10 min. (every 20 min at night 24/24) to the main island (San Marco square about 15 min ride).

We stayed for two nights at Villa Casanova during our vacation. I thought that staying on the Lido would be a disadvantage, but that was not the case. The Villa Casanova is in a quiet, elegant neighborhood that was a relief from the congestion of Venice, and getting around on the vaporetti was remarkably easy. Our room was spacious and comfortable, very quiet, and the service and staff were excellent. I would definitely stay at the Villa Casanova again and would recommend it to friends and family.

Lido is OK, has nice cafes and pizzerias, and it's very pleasant and truly romantic to take a vaporetto first thing in the morning and to come back home in the night by sea... We loved our stay there, and absolutely nothing disappointed us. Thanks to venere.com we'd made the right choice.

We were in Venezia and in Lido for the second time. It's very pleasant to arrive to St Marc Square with the boat. The hotel Villa Casanova was very nice and quiet and the breakfast was enough hearty.

Our stay at Villa Casanova was overall very pleasant. The bed was comfortable, room very spacious and comfortable and the staff friendly. There were very nice restaurants and shops within walking distance and Lido was so much more laid back than Venice - a great place to wind down after a long day battling with the tourist hordes. Only disappointing thing (and this is a wee-bit trivial) was the morning coffee.

The location of the hotel, although on the neighbouring Lido island, has a very convenient location. The surrounding area offers food stores and restaurants. The access to Venice island is easy. It is actually quite nice to cross back the lagoon (10-15 min from St Marc's plaza) at the end of the day or the night.

We have just returned from 3 days in Venice. 6 adults and 2 children to celebrate a 25th Wedding Anniversary. We have stayed on Venice Lido before and were a little dissapointed when our usual hotel was unable to offer us two triple rooms and a double. We were able to book the rooms we needed at the Villa Casanova and decided to "take a chance" .... From the outside the Villa Casanova is not too impresive and is really a big independent Villa in a residential road. It's not a HOTEL but more a guest house. The location on the Lido is almost perfect and a genuine 5 minutes walk from the Vaporetto stop on the quay. The "Ingresso" or reception is fairly basic but adequate .. HOWEVER the rooms are of a standard that would compliment a quality hotel. We had three rooms in total. two triple rooms on the top floor and a romantic double room on the second floor that included a four poster bed. All the rooms were very nicely decorated and clean throughout. The bathrooms were fully loaded with clean fluffy white towels and everything else you would need including a hair dryer. The rooms were much better than we expected and we really could find no fault at all. The shower was instantly hot and powerful. the Air conditioning or heating (Its the same unit) was responsive and worked well. Bed was comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. On our previous visit to Venice Lido we stayed at a four star hotel .. We all agreed that the ROOMS at the Villa Casanova were probably better! ..... Even the Frigo bar offered chilled mineral water for €1.50 or a small bottle of Prosecco for €3 .. Soft Drinks were €2 ..... We all know that most "Hotels" LOAD the prices on their frigo bar drinks .. but here we were pleasantly suprised as the drinks were actually fairly inexpensive. Where the Casanova falls a little short is "downstairs". BUT it's important to remember that THIS hotel falls into the "ECONOMY" bracket and the prices we paid for our rooms were AMAZING ... It fe

Sehr angenehmes Hotel. Am Lido zu wohnen hat mehrere Vorteile: Man kann mit dem Auto zum Hotel fahren, Vaporetto ist leicht erreichbar, es ist preiswerter. Villa Casanova ist eine tolle Alternative zu Stadthotels.

My wife and I stayed here on our Honeymoon. The staff were excellent, welcoming and friendly (and this was before they knew it was our Honeymoon!). The hotel itself is just a few minutes walk from restaurants in the Lido and the main waterbus stop for the island, but far enough away that there is no noise from either. Warm and welcoming, the hotel is well furnished if a little outdated in places but overall this just added to the charm. While we were staying there were plenty of families with small to teenage children and all seemed as happy and relaxed as we were at breakfast, which was a modest but well stocked continental breakfast buffet, with the staff serving real coffee in their familiar relaxed yet professional style. Overall we loved this hotel - it helped make our honeymoon the special occasion we wanted it to be. If you are looking for ostentatious and lavish you might be better looking elsewhere but I'd recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing, romantic holiday

All was perfect, but we have 2 problems 1. Is an old house, and if you are in the first floor, and the upper room walks across their room, you hear everything, so it's annoying when the second floor people arrive at 12 at night 'cause you wake up. 2. There's nobody in Lido in winter

The view out of the small roof-light of the room in the second floor was poor and there was only (space for) one chair in the room. But otherwise it was an excellent stay.

We really liked the Villa Casanova, and the 10 minute ferry ride from St. Mark's Square wasn't a problem. We enjoyed getting away from the maddening crowds of Venice. Take time to explore Lido. The beach is only 10 minutes away from the villa. The villa was very nice, the breakfast was excellent.

What a find. Had never stayed over on the Lido - and would now not think of staying anywhere else when going to Venice. The hotel was spot on - an absolute haven away from the madness of St Mark's - but only 14 minutes from the Piazza on the boat. Take the time to explore the Lido - there is a wonderful bar on the beach on the other side of the Lido where you can drink great wine and watch the Adriatic - without spending a fortune. Would heartily recommend the Villa Casanova - only thing was the directions from the website weren't great - but a very helpful local chap actually walked us round to the hotel, which was only a few minutes from the Lido stop.

Comfy, quiet and very reasonable!! Less than 10 minute boat rides to St. Mark's!! walking distance to the beach and the vaparetto station. Great to stay on Lido and get away from the crowds in Venice. We will stay here again when we return to Venice!!

I had researched many options for a 3 night stay in Venice for myself, my husband, and our 5 and 13 year old children. Villa Casanova got such excellent ratings compared to other Venetian hotels that once we had decided to opt for Lido rather than the city, there was no contest. I have to say that our trust was well-rewarded. We arrived at around 9pm in Venice on an Easyjet flight from England and took the Alilaguna to Lido, which took about an hour. When we disembarked we walked with our suitcases for about 5 minutes along the sea front and easily found the hotel, which is posted from the frontage road. Our room was immediately next to the lobby and all 4 of us were sharing - twin beds for the children and a queen for my husband and I. The bathroom was compact but clean, and although I had been concerned about our proximity to the hallway, we did not hear any noise outside the room. The air conditioning was great, and the breakfast area really pleasant - tables and chairs on a patio with a continental-style buffet and Alessandro, the owner, making cappucinos and hot chocolate to his guests' preferences. In the morning it was an easy stroll back to the harbor to the vaporetto for the 15 minute ride over to San Marco. Venice was as bewitching as ever, but after running around the sights all day it was always pleasant to return to the peace and tranquillity of the hotel in the evening. When we asked for a recommendation for a pizzeria one night, one of the staff recommended "Ai Do Matti" (At the 2 crazy people's place) which did excellent, enormous, cheap pizzas and was situated right next to a gelateria for dessert - a big hit with all of us, and only 10 minutes form the hotel on the main street walking away from the harbor. We never got near the beaches, but did get to view a spectacular thunderstorm playing over Venice on our last night, which we watched from the Lido harbor and then braved as our vaporetto took us up the Grand Canal one last time. Lido is a perfect place to stay when visiting Venice. You can hop on a boat and be there in 15 minutes and then escape back to the more relaxed and less crowded island of Lido. Hotel Villa Casanoba exceeded our standards. It was a great place. The staff were fantastic, so friendly and helpful at all times. It was great that they gave us the bikes for free and were so generous with the breakfast. If only there was a swimming pool!

We stayed in a room for 4. It had one double bed and 2 single beds. My best friends and I really enjoyed our stay at Casanova and on the Lido. We especially loved that the inn had bikes that we could use free of charge (on the Lido of course). Also the Lido is a very charming island with plenty of restaurants and a beach. We didn't mind the 40 minute vaporetto ride to the island. The breakfast was also great there. The staff would make any drink for you on request. If I ever go back to Venice (and I hope I will), I will stay there again.

The bed-n-breakfast was very nice. The staff was very kind, always saying hello and asking if there was anything they could do for you (they spoke multiple languages and very clear English). The area was very quiet, tranquil (which can be had to find in the Venice area)yet had much to offer. We walked the area at night and it was very pleasant (never felt unsafe.) The rooms are large (and the bath the largest we had on our 3 city tour). Rooms were very clean, it is an old building but has been decorated and furnished with modern items. (A/C got really cold first night but then didn't get as cold as I would have liked after - but better than the warm stickiness outside). The boat takes you within an easy walk to the hotel and boats constantly run making it convient to island hop all night. Food places are very close and offer great atmosphere. (Non of the food was bad, nothing superiour) but all of the local waitstaff was very pleasant, helpful, and understood a lot of English. Would definitely stay here again, Lido is so close to the other areas and not nearly the traffic, there are also some close beaches. There is a sign for the hotel (like a street sign) right when you get to the road - most street signs are had to find - but locals know right where the hotel is.)

The hotel was a 5 min walk from the water taxi/bus and was easy to find from the e-mailed directins we had been given by the hotel. We had 2 adults and 2 children in the same room which made it a little cramped over the 4 days we stayed. However we would certainly stay again and recommend it to others. There are a number of restaurants within a 5 min walk.

First, eat at a local Lido restaurant named 'Favorita'...we had an awesome meal at a good price there. Second, know that this is a nice little three star hotel in quiet Nord Lido. It is not on the water, but is in a quiet area and is away from the very fast paced Venice. BEWARE: You should be prepared to ride the waterbus to and from Lido to Venice. If this does not sound like a fun way to spend 30 to 45 mins (waiting and riding on the bus), then stay on the main island. If you are looking for a hotel away from all the people and you find slow boat trips to be soothing, then this is a great place for you. Lastly, the breakfast is good and I enjoyed each Cappuccino!

My mom and I stayed for a total of 7 nights at Villa Casanova. Upon arrival, we were warmly received and offered a scrumptious breakfast—the cappuccino was awesome! The hotel staff was very helpful, informative, and hospitable. Our flight information changed the night before our departure, and they readily agreed to let use the hotel fax machine to receive copies of our updated flight itinerary. They also have umbrellas for the guests to use on rainy days. What thoughtfulness! Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The towel warmer was nice; I wish I had ones of these at home. :) The hotel is conveniently located near both vaporetto and Alilaguna stops, and St. Mark’s Square is only a stone’s throw away. I highly recommend Villa Casanova, and we hope to be back next year again for Carnevale.

A wonderful place to stay!! My mother and I stayed here for the start of Carnevale, and we were impressed by the beauty, value, friendliness, cleanliness and lovely atmosphere of the Villa Casanova. The eco-friendliness and organic breakfast selections were another draw for me. A true find in Venice--I took a small stack of business cards with me and have already given them away to friends asking for recommendations. The fact that the hotel is on Lido is an advantage, in my opinion--it's not hard to get to and is soo much quiter and less crowded than the center. By the time you wander around looking for a tiny hotel in the heart of Venice, you will have spent as much time as you take getting on the Vaporetto and going to Lido. This was a wonderful, wonderful hotel and I can't wait to go back. It would be perfect for a romantic getaway... :)

Amazing place. Value for money indeed @ 59 euro. Hard to even find a criticism! Welcoming staff. Tastefully decorated room. Bathroom contained towel warmer (nice touch for venice in autumn). Suggested neighbourhood restaurant great. Included Breakfast great (cappucino ****) Extended my stay without problems. Easy from train to lido via vaporetto no. 1 and similarly regular services to st marks. Not quite on the water as indicated on map. A totally overall an amazing experience for the price.

In advance of our stay, the staff at Casanova sent us directions of how to get to the Lido Island and the hotel. This included detailed information regarding the water boats to the get to the Island including boat numbers and times. The Lido is only around a 35 minute water boat journey from the main train and bus station in Venice and you can buy a very cheap pass for the day or a few days. The water boats run all night to the Lido which made this very convenient - it was nice to be away from the centre of Venice and this was a lot cheaper than most places on the main Island od Venice in June. There is a 24 hour reception which was very useful as we arrived around midnight. This also means you can come and go as you please. The staff were very helpful and provided us with maps and public transport timetables and advice The rooms were spacious and clean - the breakfast very served out in a very nice garden. Overall, this is a very nice place to stay to visit Venice and we would stay here if we returned to Venice in the future
