###Likes### * convenient location - It's seriously right next to the Fondamente Nove stop (although it doesn't run late). It's not too far to walk to Ca' d'Oro either. * pretty location - nice for strolls on the lagoon * room size - good enough for us (in our late 20s) * room look - I thought it looked classy. * breakfast - Matteo's coffee was good, and I appreciated that he had yogurt there and not just pastries. * staff - Matteo was great. One of the other workers (can't remember his name), introduced us to limoncello one of the nights and Matteo said it was on the house when we were checking out. ###Dislikes### * air conditioning - not particularly effective, and it condensed and dripped on the floor * noise - I can't imagine it'd be much better anywhere in Venice, but often crowds of people milling around the lagoon area would get loud late at night.

Matteo runs a great place and is very helpful. The rooms are not large, but what one would expect for Venice. It was clean and very well located, just a short walk over a bridge from the Alilaguna blue line that runs to and from the airport. Walking to the Rialto bridge was about 15 minutes. Breakfast was coffee, juice, yogurt, some breads and Cappuccino. The wifi network worked well in our room on the second floor. I would reccomend this hotel to everyone.

We spent 3 nights at Hotel Vecellio. The location was ideal for the waterbus and transfer to the airport. There were several reasonably priced restaurants within a few minutes walk and even a few affordable bars about 15 minutes walk away. Our room was decorated in a traditional style and had a great view over the lagoon. It was a little dark and the air con was not very effective but these were not major problems. We were a little unlucky as we had neighbours who slammed their bedroom door 20-30 times every morning as they visited family members staying in other rooms. With different neighbours however this would have been an ideal hotel for the price we paid. Breakfast was not very substantial but better than nothing and kept us going for a couple of hours. The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is right on the water and has a great view of Cimetero. Took us only 15 mins or so to walk from St Marks and Rialto. Room was on ground floor.(blue room on website) Vaperetto stop right outside- really handy but noisy if window open. Bathroom tiny side - no need for a bidet in there! Breakfast yoghurt, croissants, juice, bread cheese and jam.Matteo the owner very friendly, funny and welcoming.we reccomend Storica to eat, 5 min walk away, really nice little restaurant. Piazzale Roma 25 mins by vaparetto when u want to get to airport. We highly recommend this hotel.

Conveniently located by a vaporetto stop and near the stop for the airport boat. Matteo recommended an excellent restaurant and we found another very close. We thought staying in this Venice neighborhood was a great plan. Rooms not on the front or in the hotel annex are very quiet, rooms on the front there is noise from the boat traffic, but it is worth it to watch the scenery.

The hotel has a great location in terms of the ferry and water taxis and amenities. However, the hotel is over-priced for waht it provides...But the biggest problem we had was that the air conditioning was ineffiecient and noisy and the hotel could not provide a fan to supplement the air con....poor service basically! Saying that, the location is great for getting around ..pity about the hotel.

I've been to Venice many times and the hotel Vecellio is one of my favourite places to stay. The location is simply superb - a bit removed from the tourist crowds (but only a short walk away from the hotspots), and with fantastic views and rooms which make you feel like a princess...

This is a small (almost cramped) hotel that has been designed to make good use of the space available. The owner is pleasant and helpful when present. It is important to note that a curvy staircase is the only access to the second floor, which may pose problems for some. Mobility limited individuals will want to assure first floor rooms, which may be noisy because of the vaporetto service located across from the hotel.

Venice is an expensive city and this hotel on the water was a good find, Mateo welcomed us as we exited the vaparato and was friendly, funny and helpful. His English is very good. We requested a water view room (anniversary) and received one. Folks on the street could be heard at night and in morning but location makes it worthwile. Directions easy as it is where the vaparato stops. Breakfast was simple but the cappuccino's were yummy.

We had a great time at the hotel Vecellio. Matteo and all of his staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is ideally situated in a lovely quiet area of the city with great views over the lagoon. However, the hotel is close enough to all of the hot spots in Venice to get there easily either walking or on the water bus. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was always served with a smile and we definitely hope to see Matteo again in the future.

The hotel owner is friendly and knowledgeable. He responded to many of my inquiries via e-mail even before I arrived in Venice. The rooms are clean and renovated. The room had a beautiful view of the lagoon. The hotel is in a quiet area of town, which was refreshing. The hotel is conveniently located near water bus stops and by the water shuttle to the airport. The Vecellio was one of the nicest hotels I stayed in during my trip throughout Northern Italy.

Very nice hotel, nicely decorated in a baroque style, each room has its own color and atmosphere. The hotel is quite small: only 7 rooms (all of them quite small too but clean and quiet). Ask for a room at the first floor with view on the sea! Matteo and the other receptionists are really charming and they will help you to discover good Venitian spots! It's located in a quiet area and just in front of many vaporetto stations: easy to go to visit other islands or go to other spots of the city (but it's better to walk I think!). I recommand this hotel for couples who want to have a nice and quiet stay for a couple of days in Venetia!

In the directions it's be helpful to state that you get the Alilaguna blue line and then getting off at Fondamente Nova you turn left and go over one bridge to find the hotel. Our confirmatory email from Venere said we had to arrive by 8pm - not so! I emailed the hotel to say we'd be arriving late & gave them our flight arrival time. I got an immediate response that this was fine and we were welcomed on arrival.

We had a wonderful romantic break at the Hotel Vecellio. The location couldn't be beat - firat stop for the airport vaporetto after Murano, and also at the jetty for the other islands. We were about 15 minutes walk or so from San Marco - once you get your bearings! A few decent trattorias were close, and prices tended to be better than those around the tourist spots. The room was nice and not too small by Venetian standards, very clean too. Matteo the proprietor greeted us with a warm welcome and was an invaluable source of local information if you wanted a recommendation of somewhere to dine, or to book concert tickets etc. Breakfast was in a small dining area in the lobby, a bit cramped but perfectly adequate. All in all, a memorable stay, we would certainly come here again.

This was an excellent choice for us. We came in the day before our cruise and needed a room for one night. The hotel is on the north side of Venice with a view of Murano. Access is very easy, since the vaporetto stop is just in front of the hotel. The room was exceptionally clean and neat. We were very impressed with the attention given us, and they stored our luggage the next day while we toured some of Venice. We would definitely stay here again.

Stayed 3 nights. First was spent at small room a couple of blocks away , with a small price discount (hotel was overbooked). The next day we moved to hotel and our room was nice, with a wonderful view of the lagoon. The bed was two twins pushed together and comfort was just OK. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was modest but good. Sleeping with windows open will provide mosquitoes and boat exhaust. The close proximity to the vaporette and airport shuttle was a huge plus. We saw many people hauling luggage, lost ,looking for hotels. After one day of being lost with a map I bought a compass and was a big help. Over all our stay was enjoyable with minor inconveniences.

Proprietor accommodating. AC was weak and did not cool the room. Shower door was not on our shower. Bathroom incredibly small even for a European hotel. Breakfast ok. I enjoyed the residential, off-tourist location. Leisure walk to Rialto and St. Marco. Stay away from the tourist restaurants and watch where local Italians are eating like LE PIRAMIDI VENEZIA on Barbaria delle Tole. The proprietor (an older gentleman) circulates and makes sure you are happy. They are not out in the street making the hard sell.

This hotel was perfect for our two day trip in Venice. Matteo and his father were so kind and funny. The location is right by a vaporetto stop, but my husband and I found it very easy to walk pretty much everywhere. You will get lost on your first try, it's only normal. The breakfast was good. The rooms were small, but that is typical. There is a restaurant next door to the hotel, go there for a piece of tiramasu... the best!!! We also tried Trattoria Storica, as recommended by Matteo. It is very close. I have to say the food was good, but my husband and I were not blown away by it. We had much better meals elsewhere. Overall, great hotel, service, and location.

The room was beautiful, and they gave us a lovely room with view, but I do have to mention that the shower had no curtain and it was impossible to shower without getting the entire bathroom soaking! They could not have been nicer though, and gave us some good recommendations on local restaurants that cost us far less than we would have paid at the trendier places. With the shower curtain as a small detraction, I would recommend it to others.

Bijoux hotel, right next to ferry to Morrano and Burano so very convenient if you're visiting the lagoon. Not in hot tourist spot, so relatively quiet (relative, that is to having a vapereto cue outside. It was a bit cramped, but most hotels in Venice are unless you pay a fortune. Grand decor, bit like carrying a grand piano in an mini traveler. Ensuit bathroom tiny but imaculate - larger folk might have difficulty.

Venice is expensive, Hotel Vecellio is very reasonable is comparison. We found this on the internet and were a little worried about being "out of the way" - but it was not a problem at all. It is also very conveient being literally 10 steps away from the Fondamente Novo vaporetto stop. The same stop also has the boats to Murano/Burano etc as well as 30 yards away from the Alilaguna boat from/back to the Airport - a much better way to come to/leave Venice than the bus or rail. The rooms are quiet among the guests and breakfast room but if your like the windows open you will hear neighborhood and vaporetto noises. Even though we packed earplugs we never used them, finding all the neighborhood sounds actually quite pleasant and somehow reassuring. Rooms are on Ground and first floor so stairs are not an issue. Nearest Stop on Grand Canal is Ca D'Oro, which can be reached in 5 minutes walk once you figure it out. Go to North end of Fondamente Novo, then all the way west on the last left turn possible and you will be almost there. Also found we could walk to Piazza San Marco in 20 minutes (going past San Lorenzo). Took us 40 minutes the first time but you learn. Breakfast was excellent. A continental breakfast to be sure but it included orange juice, cheese, and yogurt in addition to bread/pastries. And wonderful coffee. Matteo (day time) was great in making reservations for a Vivaldi (of course) concert and Pino (night shift) told us of local restaurants. Strongly recommend the Trattoria Storico, 5 minute walk away and virtually no tourists. Great food and service, returned back for dinner on our last night we had such a good meal and good time. Try the Baked Turbot, their specialty.

Our stay @ Hotel Vecellio was great, couldnt fault any part of it. Rooms were clean and tidy, plus the room where very well furnished. All in all a good hotel and the best thing it is the second stop from the airport boat taxi, very easy to find just turn left off the boat and you are their. Plus in a good location where you are not in the heart of the city and paying the high food/drink costs, instead only good food and drink with easy walk to the town centre.

Our host Matteo was a delight at this convenient yet off-the-beaten-canal location in beautiful Venice. Very easy to get to from airport. The rooms were ok - with nice water views and windows that opened to let in fresh air. Most notable - the great advice, recommendations and helpful insights offered by native Venician Matteo. He runs a small but efficient operation - with charm. My only quibble- the rock hard bed pillows that could stand to be replaced. I'd definitely stay here again.

In general our excpectations were exceeded. The hotel has only 8 rooms and is managed directly by Matteo, the owner who is a very kindly person. Location is excellent as the water taxi from the airport stops at the hotel's doorstep. Both the room and bath were spacious in size and nicely decorated. We loved our stay at the "Vecellio" and can't wait to return. Matteo was a true asset to the hotel and its visitors. We were thrilled with our room which overlooked the lagoon; however, not all the rooms were as fortunate. The one problem we encountered was the noise, not from outside, but from the apartment above our room. There was a party going on until 2:00 AM which kept us awake until then. We should have complained to the night attendant but did not. The following night, there was no noise so we slept fine. We would look forward to our return.

We loved this hotel. the location was perfect...a no brainer if taking the allilaguna from the airport. we had a beautifully appointed room facing the water. yes, it was on the small side (think cozy), but i have never stayed in a large room in venice...i don't think they exist. we could open the windows and let in the air and atmosphere of the busy vaporetto stop or close them for almost total silence. breakfast was yummy and, since there was yoghurt, it carried us through the morning easily. the best part, however, was matteo who was welcoming, charming, helpful and spoke excellent english, easing our transition into the venice experience. i would book this hotel again in a heartbeat...can't wait to go back!

This was my first time in Venice. I read the reviews on Vecellio and since they were good I thought I would give it a try. I was very disappointed. The pictures on the website of the charming rooms are not what I received. I received a dark, although spacious, room on the first floor underneath what I can only guess is the owner's apartment. I arrived late afternoon so I did not go out and explore immediately. What I discovered was that there is no soundproofing between floors. It sounded like elephants dancing on the ceiling and it was literally shaking the walls. When I told the owner, Matteo, of the problem he dismissed me by saying, "This is Venice. It is loud... not like home in the US." I left after the first night and stayed at a wonderful place, Ca' Gottardi, which is in a former palace. It was only 20 Euro more per night and the rooms were immaculately clean, recently rennovated with modern luxuries, and they were extremely quiet. Also, the service the staff provided was wonderful and I will forever be grateful that they "saved" my trip to Venice. I travel to Europe often and am used to tourist traffic and noise (and I don't get easily upset about things) but the noise at Vecellio was unacceptable. The service left something to be desired as well. I guess if you want to stay at Vecellio, request a room on a upper floor with a view of the ocean. Otherwise, you will not receive the charming room seen on the website. Go out for breakfast because the breakfast room is less than desirable. Also, do not complain, you will be greeted with a smug response from the owner who seems to have a disregard for his guests. For the price, I would highly recommend staying somewhere else.

Nice view to Murano, very quiet, and romantic place. Try to ask for the room with windows to Murano, lagoon view, otherwise you will have a "wall" in your window--tipically for Venice. Anyway, even "wall" view didn't spoiled the impression of this hotel.

Despite arriving at 3:00 am, we were made very welcome. The hotel is comfortable and the service is excellent. It is easy to reach from the airport, unless you arrive in the early hours. It is conveniently located for visiting the islands and a fifteen minute walk from the Rialto. Importantly it is quiet at night. We hope to stay at Vecellio again and would not hesitate in recommending it to others.

My rating explains all - mostly I am very satisfied except that it is not a King size bed as indicated in the web site. I booked a King size bed room and requested to split into two twin beds. However, I realised it was only a double bed split into two when I arrived. I double confirmed with the hotel directly before but was never reminded that it was only a double bed but not a king size bed as indicated. If size matters to you, do emphasize when you place your booking.

I have found my home away from home in Venice at the Vecellio. This was my second visit to Venice, the first time we stayed around the Rialto Bridge area, nice but expensive and busy. The Vecellio is a very clean, very well kept property. It is quite compared to the bust tourist’s areas of Venice, but it not without its water bus stop out front. Matio is a wonderful host. He is always upbeat, and has excellent suggestions for any activity you wish. The nice surprise is that the location of the property is out of the main hustle and bustle of central Venice, but centrally located to all the major sites. It was nice walking back along the Rialto Bridge area, with all the people, and then at one point they all turned left, and we continued straight towards the hotel. It was like being in a different city, local folks doing their shopping, kids playing soccer in the streets. The restaurants in the area are first rate, without being as expensive as central Venice. There is a nice restaurant next door over looking the lagoon, and the first day there a view of the Alps. The room we stayed in was big by European standards, and very clean. The bath was nice, but the shower was a little tight. I would recommend this property to anyone who likes a quaint almost bed and breakfast like feel to a hotel. If you like to vacation hard during the day, but want a nice quite oases for recharging the batteries then the Vecellio is the place for you. If you want to pay more for similar accommodations, and fight the crowds 24 x 7 then this is not the place for you.

Our stay at Vecellio was wonderful. Matteo was extremely helpful in providing restaurant recommendations as well as what special dishes we should order. He also told us how to get to the airport easily. The location of the hotel is very convenient and away from the bustling crowds so we got a good night's rest.

The rooms are quite nice, very clean and quite well equipped and the location is very good (10 mins walk to Rialto) and lots of nice squares etc just around the corner. Its also very handy to get to as there is a vaporetta stop literally at the front door (but noisy if your room is at the front) If you like lots of space however this is not for you - rooms are quite small and the hotel is a little cramped (breakfast area is about 2x2 m!)- This is the only Venice Hotel I have used however so I cannot compare with others-. We found the rooms very warm - we opened the window to cool down during the night - however if you were on the ground floor this would mean a lot of noise. The owner seemed to have a problem with letting us use the provided fan in the room (a/C was switched off) - He actually switched these off at one point which I asked him about and I could not understand his reason. This just added to the heat problem. Quite a few other annoying little 'rules' such as they don't allow irons or kettles to be used in the room (?).It felt like living in someones house under 'their rules' - and personally I would look eleswhere next time.

Vecellio Hotel was the perfect Hotel in Venice. The price was a little high, but still better then most of the surrounding Hotels inside Venice. The location of the Hotel was PERFECT. The transprotation boat is right outside the hotel, and the food around the hotel was delicious. The hotel is located in an area of Venice where may local people live. This makes the stay very homely as well as cheap for buying at local stores. The hotel is only a 5-8 minute walk to the center Bridge in Venice. It is quite a beautiful walk everytime you have to enter Venice. I would recomend this Hotel to anyone, and I would return to the exact same place next time I visit. Venice is lovely.

THE HOTEL IS VERY ACCESIBLE FROM THE AIRPORT WHICH IS AN IMPORTANT ASPECT SINCE ONCE IN VENICE EVERYTHING IS WALKING WITH YOUR LUGGAGE. FROM AIRPORT JUST TAKE ALILAGUNA TO FONDAMENTA NOVE AND YOU ARE THERE (6 EUROS ONLY). THEN ONCE IN THE HOTEL, THE VAPORETO STOP IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DOOR (SUPER CONVENIENT). EVERYTHING ELSE IS WALKING AND THE HOTEL IS WELL LOCATED IN VENETIAN NEIGHBORHOOD. MATTEO IS EXELENT HOST AND RECOMENDATIONS BY HIM WHERE EXCELENT (WHERE TO DINE, TO GO FOR CLASSIC MUSIC CONCERTS, ETC.)

Hotel Vecellio was conveniently located on the water overlooking Murano. Easy access from train station via vaporetti, ten minutes by foot to Rialto Bridge. Small bathroom but very clean. Good breakfast was included. Matteo and staff were very congenial and helpful. I would stay there again.

What a cool little hotel! We stayed at Hotel Vecellio for our honeymoon, and had a great time. The hotel is situated right on the lagoon, so the view from the front door is spectacular. It is also two seconds from a vaporetto stop, so it is FANTASTIC for those with rolling luggage. It is in Cannaregio, which is still pretty much filled with locals (tough to find in Venezia) - and reasonably priced restaurants. Mateo was a wonderful host, and made this a memorable trip. He treated us like long-lost friends, and each day we could count on a good conversation over breakfast - and great dinner recommendations. When we return to Venezia, we will definitely visit Mateo and the Hotel Vecellio!

The hotel is so perfect for a Venetian feel that you probably won't get elsewhere. The rooms are small, but this is normal for Venice and normally you aren't there to stay in your room! The hotel is very beautiful and the staff is great, very helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants great atmosphere and an amazing hotel for a cheap price.

Our flight from Rome to Venice was cancelled, so after waiting at the airport in Rome for 12 hours until our next flight we had quite negative expectations of the hotel and our time in Venice due to the bad luck we'd had that day. We arrived at the hotel and were greeted by very friendly staff, and shown to our room. The word that comes to mind for it is stunning! It was a different room to the ones shown on the pictures on the hotel's website, but equally beautiful. As the property is a recently renovated traditional venetian house, it echoes the beauty you see outside. The waterbus stop is literally a few steps outside the hotel, just be sure not to get confused as Fondamenta Nuove can be tricky as to working out the destinations of the waterbuses as they can go across to Murano as well as round the main island. The staff had a recommendation for a restaurant within 3 minutes walking distance of the hotel, it was very reasonably priced and served some of the best food we've ever had! Our stay in Venice was short but our stay in this hotel helped to ensure that we will return in the very near future!!

It was wonderful to step off the vaporetto at Fondamenta Nuovo and step into our hotel.THe Cannaregio neighborhood had ample restaurants, shopping, Geus Church worth a visit etc. We were glad to be in this neighborhood once we saw the congestion around the San Marco area. Venice is so walkable and after one or two attempts we felt comfortable getting around the area. It was a bit far on the vaparetto from the train station but it was a lovely ride and any excuse to be on the vaparetto in Venice was a good one. We could see Murano from our window. We could also hear the early morning commuter traffice outside the window. The room and bathroom were small, but clean and adequate for a two day stay. Breakfasts were fine. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

Excellent access to hotel from Vaperetto - a blessing after traveling all night with heavy bags. My wife says she could have cried with relief at the point of our arrival, to find it as easy as the website indicated, and then the staff was very welcoming and helpful, to make it even better to have arrived, at last. Matteo's English was good enough to make jokes. His restaurant recommendation was just great. So good we went back a second time. We loved the view of the laguna from our window, and the location, in general, away from crowds, but only a 15 minute walk to Piazza San Marco, and that by the Corleone statue in the piazza on the way! Breakfast was limited, but good, with excellent coffee. We would definitely stay there again.

Mateo was great. He has a very nice hotel and a great location on the water looking towards Murano. The hotel is a very easy walk to the rest of Venice, which is nice because you then get to see more of the "real" Venice and not just the turist attractions. The only time we took a water taxi was to Murano and back to the train station. My wife and I would return. Mateo - Have fun on your L.A. vacation this year.

The day we arrived it was pouring rain. Happily, when we got off the Vaporetti, our hotel was right in front of us. We had a Jr. Suite. Our room looked like the picture. This is not in the super touristy area. We were on the first floor, and even with double pain windows, you could hear people in the alley every morning talking outside our window. This is probably to be expected, and presented no real problem. My husband is a light sleeper so he used ear plugs, and that did the trick. The island of Morano was directly across from the hotel, so it was very convenient. Breakfast was fine as well. My husband and I tried cappicino for the first time and liked it. We were a bit intimidated at first by the owner, Matteo. It took a while for us to get our bearings on land, as we arrived by boat. On our first morning, I asked him about walking directions to San Marco. Without knowing that, my husband asked him the same thing. Then we came back to clarify. Needless to say, our repeat requests were a pain. However, as a proprietor of a hotel, one would think he might have attempted to avoid reminding us with exasperation that he had already told us before! We told him that we were sorry if he thought we were stupid Americans with no sense of direction, and that we had chosen his hotel through Venere because of positive comments we had read about him. After that, he lightened up. We were prepared for the tiny shower in the corner of the bathroom, as we had read about it in reviews. However, it really took some maneuvering to avoid flooding the bathroom floor with water. We were super careful not to make a mess, but the shower curtain didn't come to the floor, so it was impossible to avoid. We enjoyed our small frig and the safe. On our second day the sun came out and Venice was spectacular. Great trip.

First of all, you must remember that this is Venice: one cannot expect spacious rooms unless one is willing to spend an exorbitant rate (so the rooms are not large, but read on...). The value/price ratio is VERY high in this place, which is originally a 15th century family home which has recently been renovated into 8 charming rooms. Matteo, who owns the place and who works the front desk for 15 hours a day, is most charming and always ready with a smile and words of wisdom about what to see in his home town. THIS PLACE IS AN UNDISCOVERED GEM! It is in the Canareggio district, literally right ON the water, directly in front of the Fundamenta Noeve foot ferry landing place--if you come from the train station, you will only have to walk three steps into the hotel lobby; if you come from the ferry from the airport, go left up over one short bridge, and voila--Hotel Vecellio. The room we stayed in overlooked the water and all the interesting hubbub of Canareggio, which is one of the few residental sections left in Venezia. Just outside the hotel were several good bars (think, yummy chewy Venetian sandwiches) and restaurants, two cash machines, a flower seller, a newsstand which sells maps of Venice, and a postbox. Great walks throughout the day and evening along charming side canals, lovely piazzas (especially the church piazza of Giuseppe e Paolo, with five sidewalk cafes--lovely, peaceful atmosphere away from the touristy bustle of San Marco Square and the Rialto bridge (only a 15 minute walk away, if you can tolerate the massive tourist logjam there). I almost hestitate to write such a glowing review, as I feel that we have found such a GEM of a place to stay, and I fear that too many glowing reviews will mean that Matteo will no longer have room for us. On the other hand, we would like Matteo to still be in business when we return in five years, and his hotel was not full any of the three days we stayed there. Not many folks care to stay in Canareggio, as the

Matteo was very helpfull and we enjoyed our stay in Venice very much! If we ever are to visit Venice again, there is no doubt where we will stay! The hotel is perfectly situated in the part of the city where the locals live, and we ate and drank food much better and cheaper, which was served by much more pleasant waitors than any of the typical tourist places could offer. Excellent!

Friendly and helpful reception. Hotel just 50 yards from waterbus stop - to airport (6 euros each way) runs every hour. Only 1 bridge to negotiate with luggage and 15-20 minute walk to St Marks Square. Room a bit cramped, but clean, with aircon and views of mainland. Great ice creams and restaurant on Fondamenta Nuova, just 20 yards away. Will stay there next time in Venice.

My fiance and I stayed two nights at the Vecellio Hotel. We wish it could have been longer. I spent days on the internet searching for a hotel that seemed nice and within our budget and based my decision on location and other reviews. All of the reviews I read about this hotel were very good, but I was still a little worried because it is a 3 star hotel and I had been told some three star hotels in Europe are not that great and I am not easy to please. I was worried for nothing. Vecellio is a gem. The owner Mateo is very nice and he is helpful as can be. The night receptionist is an older gentleman who does not speak english very well, but he is so cute and sweet, he more than makes up for it. He does speak enough english to get by and tries very hard. You have to love him. The hotel itself is decorated very nicely and is exceptionaly clean. There is a continental breakfast in the morning which is very good. Mateo will make you any kind of coffee you want and serves fresh breads with jams. There is a water taxi station right in front of the hotel which made getting to and from the train station a breeze. We did not have to walk all over Venice dragging our luggage looking for our hotel. In my eyes this makes the Vecellio a perfect location. I would more that recomend this hotel to friends and family, or anyone for that matter, and we will certainly be back again and again. Venice was wonderful and the Vecellio only made it better. Thank you Mateo for making our stay so nice.
