Good value for the money and perfect choice to be closed to train and bus stations if leaving early in the morning! recommend to buy a ticket for Vaporetto and go to Burano island as well!

A very pleasant hotel. I left very early in the morning before breakfast time and without asking they offered me a take away breakfast. Good price/quality and perfect situated if you need to catch the bus or train early.

Hotel has an excellent location , very near the train station and it is an area full of hotels so it is safe and has lots of places to eat nearby. the hotel is nice, it is a pity that for the price of the room you do not get a private bathroom. However, they give you towels and the bathroom is in excellent conditions. I think that given that Venice is known to be expensive the hotel is a good deal.

The Hotel location was so convenient. After dropping off our car, we walked over the bridge and the first street to the right of the church is where the hotel was located. It was steps from the vaporetto which took us wherever we wanted to go. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean and spacious. We would stay here again.

We stayed in a single room with queen bed and private bath. Had AC. Room very adequate. Expensive because of devalued US dollar. It was quite convenient to train, bus station and cruise dock. Front staff always available and helpful. Had locked luggage room. We were very happy with room, quietness of hotel and convenience. Area seemed family friendly with lots of locals. Europeans are not quite as friendly as Americans. We would recommend this to our friends.

Overall OK experience, however, 2 areas of concern, 1) bed was far below average for comfort. It was very saggy. It almost sagged to the floor when I first sat on it. And 2) rooms were not at all soundproof. You can hear everything going on in adjacent rooms. Luckily, our neighbors were quiet, but this would have been a huge annoyance otherwise. Ultimately, would not recommend this hotel. I'm sure there are better values for the money. It was the only hotel we visted our 2 week tour through Europe that I would not recommend.

The Stella Alpina is in an excellant position. The staff were helpful. The hotel does not have a lift and my request to move to a lower floor room was dealt with immediately in a courteous manner. i would reccomend this hotel to everyone.

Nice hotel, quiet, clean, rather cheap and well located near the Santa Lucia station. Plus the staff is helping, speaks at least french and english and is very kind. If I really had to add a flaw, I'd say the room had no sight and was poorly furnished. Anyway, I would certainly come back there.

Most important quality is accessibility being about 5-7 minutes walk from Bus Station over a new bridge (very near bus station - not shown on all maps), generally smooth concrete and short patch of cobbles. Stayed on first floor with small en suite. Premises generally has olde world charm. Hot/cold drinks vending machine on ground floor. Pleasing continental breakfast - croissants made on site! Important - when returning to airport allow additional time because of limited staffing at bus ticket issuing station - obtain numbered ticket from machine and wait for sales person to call your number.

Great small hotel in a quiet, convenient location - near the train stn, but off the main tourist street. Staff was great, breakfast was fine, the room was clean and quiet. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a reasonable hotel in Venice.

We have used this company for our Trip for the first time in Venice and Nice and the hotel is exactly as described. The pricing is excellent and the Staff are amazing with assisting and recommending places to see. We left the hotel in Venice at at early time before breakfast and the staff packed our breakfast to Take away.....I was shocked but appreciative. I highly recommend this website and Hotels Stella Alpina in Venice and Hotel Albert in Nice.I will be using you guys again when I return to Europe. Thank you the beautiful ladies at Reception at both Hotels.

The overall stay was good - but I only used the room as a base-camp. The facilities were decent and the breakfast was expansive, but the receptionist was rather cold and unhelpful. I went with a friend and we split the cost, so the price to service ratio was nevertheless agreeable. Be forewarned, however, that female staff members that are given a chair, a desk, and a slight mask of authority will likely treat other females with a note of disdain. Especially if you are younger than they are.

Hotel is ideally located for those travelling to Venice by train or by car (when approaching the Venice island stay on the left lane to get to the nearest possible car park. Is you stay on the right lane you will end up miles away so beware...) Hotel is located in a tiny, tiny street so a bit hard to find the first time but not too bad. Sometimes there was no warm water which wasn't a problem for me but might be for some... Breakfast was rather modest and they never refilled the bread basket once it got emptied.

The Stella Alpina is VERY convient for those arriving via train, or even for those flying in to Venice and taking the bus to town. As we saw many tourists lugging their heavy bags across the city, we came to REALLY appreciate its closeness to the train station! In addition to the convenience to the train station, it is also very close to the "Vaporeto" stops. By bus, cross the big bridge and get to the train station. From the train station, go left out of the station about 150m along the Grande Canal, and you will almost immediately come to a bridge on the right, I believe the name was "Ponte Scalix" or something similar. Don't cross the bridge, but when you see it look to your left. Just a little further on you should see a relatively narrow, pedestrian only, alley, between two restaurants. For confirmation the street name should be on the upper right wall of the alley. The hotel is down the alley on your right about 50m. Internet access is not free, but they do have wireless and a computer available for use. Breakfast is excellent - a good selection of breads, croisants, sliced ham and cheese, juices, coffee/expresso/chocolate, etc. Staff for the most part are very knowledgeable and helpful, though we did have one front desk person who didn't seem too happy to be working there! TIP: Even though it is expensive, go ahead and buy the 24 - 36 hour Vaporeto pass. Riding the water bus around Venice is pretty cool!

It is a good hotel for Italian standars, services provided are superior to its 2 stars. It is closed to Venezia Railway Station and the Gran Canal and near to Pl. Roma Bus Station. The hotel is in good location which is near the main train station. It is convenient for us to rush to the train station and went around Venice since the pier is in front of the hotel location. We stayed in a triple room which is wide enough. The breakfast was very good. So comparing with the price, it is worth to stay at the Hotel Stella Alpina. We are very much impressed in staying in this hotel. The reception officer also extended warm welcome to us. The hotel is better than I expected when I saw the hotel picture at the internet when I booked the room.

We wanted a hotel near the station and this couldn't have been more convenient. It was 2 minutes away and easy to find. The room (triple) was a good size and very quiet. The bathroom was very new and had a fantastic shower. At 115 Euros, it wasn't cheap, but for Venice it was good value. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

This was an adequate Venice hotel. Certainly not fancy, altho the breakfast room was quite pleasant. A bit old and worn but this may be what Venice is all about. A very convenient location so no need to pull your bags all over Venice. The folks on the desk were helpful and pleasant. Price was as reasonable as you will get for a room with a bath. Street was relatively quiet.

the hotel is ok, especially because its near the station and in front of the boats that bring you everywhere in Venice. The quality of the breakfast is increased, but the gentleness of the employees of the hotel is decreased compared to four years ago. I noticed it when I called to book the hotel and also when I was there, during the breakfast time.

Pictures on venere.com are cleverly done, a standard room doesn't look anywhere as spacious as the one on the pictures, esp. the bathroom. Walls are thin so you may hear your neighbours all night. Biggest problem: NO ELEVATOR so if you can, get a room on the first or second (out of 4) floors. Rooms are pretty clean but there was a funny smell when we checked in, found out it was the chemical mosquito repellent plugged into the wall, yuck. a nicer place with great value for your money is the Locanda al Leon Hotel basically right at San Marco Square.

We Stayed one night and the location of the hotel was perfect for arriving into Venice on the first night. After arriving at the main bus station from the airport, the hotel was easy to find meaning we could off-load our luggage and check-in quickly with minimum fuss. Its only at most a 10-15 minute walk southwards along the Grand Canal from the station, and there is a water bus stop at very close proximity. The room was a basic ensuite, clean and with air conditioning. The breakfast was an absolute treat and totally unexpected. All in all we enjoyed the stay and the price seemed reasonable.

Unfortunately, we could not place calls from our hotel room phone - dialing with ANYTYPE of calling card; additionally, we left before breakfast was served so we've no idea what we might have missed. Some of the B&Bs we stayed in had some foods out for early risers/early departures, but not here.

Excellent hotel position for us as we were arriving by train. Being in a side street the hotel was also pretty quiet and avoided noise from the tourist throng. It was quite far from San Marco, but the ferries meant that it was easy and cheap to travel around. Once we knew our way around we found it was also not too hard to walk to the Rialto area. Overall, we would go back to Venice in a flash and would be happy to stay at Stella Alpina again.

The communication of this website is terrible, the cancellation policy is 5 days in advance but I made the reservation 4 days before and because of this the following day when I wanted to change it they said I couldn't and they would not provide the phone number to the Hotel either. The directions to the hotel say nothing about turning left down an alley and then going 150 yards, we walked past the turn off twice and then when we got to Hotel Edelweiss- and the only reason I knew that was it was because I had read some of the reviews on your website. There were no bath towels in our room, but we were very happy to have our own bathroom. It also had very saggy old mattresses. I am afraid we were glad to leave it.

For Venice, it's a good value. The street was not as quiet as I'd hoped, since we were off the "main drag" - there was a lot of foot traffic at all hours, including construction noise on the alley below. Note, that there is no lift in the hotel, so be prepared to carry your luggage up multiple flights of stairs. The room and bath were clean (except the drain in the shower was slow to clear and thus there was often a moldy smell in our bathroom), and the room spacious enough. The 24-hour reception was a nice feature, as well as the internet in the hotel. They do charge 5 Euros per hour, but you can start and stop anytime. The breakfast was very nice - cereals, breads, cheeses, fresh apricot croissants, juices and a cappuccino machine that made all varieties of coffee, tea, and hot cocoa as well. Again, if I could stay off the main street, that would be better. But, the location a stone's throw from the main railway station (and 10 minutes' walk from the bus station) can hardly be beat. For the money, I prefer Belle Epoque, but BE was full when I booked this.
Italy, May 2008
I wish I had not bothered booking here. I slept on a folding bed in a room with two folding beds. The floor was unfinished - concrete just inside the door - with no bathroom. For 120€ per night?! I booked for me and for my two friends. Their double room was OK, but still expensive. At least they didn't have silly beds and a poky room. Incredible. This is expensive, even for Venice. An offseason room with double bed and ensuite bathroom in Florence cost me €41 per night, as some comparison. As I live in Bassano del Grappa now, I won't bother booking anything through Venere.com again. Don't blame the staff though - very nice, hardworking people. The problem is with the owners, who can charge such extortionate rates but haven't even finished the building!

We ended up paying 140 Euro for a Night ( Month of April ) through Venere which i thought is little expensive, but may be hotels in Venice cost this much usually. Other than this, hotel was exceptionally good, very humble & helping staff ( Especially the receptionist Ms Magda - she was very kind ). ( Small Problem is that the hotel doesnt have an Elevator, avoid taking the room on the 4th or 3rd floor ). My new husband and I stayed at Hotel Stella Alpine on our honeymoon. One thing to note, when you arrive in Venice, the "streets" are basically the size of alleyways. The Stella Alpina was was a nice, clean hotel with a private bathroom to stay in during our Venice trip. Plus, it was a 5 minute walk to the train station, which made it perfectly located for our trip in which we arrived and department from Venice via train. The only downside was that it was somewhat expensive for the size & quality of the rooms and services offered. On our next trip to Venice, I'll probably try to find another hotel with the same services but slightly less expensive ... however, if there aren't any (which there may not be) I'm sure we'll gladly stay at the Stella Alpina again.

Very pleased with everything (lucky us got a room on the first floor; my in-laws got the 4th one without the benefit of an elevator! Good news though, an elevator is coming this winter). Biggest complaint is the hotel sign: big, nice Edelweiss sign visible from afar. Passed it twice not expecting to have to pass the German exam to enter (Stella Alpina is Italian for Edelweiss!) I would add a note of caution on the internet directions regarding the fact that the "street" is actually a narrow passage starting in front of the bridge. Other than that it's a great location and the price is very decent.

We really thought the staff was great, but upon getting our room it was a disgrace it smelled bad, the sheets were dirty, and we had to check into another hotel down the street. Was quoted (and paid for) a room with private bathroom, but received room with communal shower and toilet. We're not really picky when it comes to hotel rooms Especially in foreign countries, but the room we received was really too disgusting for us.

We arrived very late, well after midnight, and the hotel was very cooperative about this.

I've been in Venice for two days and one night spent in this hotel. The room was perfectly clean, comfortable, quite big. The hotel is really near to the railway station (less then 5 minutes walk) and to "Canal Grande". I think is the best with respect to relationship between price and quality. I was quite surprised of the quality of the room given the price, the previous comments I read and the rank of the hotel (just two stars).

The single room was small but clean and bright. While it would have been nice to have had something besides Italian stations on the television, I enjoyed my brief stay at the Stella. (The sign, though, announces that it's the Hotel Edelweiss.) It was great getting off the train and walking around the corner to the hotel and being able to walk over the Grand Canal and have all of Venice at my disposal. A good reasonably priced hotel with a decent, though not great, breakfast. My only complaint: very low water pressure in the sink in my room at certain times of the day.

IN VENICE EVERYTHING SMELLS BAD, IS VERY VERY EXPENSIVE, ABOUT 16E one beer, THE CONDITIONS ARE NOT AS EXPECTED AND DO NOT WORTH IT; MANY BUIDINGS ALMOST CRASHING, GARBAGGE ON THE STREET, OLD BOATS(FROM 1987) AND EXPENSIVE TICKETS (25EURO/ 48 HOURS)

Easy to find, convenient for the station, staff were welcoming and helpful. For this price in Venice we had expected a total dive and were very pleasantly surprised to find a large bright clean room with generously sized bathroom, and big windows overlooking a quiet street (so you could get fresh air without noise). The hotel is quite far from the 'hub' of Venice if you were in a hurry, but very walkable (about 25 minutes through interesting streets), or otherwise, convenient to the ferry. Would definitely stay here again.
